~Yugi's house~
"Tell me again why you're home early, Aibou," Yami said, sitting on his bed in his and Yugi's room that they shared. Said boy was lying down on his bed, staring up at the ceiling. His grandpa had made him change into pajamas, and he was wearing his dark magician pajama pants and a loose white t-shirt.
"Jou-kun said something to the nurse when we walked in, and she looked at me funny. Then she said I needed to go home and called Grandpa."
"Did she tell grandpa what Jonouchi said?" the taller boy asked, getting up and sitting next to his light on the bed. Yugi sighed, and closed his eyes.
"If she did, he didn't tell me."
Yami looked at Yugi concerned, and patted the small boy's head. Yugi was always happy and cheerful. Something must have happened in those first 20 minutes of school before Yugi came back. And the former pharaoh was going to find out what that something was. He started stroking his light's head; and proposed the question quite bluntly,
"Aibou, did something happen in school today?"
Yugi opened one amethyst eye; looking at his yami thoughtfully, before answering, "Yes, actually."
"Care to tell me what it was?" Yami asked, curious. Yugi snuggled up to the taller boy, wrapping his arms around his yami's waist. "Y-Yugi!" said boy stuttered.
"What? I only saw a girl in the window today walking towards the nurse's office. Or at least I think that's what I was doing. I can't remember." Yugi snuggled closer, making his yami blush.
"Well, that's interesting," Yami commented, hesitantly wrapping his arms around his aibou as well. Since when has Yugi been this affectionate? I only confessed I had feelings for him a week ago. He hasn't returned an answer yet…
"Yami…"
"Yes, Yugi?" Yami said, hoping he would get an answer from his not-so-secret-love now. The small boy kissed his yami's lower back; which sent shivers up the said boy's spine.
"That girl…she made the lights go out last night," Yugi said, settling back into his previous position. Yami sighed, he was so sure that Yugi felt the same way; he even thought he could feel it pulsing through the bond they shared. "Yami?" Yugi asked again, nuzzling into Yami's back, making the former pharaoh jump a little.
"Yes?"
"I love you," whispered the small boy, and Yami stared down at his hikari in disbelief.
L-love me? He said it…right? He actually said…he really does…I can't believe it…my hikari…I love you so much… the taller boy kissed the top of Yugi's head softly, voicing his last thought to Yugi in a whisper, and they spent the rest of the morning snuggling on Yugi's bed.
~After school, Ryou's house~
"'Kura-kun! I'm home!" Ryou called, closing the door behind him softly. He walked into the kitchen, throwing his keys on the table and wondering where Bakura had gone off to.
"Ryou-chaaaaaaaaaan!" his yami yelled, skidding into the kitchen; panting and waving his arms around. Unfortunately he slid right into the kitchen table, banging right into it and promptly falling over cursing. He kicked the aforementioned table with his foot, causing him even more pain and caused Ryou to hear more curses.
"Bakura! Calm yourself!" Ryou scolded, hauling a still cursing Bakura to his feet. He set him down in a mahogany kitchen chair, and waited patiently until his yami calmed down.
"R-Ryou! There…there was a girl floating outside my window!!" Bakura yelled leaving Ryou's ears ringing after he finished.
"A girl?"
"Yes! I looked outside the window because I just lost in my favorite video game and wanted to throw something out the window---but I didn't!" He added hastily as he saw Ryou's angry face starting to form, "and I saw her STARING at me!"
A girl? If Bakura is this freaked out…maybe Yugi saw him too? And that's why he was acting so weird in class this morning? I have to find that out!
"Ryou, bunny?" Bakura asked innocently, taking Ryou's hand.
"Don't call me that!" Ryou almost shrieked, pulling his hand away from his yami's. "What were you gonna say?"
"Oh…just that the girl mouthed something through the window before she left."
"Do you know what it was?" Ryou asked, starting to become agitated and impatient.
"Nope! I'm no good at reading lips," Bakura smiled and stood up out of the chair.
"Well, if that's all, I'll be going to do my homework now," Ryou turned around and headed for the staircase. Two strong arms wrapped around him and stopped him dead in his tracks before he took a second step.
