Chapter 2 the invitations
The next morning turned out to be better then the night before it. The sun shown brightly in the sky. All the clouds were gone now, and the sky was a nice clear blue color. A cool breeze blue the leaves of the trees around. Seto was still in bed as the sun rose, but something was bothering him. He wasn't the only one that was in the same state of mind. Four other people, where in the same shape feeling the same thing, Each of them having the same type of dream the night before about a girl whom appeared to be standing behind a planet calling out to them. The only one that seemed different was that of Yugi moto.
Yugi had the same dream, but instead of the girl standing in front of one of the nine planets, she was standing in front of the earth's moon. He set in his bed ignoring the calling of his grandfather. He had school that morning but he didn't care. His mind was torn, because Yami the spirit that lived within his mind also had the same dream, and it was causing them both to not function correctly. He was distracted and did not hear his grandfather calling out banging on the bedroom door. "Yugi! Come on Are you alright?!" his grandfather yelled through the door.
"Hi grandpa." Yugi replied tired and out of it being snapped out of his thoughts when the elder moto had forced his way into the young boy's room.
"Are you alright Yugi?" his grandfather asked placing a hand on his forehead. "you don't seem to have a temp, is there something wrong do you feel well?" he asked again in concern.
"I am alright grandpa, its just a bad dream I can't seem to shake off." Yugi replied not really lying, but at the same time, the dream could be described either as good or bad.
"Well come down and have some breakfast and we can talk about it." His grandpa suggested.
"If its all the same to you, I would rather have breakfast and get to school, I don't feel like talking about it right now." Yugi stated getting dressed in his school uniform a few moments later.
His grandpa sighed; his grandson could be such a handful at times. He let the subject drop for now deciding that he would talk with him about it after school when his grandson was more alert then he was now. He sat quietly watchin g the young boy eating. Yugi finished barely in enough time to get to class, but he managed to eat something. "Yugi you ready yet??!!" came a shout from outside the game shop which he lived above. The call came again much louder then the first time. ::Just great:: Yugi thought as he figured out who was calling him. ::Maybe I can sneak out the back r something.:: he thought. But the person caught up faster then the young teen could think. "Yugi are you deaf or something, I have been calling to you for the last ten minutes, if I am late for school again, your doing my homework for a week." She started to scold, but Yugi wouldn't have any of it.
By the time that she had started, Yugi took his chance and walked right past her yelling and headed to school. He sighed still able to hear the girl chasing him. Yugi moto!" the girl screamed.
"Why don't you just earn to leave me alone?!" Yugi replied to the screaming girl whom by this point had caught up to him due to his short legs.
"You know the answer to that Yugi." The girl stated picking the young boy up by his neck, dragging him the rest of the way to school dispite his screaming and protests which caught the attention of his other friends once the pair had reached the school yard.
"Tea is at it again." A blonde hair boy whispered.
"What else is knew, though the way she acts one day she could hurt hinm." Another boy replied with a strange brown hair color.
The girl now known as Tea finally dropped the young teen down on the floor of the classroom after trying to do everything for him. Ever since the young duelist got caught up in a fire, Tea has been falling all over herself to make sure nothing else ever happened, much to the displeasure of the young boy.
"Get out of the middle of the asile gardener." Kaiba growled when he saw her trying to blok his path as if him getting to his seat was going to be such a big deal.
Before a fight could break out between them, the teacher entered the room and ordered everyone to their seats making Tea have to move. She growled and did so keeping her eye on Kaiba the whole time, when she wasn't steeling a glance at Yugi as if she took her eye of of him something was going to happen.
It went on like that the entire school day. Yugi didn't even get a moments peace except when he was in the boys room, and even then tea was right there waiting. ::I've got to shake here some how:: he thought to himself as he finished tieing his shoe before going home. He had managed to lose tea, for the moment and was taking advantage of the free moment. He raced out into the poring rain trying to stay one step ahead of her. A lot was on his mind since the accident in the where house, and he hadn't had a moment to think about and reflect on it with Tea watching his every move. "Is there something wrong Yugi?" Yami asked him once they were home and he could come out in a ghost like form to speak with his smaller counterpart.
"So much is going on, We have a lot to uncover and learn, because I have a feeling that whoever it was that started that fire, and was trying to get my puzzle will not give up after just one try, then there was that dream." Yugi sighed as he lie face down on his bed light shining in on him from the skylight in his room.
"AH and I see, Tea has been taking it much harder then you I think.k" Yami added.
