Chapter Six

Just as the young hunter came in, The chief spotted her. He came over very quickly, looking like he was angry. Robin found her stomach to be sickening again, although the coughing from the smoke had all but gone.

The man was thee in a flash.
“ I just got a police report of a explosion at Syunji Law offices. They had found the exact same situation, no sparks or flammable or explosive residue.” He said, staring into the girl’s eyes. “ Tell me you were there, and have the answers I want.”
“ I got there right after the explosion had happened.” Robin said, her voice quaking a little.
“ Go on...” The man said, arms folded across his chest.

Robin explained all she had seen, omitting how she was feeling from the coldness that Amon had shown her. The Chiefs expressions softened a little, as she detailed to him everything. She was done, and the man took his obligatory pause.

The man finally spoke.
“ Well then,,,” He said, after pondering her verbal report. “ You just go meet your boyfriend at home, try and get the information we need and perhaps even dig around for other tidbits while you wait.” He nodded. “ Am I clear?”

Robin felt the pain in her stomach tighten a little more. What he was suggesting to here, she did not agree with.
“ I can’t do that.” She finally said. “ That is just wrong.”
“ That is an order... straight from SOLOMON.” He said sternly. “ You just do your job.”
“ My job is to spy on the man I love?” She questioned with a little sarcasm in her voice. “ I can’t!”

The man looked at her, seemingly ignoring the girl’s words.
“ Your duty is before your personal life.” He said flatly, but with some volume to it. “ I have overlooked the fact that you have entered into a relationship with him, but now I have to be adamant of the fact that you need to do your job!”
“ What if I don’t do this?” She asked, giving her question with a little bit of defiance.
“ Let me be clear on that point then.” He started, then his face went to a mask of anger again. “ There would be some consequences to that choice, so you should just do as your told.” Warned the man. “ I hope that you make the right choice.”
“ Consequences?” She echoed, as she did not know what they were, but she had a feeling on them.
“ Right... Just do your job, and you will not have to worry about them.” He warned again. “ The choice is yours, you know.”

The man left with heavy footfalls that matched his mood, without letting Robin reply. She just closed her eyes, as she felt the sting of his words. In her head, there was only one phrase going through it....
“I hate this!!”

Michael called the girl over, once the Chief was well out of earshot from them. Robin came over, still reeling from the man’s verbal assault. She hated what she had to do, but not for why she had to.
“ I don’t know what you your going through... But I say it damn stinks.” Spat the lad.

Robin nodded, then remembered why she had came back to the offices to ask for.
“ Perhaps I can get some information on Nagira’s client list, with out having to lie to Amon like I would have to.” She said, adding. “ But I will need your help.”
“ Moi?” Michael said, in a very bad rendition of french.
“ Can you hack into the Syunji computer systems and get some of his records?” She asked in a low whispered tone
“ I could...” The lad admitted. “ But would that not be a over stepping of out powers?”
“ It might.” Robin agreed. “ Got any more ideas? I am out of them myself.”

Michael shook his head.
“ I can do that, if they are still up and on line...” He said, adding. “ I can peruse court records too, see who had Syunji was representing in older cases and what is pending too.”
“ Could you?” She asked, relived that there was something she could do.
“ That is a easy thing, although very time consuming.” The lad answered

Robin just sighed deeply, as she felt a little bit of the pressure lifted off of her. The lad nodded, and smiled.
“ Now... There is a question I need t put to you.”

Robin agreed, not knowing just what the lad needed to know from her. The lad leaned forward on his knees.
“ I’ve known you for awhile, so I can gauge when things are wrong with you...” He said. “ This feels like it is a little more than just spying on your man... Something else is there.”

Robin leaned in towards the lad.
“ I have one other reason for why I have to do it for now.” The tawny haired hunter explained. “ Something that is bigger than you can imagine.”
“ I am all ears.... What?” He questioned.

Robin just looked deep into her friend’s eyes. She was deciding just how much she should tell this lad.
“ I have to think not just of me, or Amon...” She said, then deciding to be brutally honest with the hacker lad. “ I am pregnant.”
“ You.... Amon... You guys are having a baby?” He said, a large grin flashing on his face.

Michael’s eye widened, and he fought back saying something. Robin wondered just what he was stopping. Her seemed to get the clue.
“ I see that you are between a rock and a very hard place.” He said “ Just let ol’ Michael do all of this digging for you, that way you don’t have to lie to Amon on this end of things.... Just go on home and rest.” He smiled a comforting smile. “ I hope I can come up with enough to get both SOLOMON and the Chief off of your ass.”
“ I hope that you don’t find out that Amon is involved. She said, showing her worry of that point.
“ Neither do I...” Was the only ting Michael said back to her.

Robin felt relieved at the lads offer, and his understanding with it all. She nodded and stood up, going to do just what the youth had suggested. He stopped her for a second.
“ Take care of the little one... I wont tell a soul.” Comforted Michael.
“ Thank you.” She said, grabbing her coat and going off home.

She arrived back home, and found the place quiet, just like she had left it. Amon was not there, and it was apparent that he had not been there in her absence. She just sighed and took a seat on the couch, her heart was breaking with all of this.

She turned on the television, and was immediately assaulted with the news report of the explosion at Nagira’s. She turned it off and just sat there, her mind flooding back to the scene of there own microwave in many pieces, which Amon had diligently cleared up and tossed before they had left for work.
“ Did Amon’s powers awaken?” She questioned herself in a whisper to the room, knowing very well that his mother had been a witch.

She prayed that this was not the horrible truth, but also knew she could not pass it off like she had been. In the back of her mind, that was a real possibility

Wanting to stop her mind from going around in circles like it was, Robin just stood up and headed into the bedroom. She thought a nice hot bath would sooth her jangled nerves, as the thought of not doing what she was ordered to still was at the forefront of her mind. For her baby’s sake, and her an Amon’s relationship, she needed to make a decision.

Laying in the bath, she let the hot water make her limbs become relaxed. She reveled at the soothing that was finally flooding her body. Now in a better state of mind, she did the only thing she knew of doing, she prayed for some guidance in all of this.

She suddenly sat up in the bathtub, she knew the right decision was clear right then and there out of the blue... she had to tell Amon everything when he got home. She knew that was the right choice to make

Fear gripped her, as his mood of the past few days made him unpredictable, but she saw no other way. Being a hunter is one thing, Amon was more than that to her. She hoped that he would understand it all, for she had to admit, she did not completely understand it herself.

With that resolved, she layed back to try and enjoy the soothing nature of the water. For the first time all day, her stomach was now calmed down.