"My tenshi…cheer up, okay?" Bakura whispered into his light's ear. Ryou leaned back against him for a moment, feeling his yami's breath on his neck, and the security he always felt in his arms.
"Thanks `Kura. I'll be in my room, okay?" Ryou pulled out of his yami's grip and went up to his room, three steps up the staircase at a time.
That girl is causing all this!!! Bakura growled angrily. She will meet an early demise. I don't care if she can float or not. No one makes my tenshi like this and lives! And with that said in his mind, he stomped up to his room and slammed the door, making his hikari in the other room jump in surprise.
~On the streets~
The mysterious girl wandered the streets again, making people stare at her as she passed. One old lady walked up to her, and bent down to her eye level.
"Are you lost, young one?" the woman asked kindly. The girl shook her head, and pushed past the lady; startling her.
Must find mommy…mommy's here! I saw her! I can't believe it…
She trudged on, ignoring all the people who stared at her. Her direction was west, and it looked like she was headed in the direction of the Kaiba mansion. A man sitting on the street spotted the girl walking by, and raised his head. He was about 25-30 years old and had curly brown hair. He was wearing torn clothes, and a dirty blue baseball cap rested on top of his hair. He smiled, and pulled himself up slowly. He followed the girl for a few minutes, then seized her arm; jerking her backwards into him.
"Oh, sorry little girl," he apologized, smirking. She looked up at him with her huge dark purple eyes, and frowned. "Come with me…" the man pulled her back into an alleyway. He held her down roughly and pushed her up against the wall. One of his hands snaked their way to the top of her dress.
"I must find my mommy!!" The girl shrieked, and closes her eyes. Suddenly the man was thrown backwards into the opposite wall, twitching and knocked unconscious. His baseball cap slid off his head and onto the floor. The girl stood up and walked over to him, picking the cap up and twisting it in her hands. "Bad man," she pointed at him and walked out of the alleyway, still holding the cap.
~Yugi-chan's~
"My tenshi…" Yami whispered, holding Yugi against him as they both lay on Yugi's bed with his dark magician sheets.
"My darkness…" mumbled Yugi, snuggling closer into his lover's chest. They had been like that all day, and Yugi's grandfather had walked in on them numerous times; each time was just as surprising as the first.
"Yugi…oh my goodness!!" Yugi's grandpa yelled. "Sorry boys, gets me every time…"
"That's okay grandpa," Yugi smiled like an angel, "what's up?"
"Dinner's ready, if you want some," Sugoroku smiled, turning around and heading down the steps. "Oh and Yugi," he turned around and smiled again, "you and Yami look made for each other."
"Thanks grandpa, that means a lot to me," Yugi said joyfully, hugging Yami tightly. Yami thanked Yugi's grandpa as well, kissing the top of his light's forehead.
"Ready for some dinner, my hikari?" The former pharaoh asked, smiling down at the smaller boy. Yugi snuggled even closer to his yami, not wanting this moment to end.
"Just a little longer…" he mumbled, and Yami nodded in agreement. Just a little longer…I wish it could last forever… Yugi thought, nuzzling into his yami's well-built chest. Outside the window, a street lamp lit automatically as the shadows began to descend, wrapping themselves around buildings and streetlights; and the wind began to blow fiercely, beating against the game shop and rattling the leaves on the trees.
Yami sensed a weird presence around the shadows this night, but was too caught up in Yugi to think anything more of it. He pushed away the nagging in the back of his mind mentally, and ignored the sudden change in weather outside. He was also oblivious to the shadows dancing around the corners of his hikari's room. They hovered near the ground, waiting for the right time to make their move. All of this happened in the few moments the couple shared together, before walking hand in hand to dinner.
~Kaiba Mansion~
"Hey, Jou! Supper is ready," Mokuba called up the grand staircase. In the kitchen, the cook served out chicken, with rice and peas on the side, which made both Kaiba and Mokuba flinch. The room was huge, with a chandelier hanging right above the table the two brothers were sitting at. There were two big windows taking up the wall farthest from the door and navy blue curtains were pulled aside to get a night view of the city. In accordance to the curtains, the rest of the room was decorated in blue-based things; even the carpet, plates and utensils were blue. Jonouchi walked in to the delicious smell, and his mouth watered instantly.