"I wish she would leave me alone, I am not helpless, just because I spent a little time in the hospital from being in that fire for so long before help arrived." Yugi agreed a hint of frustration in his voice. "I wish I knew who that girl in our dreams was, maybe she could help us out. It's a feeling I am getting either that, or I just.." Yugi started but cut himself off.
"Just what?" Yami asked placing a hand on the young boy's shoulder knowing he couldn't really feel it.
"Well, Its just it seems from what I have seen, she would be a good parent, and it reminded me, how I wish I had them. No offence to grandpa, but I miss having a mom around. You are already like a dad to me." Yugi admitted.
Yami looked a bit shocked. He had never heard Yugi talk loike that, or refer to him in such a way. He smiled and looked at the boy on the bed talking to him until all was calm again. Finally Yugi was able to get to sleep, but Yami couldn't, Instead he sat up looking out the open skylight at the stars reflecting on what Yugi had said.
Meanwhile while all of this was happening, Seto was hard at work at home, trying to busy himself with things to shake off the dreams he had been having. The news was on the large screening tv that his little brother was watching, and Seto was half out of it, not really paying much attention to it. He was interrupted by a phone call. Growling he picked up the phone speaking into it. "Kaiba Here." Came his growl of a reply.
"You had better be listening carefully to the news broad cast Seto Kaiba, for it will change your life forever." A woman spoke on the other end ignoring the ude comment and greeting she had gotten when Seto had answered the phone.
Seto snorted and looked at the tv a moment before giving his answer, "Look lady I don't have time for such nonsense."
"OH I assure you this is not nonsense, Come and see me tonight and I will show you proof." She replied before the line went dead. With that, Seto slammed down the phone growling to himself.
"Are you going to go big brother?" His little brother mokuba asked turning to face his brother who was sitting in front of a laptop.
"Look mokua, I don't have time for mummies and pharaohs, I have a business to run all that other nonsense can wait for now." He told his brother not even turning to face him.
"OH ok what ever you say big brother." Mokuba replied with a sigh turning back to kneel in front of the tv once more.
Suddenly in a fit of frustration Seto slammed the lid to his laptop shut and stood ordering a driver to come pick him up out front. He didn't know it then, but someone else very important in his life, was already making it known to bother his mind so he couldn't concentrate. It was the voice of his dreams which kept haunting him.
Within a few minutes he had arrived at the meeting place. A woman was already waiting for him. "I knew you would Make it Seto Kaiba." She said.
"Get on with it already, I have a compney to run I don't have time for this." Kaiba replied in a harsh cold tone of voice.
"Very well then Seto." The woman replied seeming unfased by what had been said to her. "To begain my name is Isis Ishtaar." She started with a simple introduction. She then led him through a hall with many stone carvings on the walls covered in glass English and Jap translations of the markings on placks under each of the carvings. All the while, she started to talk about fate and destiny to which Kaiba snorted at.
"You had better get to the point, I didn't come here to get some history leason." Seto growled after a few minutes of her talking.
"See Seto your life is more complex then you might think for you were reborn twice to live out what destiny has set for you." Isis continued seemingly ignoring the complaints from Seto as if she knew they were coming.
Seto growled once again and turned to leave when he was stopped in his tracks by one carving of what looked like him with a girl. The girl had the same shape and form from the one in his dreams. But in this picture he could almost make out a side profile of the woman's face. "That girl!" He said in a shocked tone of voice. "Who is she?!"
"Now you are starting to get it Seto. That girl is a large part of your destiny. Within two lifetimes, you two were married." Isis started to explain.
"There is no way in Hell!!!" Seto screamed in disbelief.
"Yes, I have seen it Seto." Isis replied. "Allow me to show you with the powers of my necklace. Before Seto could blink or complain, he found himself bathed in a golden light staring at the red planet and a scene between himself and the girl from his dreams.
**********************flashback*******************
The sun was low in the sky as night was about to fall. A girl stood outside the palace gates on a road overlooking the rose gardens that lie beyond the palace. The wind blew her long raven colored hair in the wind and out of her face which gave off a wonderful glow from the setting sun. She was waiting for her one true love to return from a long hard day in the battle field. "Its good to see you again Lord Kaiba." Came her soft voice seemingly floating on the wind to his ears as he approached her.
"As it is to see you princess." He replied. "I am home to stay until another mission comes up."
"I hope that isn't for a long time." Replied the girl as she moved to hug him once he had dismounted.
