Broken Reality
Chapter 8: Share
The rain pattered down hard against the cement path. Sitting on the bench, drenched by the downpour and looking quite small, Yugi stared at the ground. Thoughts, sad and angry, rushed through his mind. He wanted to push Yami away, to tell him to stop being so damn nice but he just couldn't get his arms to move.
Yami took action and before he could even start to move he was swept into strong arms. Deciding it wasn't wroth the effort to fight one more offence, he allowed it and soon found himself in his own room. With careful hands, Yami removed his wet clothes and dried him with one of the fluffy towels from the bathroom.
In mere moments they were both settled into bed, the dim afternoon sunlight still filtering through the open curtains.
"Aibou?"
"Yes Yami."
"I understand now." He drew Yugi close, placing a light kiss on his temple, "I won't treat you that way, the wrong way, again. But you have to promise me something as well."
"What?"
"Promise me the next time will be happy."
Drawing their hands together and entwining their fingers, Yugi whispered in Yami's ear, "I promise."
And though the thought of a next time should scare him, and perhaps it did somewhere deep within, he couldn't let it bother him as the warmth of Yami's mind guided him into sleep.

Yugi walked into the room with a purposeful stride. Dropping his math book onto the table with a slam, he looked at Yami who simply raised an eyebrow.
"I know how," Yugi stated cryptically.
"You know how what?"
"I know how I'm going to make them see."
Yami sighed. Grabbing his light about the waist, he pulled the boy down to sit in his lap. "I thought this was all okay now."
"Its all okay with you, but them," he growled playfully, looking every bit as fierce as a baby kitten.
Yami chuckled, "Just don't get into trouble Aibou."
"Right. That's why I wanted to ask you first," he said seriously, picking at the cloth of Yami's sleeve.
"Ask me?"
Yugi nodded, "Is it okay if I...if I tell them about us?"
Yami's look went serious. Shifting Yugi around, he arranged them face to face. "Aibou, I would like nothing more than to tell others about the wonderful treasure I've found in you. And if you think they are ready, and--and that you are ready, then it is fine with me. But please be careful."
Ready. The word echoed in his mind. Last time he had been unsure and it had led only to trouble. Was he really /ready/ to tell his friends such a personal thing? But surely, if they knew, they would accept him. He had done a very adult thing, not simply the act but choosing Yami, finding the person he knew he was to spend the rest of his life with.
"Yami, do you love me?" he asked plainly, fiddling with the shining buttons on Yami's jacket.
"Yes."
"Then that is all that matters."
Yami was a bit confused by the statement but decided not to push it, besides, he was much to busy creating a perfect little mark on Yugi's neck. The boy moaned, letting his head fall to the side. Yami one hand fall to the small of Yugi's back, balancing him as he used the other to peal off the loose t-shirt the other had been wearing. Leaning forward, he captured on pink nipple between his teeth feeling Yugi's hands clasp tightly on his shoulders. Shifting just so, he brought their newly formed arousals colliding into one another through the thin fabrics of their pants.
It was just as he started to fumble with the snap on Yugi's jeans when there was a cough. Two sets of eyes went wide, turning instantly to the doorway to see Grandpa.
Yugi tried to get up, Yami tried to stand, and they both ended up in a tangle on the floor.
Grandpa simply stepped over them. Retrieving the abandoned shirt, he offered it to Yugi with a tiny smile, "Not in the kitchen boys."
Both nodded and did their best to scurry out before more embarrassment could befall them.
~*~
Sitting on the tree swing, Yugi swung his feet as Yami idly pushed him back and forth.
"I can't believe that happened," Yugi sighed, cheeks still red with embarrassment.
"I'm sorry Aibou, I got carried away."
Yugi laughed lightly, "Well, at least we know Grandpa doesn't mind...as long as its not in the kitchen."