"Thanks," he told the cook, who nodded and walked out of the room. He sat down eagerly and was about to dig right in when Kaiba stopped him.
"Remember mutt, we use table manners here," he scolded, folding his baby blue napkin neatly and picking up the knife and fork next to the plate. This little episode usually occurred at every meal, because the blonde wasn't used to such sophisticated table manners considering his background.
"Ah, sorry Kaiba. Forgot again," the blonde laughed nervously and picked up the utensils quickly. Damn it! Messed up again! C'mon Jonouchi, man! Pull yourself together! …Hey these utensils are blue. Wait a minute, weren't they always blue? Have I lost my mind!?
Kaiba watched Jonouchi's mental episode with amusement. Good, let him fear me. He should, I am Seto Kaiba after all. The only one who shouldn't fear me is Mokuba. Hmm…were the utensils always blue? Damn, I knew this room should have been the crystal room!
Mokuba shifted glances between Jonouchi and his brother, both locked in their own thoughts it seemed. Well, dinner hasn't been this quiet in a while. Mokuba thought, cutting a piece of chicken and sticking it in his mouth. He chewed on it thoughtfully, until something caught his eye. He turned slightly to his left where his brother was sitting, and also where the glass windows were right behind him. Outside the window, there was a faint glow. It seemed almost…angelic. Mokuba was fascinated and squinted a little to see what was beyond the glow. The glow still obscured his vision and he became frustrated. He got up out of his chair quietly and tiptoed over to the glass. He pressed his face up against it lightly so it wouldn't break and peered closer. The glow seemed to be coming from a person. But that's impossible! Mokuba thought, humans can't fly!! And they can't glow either…is it an…angel maybe? Looking closer, he saw long flowing hair, connected to a petit girl in a dress. Her eyes were closed, but Mokuba couldn't find the wings anywhere. At that moment, her eyes opened slightly, revealing dark purple orbs.
"Mokuba? What are you doing at the window?" Kaiba asked, snapping out of his thoughts and turning around; seeing Mokuba absent from his chair.
"Nothing onii-chan," Mokuba said, tearing himself away from the window and sitting back down. He looked over at the window one last time and the glow had faded. Kaiba followed his gaze to the window, raising one eyebrow.
"And what's so fascinating out there?"
"I said nothing, Seto," Mokuba stared down at his blue-hued plate and picked at his food the rest of the meal.
Man, Mokuba's actin' down. Wonder what happened at that window over there. Jonouchi pondered, slicing himself a big piece of his chicken and devouring it quickly.
I think…I just came face to face with an angel… Mokuba repeated to himself over and over in his mind. In the reflection of the plate, he could almost see her face. Those dark purple orbs of hers were imprinted in his mind.
"Ano…can I be excused?" Mokuba asked quietly. Kaiba looked up from his plate, and glanced at Mokuba's. Noting that only a quarter of his dinner seemed to be eaten, he sighed.
"Alright, Mokuba."
"Thanks Seto," Mokuba nodded to his brother, and walked out of the room quickly.
He's up to something… Kaiba thought, narrowing his eyes at the closed door his brother just left from.
~Mokuba's room~
She was so pretty… Mokuba said to himself, taking out his old sketching pad and a new pencil. He sharpened it quickly and got to work. He didn't even need to think, her image was permanently imprinted in his mind. His thoughts began to take form on the rough paper, first the head, then the body. The eyes came next, then her hair. He was so fixed on his drawing, he didn't notice Kaiba open the door a crack and peer in. He added the last details as his brother closed the door quickly.
"Done!" He said out loud, joyfully. The picture looked exactly like her, besides the fact it wasn't colored in yet. He stared at his work proud, and something jumped into his mind. What will I name her?
"I got it!" He said excitedly as it started to rain outside, tapping against his window softly. He scribbled something down on the paper and left to sneak a desert from the kitchen. On the paper was written…
"Aria, the rainmaker."
