A/n: I may not have been very clear when I started to mix up transformations and attacks. Since I used the English dubbed names, I will continue doing so. The attacks, transformations, etc, will come from the live action. Also please excuse the formatting, I'll try and find some way in which to space things out.

On another side note: The reason I didn't describe the transformation when Makoto (lita) transformed was because she transformed while running.

Chapter 4: The girl from the dream

--

Yugi sighed as his fingers moved through the motion of dialing. He and Seto rarely got a long, so the young duelist never had any reason for calling him. He knew the CEO quite well, and knew that he could be very hot-headed. If it hadn't been for Yami, the spirit within the puzzle, Yugi would not be sitting here waiting for someone to pick up, while wishing and praying for the machine. However, today it appeared luck would not be on his side. “Kaiba…speaking.” an all to fimular voice grumbled.

“Gomen ne Kaiba-kun demo is Tsukino, Kayla-san there?” Yugi had found is voice but fidgeted with the cord as he spoke. He hated to catch the teen CEO in a bad mood, which made him nervous around him more then normal.

“I'll check runt.” Kaiba grumbled placing the phone down and calling out for the girl in question. “Tsukino-san! Phone!”

The brown haired girl grumbled as she approached the room where the shouting had come from. She didn't really know anyone here so she didn't know who'd be calling for her? Who knew where she was staying, except for her friends, which all knew if they wanted to speak with her they could reach her on her cell. “Moushi Moushi?”

“Ano….Tsukino-san I was wondering….that is, my name is Motou Yugi and, I have a friend who'd like to speak with you. I was wondering if perhaps…we could meet…or he could pick you up. I know you're new in town and probly will be leaving after the ternement….”

“Why doesn't this “friend” call on me themselves? Unless they do not exist, and if so he or she sure needs some guts.” Kayla quipped rather bitterly. She hadn't gotten much sleep in the last few weeks, and felt more then just a little irritable.

Yugi sighed to himself not completely surprised by the reaction. He struggled to find the right words. “Matte Tsukino-san he's here with me, he just didn't know the number.”

Yami cringed hearing the words coming from his friend's lips. Would he have to talk to Kayla now? Damn he hoped not. What would he say to her? Or more importantly what could he possibly say? ::Yugi I can't….::
Yugi turned to his bed where Yami sat in his ghost-like form. He gave the spirit this “you have to look I can't protect you from this” look before forcing said spirit to take his place.

“Hello? Tsukino-san? I'm um….Yami….and I was wondering if I could pick you up and um…..we can talk. I've been having some strange dreams and thought perhaps if we met…” Yami could feel himself sweating as he stumbled around trying to figure out exactly what to say. He had no idea, and quite frankly what could he say? Oh why couldn't Yugi just handle it, the smaller boy was more of a people person, where Yami did lack social skill.

Kayla nearly felt like hanging up the phone, but when she heard the words “strange dreams” she reconsidered her actions. She thought back to her dreams, due to her vision she never did see much, when dreaming but voices she could remember clearly. :: Well he does sound like the man from my dreams, perhaps….:: she thought, ::what's one date going to hurt? After all if she did plan on moving here, or being anywhere near the competition, she'd have to get to know some people other then her four friends. “Ok….well then how does tomorrow sound?”

“That's fine, I can pick you up in the morning….or after lunch….” Yami continued. “I don't really know the choice is yours.”

“Right…. I'm not a morning person so afternoon sounds good. Say around 12? Here take down this number, I can be reached easier that way.” She then gave her phone number out hoping, and praying she hadn't made a big mistake.

“Arigatou Tsukino-san! See you tomorrow…Ja….” Yami sounded much happier now almost excited to see her, but he couldn't for the life of him figure out why. Maybe Tomorrow would solve some more puzzles that swum through his head.

“Now that wasn't so bad was it?” Yugi questioned appearing beside Yami this time taking on the ghost-like form.