The man leaned down returning her hug taking one of her hands in his planting a small kiss on it. He then rose to look down into her eyes which shown with a sparkle of happiness. The sun had almost set by this time. Stars could be seen poking through the skyas the last rays of daylight left it. "Come lets get inside it will be dark soon." The young mars princess replied softly.
"I agree." Seto replied.
"Mother has prepared a large feast in your honor." The princess stated as she led him inside.
On the way in Seto pulled a red long steemed rose from a near by flower arragment and stopped the princess before placing it in her hair. He looked into her eyes once more before speaking, "Allow me the honor of being your escort my lady."
"Call me Rei please." The fire princess said with a blush not able to look him ack in the eye.
"It would be my pleasure." Seto replied lifting her chin to gaze in her eyes once more.
Rei smiled brightly and stopped to dress properly for dinner. Once dressed she allowed Seto to escort her. The entire way he was speaking kindly to her and saying things every woman wished they ould hear. He didn't know how to break it to her, but he was going to perpose as soon as he could get her mother's concent, and figure out the perfect way to tell her. He wanted to make sure everything was right and perfect, beause this girl was the one he wished to not only serve, ut spend the rest of his life with.
******end of flashback********
"OH my god I do not belive this!?" Seto exclaimed once the visions had stopped flashing before his eyes and he was back in the hallway with all of the stone carvings. "this can't be real!"
"Oh yes it is Seto, these are true events from your past. This princess does exist and lives not far from here in a city called Tokyo." Isis replied.
"I have no reason to belive this." Seto continued rambeling.
Isis continued to ignore him and went on with her speech. Seto growled thinking she was some rather annoying bitch, that is until she mentioned duel monsters cards. That is when his greed and lust for power took over control of his anger again. She smirked knowing he would go for the card and want the others. ::Now is my chance.:: she thought as she watched him leaving. ::The events of the past will happen again and he will learn:: she added as an afterthought.
One week later Seto had everything set. He still tried to shake off those last words Isis had said, but found them hard to ignore.
******Flashback**********
"One last thing Kaiba, you must invite these five girls , they will play an important role in your life and the lives of your friends." She said.
"Yeah right. But I'll do it if it will shut you up, who are they?"
"Kayla Tsukino, Ami Anderson, Rei Hino, Mokoto Kino, and Minako Anio." Isis Replied as her final words to him.
******end of flashback*********************
With those names ringing like a bell in his head, Seto set to work hand writing out those last five invites. Within the hour His invites were all sent out, now he just had to wait and see who would accutally show up.
A few days later in Tokyo, Kayla yawned and opened the mailbox to check if she got anything good. She thumbed through the mail and found a letter simply marked Kc in the top lefthand corner. She flipped it open as she returned to the house reading it on the way. "Oh my God" she shrieked dropping the letter on the floor. " I never get invited to anything!!!" she said glad she was the only one home at the time, and that she had the place to herself. A moment later her cell phone rang and she jumped slightly at the sound. "Hello?" she asked into it.
"Hi Kayla-chan, its me Rei." Her friend Rei replied into the other end. "can you meet us at our meeting place?" she asked.
"Sure what is this about?" She asked.
"Well did you get a strange leter in the mail with the return address just labled KC?" Rei asked.
"Yes." Kayla stated.
"Well so did everyone, we need to meet to decied on what to do." Rei replied.
Kayla nodded. "Ok I'll be there in five minutes." She stated as she locked the door and headed to the game store to meet with her friends.
Once there she headed to a room that only she and her friends could access. "Hi guys." She said once she had entered the room and took her place. All of her friends sitting at a round table in the center of the room.
"HI Kayla." They all said to her at once.
"So what do you think we should do? This sounds like something fun." Minako said brightly.
"I would have to agree it sounds fun, and I don't think there is any real danger here." Ami put in.
"Well sounds like it could be a trap, but then again, at the same time I think we should. I have been getting vibes lately and all my visions point to a terment, maybe this is the one my visions ment." Rei said thinking outloud.
"Then its agreed, maybe we will find the answers to our dreams." Kayla added smiling.
"Hey guys, we better hury, we only have a week, and these were sent a few days ago, so we best get on the next train. " Makoto reminded rereading the information on the letter.
"Lets get packed then!" Kayla chirped exittedly and jumped up from her seat only to fall back down into it again.
"Take it easy Kayla chan." Rei laughed. K"I'll give you a hand," she said helping her friend with what she needed.
"Lets all try and make the last train of the day ok girls?" Kayla said before they all left to pack their things.