~*~
Yugi had planned for nearly three days on how exactly he was going to tell his friends. He thought perhaps the direct approach was in order, but there was no way he could just walk up to them and say 'I'm gay and I'm sleeping with the other me that came from the millennium puzzle'. No. That was not a good idea.
But there was another way to be direct. Learning through demonstration. But how exactly did one set up such a thing? After several attempts where his intentions were overcome by pure embarrassment, fate provided an opportunity.
Saturday afternoon everyone had congregated at the card shop to debate the plans for the school-free day. Joey suggested lunch, Tristan a movie, and Tea, well, she had other ideas. Drawing Yugi off to the side, she explained her plot.
"Yugi, don't you think it would be nice of you to let Yami have a little time to himself?" she queried, holding Yugi's arm with a tight hand, as if the physical pressure alone might convince him of her point.
"Why Tea?"
"Well, I was just thinking, he spends all of his time with you, and maybe he'd like to, you know, go out for a change."
"We go out. Just the other day--"
"No!" she whispered tersely, acting quite strange, "Go out, like with a girl."
Realization dawned quite suddenly on Yugi. Jealousy swelled instantly in his mind, but he pushed it down fiercely. No one had done anything, and Yami would never--
Wait. That was not the point.
"I don't think Yami would like that Tea," Yugi said, trying his best to smile.
"And just why not?" her hands fell to her hips, a pose of the affronted.
"Um...well...he," was it really right to reveal something about Yami before doing so about himself.? No, certainly not.
"He what? I think I'm perfectly capable of making Yami happy. Don't you want your friend to be happy Yugi? You keep him to yourself, never let him have any fun. He's a man for god's sake! You can't just keep him locked away--" her voice was escalating, leaving its whisper behind in anger.
"I do no such thing!" Yugi winced at his own yell.
The other three stared at them, Yami clearly aware of what was happening, Joey and Tristan confused.
"You do!" Tea responded, "You force him to stay with you all the time, and don't even give me a chance--"
"Tea, please," Yugi tried to pacify her, he didn't want to fight, not at all.
"Stop being so damn selfish. Yami doesn't have to be with you all the time!"
"He likes being with me! He--" No. No, he couldn't. He just couldn't tell his precious secret to someone in anger. It didn't deserve such a degradation.
"He what Yugi?" she prompted. "He doesn't want to go out? He doesn't want other friends? He wants to be locked away and miserable?!" There were unshed tears forming in her eyes. So long she had been denied the very look of Yami's eyes, and she wanted it so badly.
"He...he...," Yugi fumbled, dieing to say it but knowing it would make her cry. He didn't want to hurt his friend.
"He hates you!" she yelled.
Unable to respond, Yugi stood trembling not sure if it was in anger or fear that something she was saying was true.
/Aibou?/
//I...I...not true...please, not true...//
Feeling the confusion and pain racing through his light's mind shook Yami into action. Nudging past the stunned Tristan, he stepped between the fighting duo. Tea's eye's went wide with hope, but she received only a glare. With gentle compassion, Yami wrapped his arms around Yugi, drawing the boy to his chest and holding him tightly in the stunned silence of the room.
/Yugi, may I?/
//Please.//
Pushing back a tiny bit, Yami leaned down to press his lips against Yugi's. The simple kiss escalated into one of deep love and passion, obvious a practiced act and allowing no question to the feelings behind it. They parted to quiet.
Joey was the first to move. With deliberate steps, he approached them. Laying a warm hand on Yami's shoulder, he stated a cordial, "Good for you," before turning to walk out the door. Yugi couldn't even respond and Yami made no move to.
Tea stared as if her moment had been taken away. "You can't be serious," she laughed, too high and too loud.
Slipping from Yami's arms, Yugi turned to Tea. Gently he took her left hand in both of his, asking her to be all right with it. "Tea, I love him."
Her right hand came across his face, landing a smack hard enough to turn his head.
"I hate you Yugi Motou! I hate you!"