“No I guess not. You know now that I've talked to her some, I'm also positive she's the girl from our dreams. I don't know why, but I just feel it. Though I'm slightly worried too.”

“Worried how?”

“Like we're running out of time, like we have to solve this puzzle before people start getting hurt. It feels almost like there will be more to this then just a simple tournament.

If it had have been anyone else Yugi would tell them they were over-reacting. But, when it came to Yami, and their recent history, he knew far better than to question things. He sighed once again switching places and heading into the kitchen for dinner. He half expected his grandfather to be back by now, but knew the elder man would often get easily distracted. He fixed himself something simple and then headed for the shower. Tomorrow would prove to be a long day for them both, and Yugi begun to doubt this would be a good idea.

--

Kayla replaced the phone back on its hook and then begun to search the house for her best friend Rei. She knew the mico would have to be somewhere, perhaps studying the fire again. Rei had been doing a lot of that as of late, and Kayla knew that she'd probly end up on her own. She could hear the sounds of the fire popping away and sighed retreating from the room. Returning to her own room, she tore through her belongings selecting what she'd ware tomorrow. Normally she often didn't give much thought to her appearance, dressing in the first thing she could find. But, for a reason known to her she wanted to appear nice, nicer then she normally appeared to strangers.

She often wondered why she appeared to care about what one person thought of her. After all he was but only one stranger among many she'd meet during her time here. So why should she care what he thought of her? She knew nothing about him, so she could be walking into a trap, but the since of urgency tugged at the back of her mind preventing her from forgetting it. Something felt off, and she knew things could get dangerous in the blink of an eye.

She could feel her stomach twisting and turning a sudden feeling of fear filling her being. But, this fear was unlike any she'd ever felt. It wasn't that “oh my god I'm going to die” feeling, but more like “I hope he likes me.” Why did she suddenly care? Up until now she hadn't shown any desire to like any one in a sexual nature. The subject of sex, being directed at her often made her feel uneasy, and she thought the subject to be gross and wrong on more than one level. But, for some reason, now she started to think perhaps pursuing something other than friendship seemed interesting…something she wanted to experience for herself. She allowed the subject to vanish while she considered a bath to help calm her. Her dreams, and now emotions such as love, had driven her to distraction and she wanted more than anything to forget it all.

She dug through her clothes until she found her bathing supplies. Even though Seto had gone out of his way to make sure the adjoining bathroom was well stalked, Kayla perfered her own things over those of others, not that she didn't feel thankful the CEO had gone out of his way to do this. She felt around placing her supplies neatly around her before reaching over to start the tub. She adjusted the water testing it every-so-often to ensure it felt right, before she set to work removing her clothes and slipping in. The hot water felt soothing to her skin and she allowed her mind to drift. The next day promised to be both enjoyable, and difficult for her and she wanted to relax.

She spent a good hour and a half in the tub before draining it of its contents and replacing her bathing supplies. She dried herself carefully and place her clothes in a hamper she'd found in the bathroom. She would have to ask where she could wash her things when the time came, but for now they were out of the way. She lie on her bed the towel she'd used to dry herself the only thing covering her delicate form. She closed her eyes scattered images flying by of her dreams the moment she did. ::Better turn in it looks like I'm not going to get much sleep tonight:: she thought bitterly removing the towel and slipping under her covers. Within minutes her mind had tossed her into yet another restless dream-filled sleep.

Dream sequence

The music echoed off the walls filling the ball room completely. Men and woman dressed in their finest clothes danced to the music, enjoying the festivities. One man however stood out, much like a sore thumb with his wild spikes. His lavender eyes searched the crowd looking for someone. He became concerned however when she appeared to be late. Just as he was about to give up he spotted her sitting off in a corner. “Princess why do you sit alone?”

“My mother wishes it so. She says I'd be too much in the way.” She replied bitterly. “She does not wish me to get in the way of my dear sister.”

“My lady why do you allow her to treat you this way?” He had placed his hands over hers and looked into her eyes. She didn't look back, her eyes remained trained in front of her, almost as if she were in some trance, but anyone who knew her the reason was due to her blindness.

