going on.)
Kyohei looked slightly crestfallen. "I can accept that for now. Given your history,
and our history, I can see that you have a hard time trusting. So do I. So perhaps this is a
good start to a new phase in our lives."
The nurse came in and declared that it was time to transfer him to the Ortho ward.
The transfer team came in and wheeled his gurney to the elevator with Sunako
following. When they reached the new room, the other guys were already there. Yuki
was sleeping on the other bed and Ranmaru and Takenaga were reading. The team
carefully put Kyohei in his bed, and reported off to the nurse that would be taking over
his care. Since everyone was there, Sunako and Kyohei did not further their discussion.
They made small talk about how it seemed he was progressing well. After a bit, Yuki
woke up and mentioned that he was hungry. Ranmaru brought out the bento that the
maids had prepared for them. Sunako asked where they bought these bento, because she
knew they guys had no aptitude in cooking. The whole sordid story was shared, much to
the horror to Kyohei and Sunako.
"Auntie did what?" Sunako gasped. "She couldn't have, that's pretty low. So I am
to believe that because I have been attentive to Kyohei, you were rewarded with live-in
maids that are willing to do anything you ask? They are also waiting to meet me and
plan to measure me and change my whole wardrobe to that of a respectable lady? When
will she get it through her thick skull that I don't want that! I can be respected no matter
what I look like. Kyohei finds me beautiful, why can't she be happy with that?"
As she finished her statement, she clasped her hands to her mouth and blushed. "I
need to get some air, please excuse me."
Ranmaru smiled. "So, what have we been talking about now? Those must be
strong drugs. You find her beautiful? Well, I can see the potential in her, but she doesn't
keep it up. She cleans up nice, but we have to hypnotize or bribe her to do it."
"At her current rate, she'll never be a classic beauty that Auntie can be proud of"
Takenaga added. "She wants her to have the high life, not be a kitchen drudge. When
she's at the house, she's a housewife. When she had a chance to live it up while the
house was remodeled, she went and shacked up with you in some hovel."
"The sick thing is you kept it platonic too." Ranmaru interjected. "I would think if you
were living like poor newlyweds, at least you could ACT like newlyweds. Auntie set up
that beautiful room for you and you chose to sleep on a nasty futon...separately. I don't
get it. You said she's beautiful, why not grab a piece. I'll bet she'll be really feisty, she
may even have some tricks up her sleeve, being as dark and twisted as she is."
"Whoa guys." Yuki jumped in. "You are making it sound like they are in a close
relationship. They aren't. I hope I am not betraying any trusts here, but from what I
understand, their relationship is only at a friendship level. Nothing more. I know that

for Ranmaru-kun, it seems if a woman says hello to you, she's fair game to bed.
Takenaga-kun, what do we know of her life before here? Other than the whole rejection
thing and that she was from up North, nothing more. She could have been happy in her
home, cooking and cleaning. We've only met her parents briefly. They are an odd
couple too. Both her parents are very strong, and can be fearless at times. You are being
very unfair to Sunako-chan. I think she's trying to break out of her self-imposed prison,
but treat her like that and she won't."
Meanwhile, Sunako decided to take a breather outside. As she exited the elevator,
she saw the usual crowd of girls waiting to hear word on Kyohei. As she watched them,
she tried to put herself in their shoes. The thing was, she had nothing to base it on.
Does she care enough for Kyohei to camp out in a hospital lobby for him? Well, at first
she answered herself 'no', then she realized that she had not been home since she got
here 2 days ago. She just wasn't in the lobby, she had curled herself around him the first
night and last night she slept on a sofa 50 feet away. So, perhaps I do care then. What
was with the cleaning up yesterday too? I got all dressed up for him and he couldn't
even see me. He did comment on the scent of lotion though. I guess I do care for him
more than I have let on. I wonder how much the others know about it? From what Yuki
said, it's been obvious that we've cared for each other for some time. We have been too
stupid to act on it. I guess Kyohei was getting ready to declare or something. I know
that being followed by this mob all the time must be tedious. He knows I don't cater to
his every whim like his groupies. I am perfectly honest with him and he's honest with
me. I guess that's a very good place to start a relationship. I suppose I'll go tell him
what I've decided.
"I guess Takano Kyohei DOES have a girlfriend." She giggled. A little too loud,
so that some of the 'guests' in the lobby heard her.
"Hey, you ugly bitch!" someone yelled. "What did you just mutter about our
Kyohei-kun?"
"That's the girl that lives with him!"
"I'd recognize that mug anywhere!"
"Why do you get to see him? I thought no women could get into his room."
"She's not a woman, she's a ghoul."
Sunako was taken by surprise when she was knocked down and hit a few times.
Luckily, the security guard knew the situation, so he was able to separate her from the
group quickly. There was very little damage done to Sunako. She had been slapped a
few times and had been punched in the stomach. Her ankle was a little sore from where
someone had either kicked her or tried to push her down. She got a few licks in, but the
worst injury she caused were some black eyes. That should make those beauties
beautiful. The guard asked her if she wanted the police contacted and she said she
would press charges. She had witnesses to this and she was certain that some of these
people had assaulted Kyohei as well. The black eyes were done in self-defense. A nurse
came into the lobby and asked if she was ok. Sunako assured the nurse that she was
more or less uninjured, but she would return to the ER so she'd have it for the police

report. She asked if it would be ok to return to Kyohei's room, then report to the ER
when the police arrive. The nurse said she'd send someone up with a wheelchair for her
when the officer arrived, unless she needed one now.
"You know, I just might take you up on that or perhaps a pair of crutches for
now." She said slightly grimacing.
When the nurse returned with the crutches, Sunako entered the elevator to tell
everyone what happened. She also wanted a chance to tell Kyohei what she was
thinking. She hoped that what they has discussed earlier wasn't the drugs talking or else
she was going to be so embarrassed that she'd never want to show her face again.
