The reversal agent worked quickly, and Kyohei's breathing returned to near normal. Unfortunately, the medication caused a brief memory lapse, and he could not remember what the nurse had said and done. This was good on some level, because it was agreed that he'd been through enough sexual harassment. The nurse manager finished the rest of nurse Econa's shift and reported off to the oncoming nurse. He was the same as last night, so it was easy to bring him up to speed on the changes. Sunako was glad to see him, so she didn't have to explain anything to him. The nurse ordered a tray of food for Kyohei, and when it arrived, he was one unhappy camper.
“What is this shit?! I haven't eaten in forever and all I get is dashi*? I want some real food! What else do I get? …tea, and a Popsicle. I hope I don't get too full. Sunako, can you get me some real food? This is bad!”
“The doctor explained why you can't have solid food, remember? You had that surgery, and things aren't back to normal. I'd advise you to get what you can now, because they are talking about setting your leg tomorrow. If it's a go, you can't eat anything after midnight.” She answered back.
After a lot of complaining, Kyohei ate 2 more bowls of dashi and 3 Popsicles. The nurse came in and advised Kyohei and company that the orthopedic surgery would be done in the morning. The nurse asked if anyone wanted to see the operation from the viewing theatre. He advised them that it would not be for the faint of heart. He also told them that according to the order, someone should be there to avoid opportunity of misconduct. Ranmaru volunteered to go with him in Pre-op. Takenaga and Sunako decided to watch the operation. Sunako said she'd like to be in recovery as well. Yuki had no problems with the plan. He was a little squeamish, and offered to stay overnight in Kyohei's room, so everyone would be fresh in the morning.
“Ok, but control yourself.” Ranmaru said winking. “I don't want any more rumors started about another girlfriend” Yuki just rolled his eyes.
“Are you guys going home or staying?” He asked.
Ranmaru and Takenaga decided to sleep in their comfy beds. Sunako decided to stay in the Visitors' room. She said that she could sleep just about anywhere and as long as someone brought her fresh clothes for tomorrow, she'd be ok. So everyone proceeded to their nightly destination. Sunako had a long day, and tomorrow was probably going to be long too. As she lay down, thinking about the day, she pondered all the things that she had learned today. Kyohei never did say that he loved her, and that was probably a good thing. She wasn't quite ready for that declaration. It was obvious that she held some importance to him though. What is he to me? Is there more to our relationship? Am I reading too much into this? I was truly happy that my bag held nice clothes and such when I got it, why? Since when have I cared what I looked like for other people? He couldn't even see me. He did seem to respond to the scented lotion though, and I have no idea why I used it. He seemed troubled when I was gone. But then THOSE things were going on, anyone would have been upset. She decided to just put the day out of her mind and get ready for tomorrow. She curled up on the sofa and went to sleep.
Ranmaru and Takenaga braved the ocean of `guests' in the lobby and thanked the guards for their assistance. It was quiet as they took the train back home. When they arrived, they found Auntie's butler there. He had also been accompanied by two maids. They had taken on the chore of organizing all the calls and gifts that had been arriving. He greeted them and told them, “Madame requested that we attend to you and your needs at this time. I need to return to Madame. But, may I introduce your help. Hanako and Misaki, please come to the drawing room.”
Two lovely young women entered the room. Hanako, Ranmaru's `assistant', was a petite woman and had short, jet black hair and a mischievious twinkle in her eye. Misaki, Takenaga's `assistant' had long, flowing ebony tresses that she had put partially up. She too, was a tiny woman and looked at the pair of men demurely. The butler told them that these two would be able to fulfill any needs they may have. Be it cooking, cleaning or anything else. Auntie had hand picked these ladies for this assignment. It was a treat for steering Sunako to being more `Lady-like'. She didn't think Yuki would want `help', but if so, all he had to do was call. Afterwards, the butler took off.
“What can we do for you, young masters?” They asked. “Are you hungry? Do you need us to draw a bath for you? Would you like your beds turned down?”
The men were no strangers to this treatment, though it had been a while. They were both heirs to huge companies, and grew up with servants at their beck and call. They were sent to the boarding house to learn a little more about common life. They explained that it was rather late, and they had gotten something to eat already, though it was nice to offer. They would have loved to have long baths after all that had happened, but they had to be up early in the morning.
“Please prepare our beds.” Ranmaru taking on a managerial tone. “I think we'll each take a quick shower and retire for the night. We will need to be back at the hospital no later than 6:00 am. So we will be rising at 4:30. We would like a light breakfast, but perhaps a more substantial lunch that we can take with us and share with our other two roommates. I am unsure when we will return in the evening. Perhaps sandwiches or other light fare for dinner? We will call with details. We have some laundry here, and some of it is Young Ms. Nakahara's. I need to prepare you about the Young Miss. ”
“We have been informed that Young Miss is a bit eccentric and going through a phase. We are prepared to assist her as well. We are accomplished stylists as well, so if she needs our services, we are here. We won't allow her to continue in her current style though. We will measure her upon her return and create an acceptable wardrobe for her.”
Takenaga snickered, “You may have you work cut out for you. But then, she may be amiable to a change. I will tell you now, she is nothing like her aunt in fashions. She prefers the `Off the Rack' look. She'd rather be caught dead in a dress, but you might convince her to wear a nice suit or something”
“We'll take that under advisement, Sir. Anything else, young masters?”
“No, that should do it. Thank you ladies. I assume you know where your quarters are?” said Ranmaru.
“Where would you like us? We are prepared for anything.”
“Give us a while before `Hanky-Panky' is on the service menu. Right now, not even I am ready for that.” He said. “Your quarters are near the kitchen. I think you can each have your own room too. Have a pleasant evening, if I don't see you.”
The guys took their showers, and went straight to bed. They enjoyed the turn down service, but they were amazed at what Auntie arranged and was trying to arrange.
Back at the hospital, Yuki was sitting beside Kyohei, trying to figure out how in the world Sunako slept in here.
“Psst, Kyohei, I will be keeping you company for the evening, but do you know how Sunako was able to sleep in here? I can't find a comfortable position.”
“You ARE NOT sleeping in the same position she did. We'll leave it at that. I could not see her, but I know how she was positioned.”
“Ah, I take it she got rather chummy with you then? No, I wouldn't want to sleep in a position that would leave more questions than answers in the morning. Ranmaru told me to `control myself'. Well, I guess I'll do my best to curl up on this chair.
Say…What did you think when you knew that she had spent the night beside you? I'm curious, because we talked and I encouraged her to come over. I'm not certain where things are going, but you two are peas in a pod. You are so alike at times, it's not funny. When you are being opposites, the sparks fly. You are the only one that can tame her, and she seems to know how to calm you down as well. Did you know she still hasn't left? She's in the Visitors' room, sleeping on a couch. She's refusing to leave you. She will be watching your operation and she's planning on being in recovery when you wake up again. This incident has got her thinking about how we all fit together in the house, especially with you. I have a feeling you have been thinking the same thing. Whatever happens, all us guys will stand by you. I think that even if things don't progress, you have a friend for life in Sunako.
The nurse popped in and said, “It's late… He's got surgery in the morning, go to sleep.”