“She is my mother, without her I would not exist. She could have killed me years ago, but she did not. So I have devoted my life so as not to anger her.” Her voice remained soft but bitter.

“Well dear princess, care to dance? I'm aware of your ill helth and do not wish to bring harm to you.”

The princess allowed a soft smile to grace her lips before she rose her dress flowing freely around her feet. She took the offered hand allowing him to lead her to the dance floor. He had kept his promise and remained gentle with her moving slowly so as not to tire her.

“Are you well lady Celina?” he inquired when he saw her starting to tire.

“Why no Pharaoh Atemu….I'm alright. Thank you for your concern.” She closed her eyes enjoying the moment. She didn't want it to end for moments like this were rare. When the song ended Atemu led her back to her wheelchair and joined her.

“You filth how dare you attend such an event. I should have you killed for this, but in view of my daughter's birthday I'll spare your life.” Queen Serenity spat, mother to the wheelchair bound princess, and one other princess who at the moment danced oblivious to the conversation going on practically right in front of her. “You may be a noble, on earth, but here you're scum.” The woman spat backhanding Atemu.

End of Dream Sequence

Kayla shot up in bed cold sweat dripping from every place possible. She tossed off the sheets limping to the bathroom to splash cool water on her face. That had been the most vivid of her dreams to date and this made her doubt today's outing. But at the same time she couldn't turn her back. She knew the memories pertained to a pervious life, her own. She knew she had once been a princess during a time of so-called peace. Queen Serenity had also been the picture of perfection, wishing for equality and harmony to spread throughout the solar system, but Kayla's latest dream blew all of that out of the water.

She felt around in the dark for her talking watch which she'd placed in a box located on her nightstand before her bath. She depressed the button that would announce the time, becoming alarmed at the time. She had to press it once more to assure herself she'd heard it correctly. The smell of breakfast wafting in from the kitchen downstairs confirmed her suspissions. She dressed in what could be considered decent night attire and headed downstairs to spend some time with her friends and find out their plans. “So Lita-chan what's up?”

“Ohayo Kayla-chan, I didn't think you'd be up this early.” The other girl commented. Normally her friend would sleep well past noon so to see her up this early was a bit of a surprise.

“I just couldn't sleep.” The other girl replied pushing herself under the table. Since she spent most of her time in her wheelchair, Seto had arranged a place for her to sit under the table. At first he had complained but Rei had quickly put a stop to that.

“So what are your plans for today?”

“Around lunch time, I'm going to go out with someone.” Kayla stirred the contents of the dish that Lita placed in front of her, her voice low full of doubt. “I'm wondering what I'm doing though. I mean last night I had the most vivid dream out of all of them so far.

“How vivid, like what exactly Kayla-chan. Was it-“ Rei caught the last part of the conversation as she entered the room and Kayla had to cut her off.

“Iie it wasn't anything like that. It just lasted longer and had the most detail.” The girl begun to eat slowly recounting the events of her dream to her two friends.

“You know I had a dream similar to that shortly after arriving and meeting Seto-sama.” Rei admitted.

“You know Rei-chan now that I think of it, I too drempt of a boy, I think he's the one I defended yesterday.” Lita recalled. “In any case, it may do you good to see this person.”

Kayla nodded not totally agreeing with her friend's advice, but at the same time it did make sence. After all what could one little day hurt? She cleared her plate and then headed off to her room to change her clothes.

--

Yugi too had woken early and completed his chores in record time. His grandfather looked at his grandson with great confusion. “Big day today?”

“Not for me, for the spirit in the puzzle.” Yugi replied recounting the conversation he'd had the previous day. “He hopes seeing this girl will unlock some parts of his lost memory.

“Be careful Yugi, you could be walking right into a trap.

“Grandpa please I'll be fine, what's one day going to hurt?” He then snatched up the cordless and dashed off to his room so Yami could call this girl in private.
