…Conversations…
“So, why were you late to class today? And why did the teacher have to drag you in by your ear?” Marik asked the last question with a tone of humor.
“Because I was talking in the hallways after the bell rang and I told her to leave me alone,” Bakura said as he threw some books in his bag and then followed Marik outside.
“Ah, typical,” Marik said and then looked at Bakura suspiciously and added: “Who were you talking to?”
“This new kid,” Bakura grunted out. He was ticked off that the teacher did not reprimand Ryou in anyway for talking in the hallways as well. The teachers were so biased.
“Oh?” Marik said raising an eyebrow, “Is that why you took off when we were at the lockers earlier today?”
Bakura grunted a yes but then added: “It was only because he looked so much like me. I just wanted to know who he was.”
“Aha,” Marik said skeptically.
“Shove it,” Bakura said in an annoyed fashion.
Marik finally found his motorcycle at the end of the school parking lot. “Are we still going out to eat later?” Marik said as he hopped on his bike and put his black leather jacket on along with his black helmet.
“Yeah, Yami and Kaiba are coming too,” Bakura said as he jumped into his Mercedes.
“Okay, see you then,” Marik said and then drove off.
Bakura started his car and then turned around as he reversed out of the lot. He beeped at the crimson-eyed youth, who was walking to his car, as he drove out. Yami waved at his friend and then found his way to his car, which was also a Mercedes, and pressed a small red button as the top of the car began to come down and then fold into the trunk. After that finished, he opened the car door and then sat down on the comfortable seat before turning on the radio to listen to some music.
When Yami turned to the side to look out and see if there was anything behind him, he was shocked to find someone sitting in his passenger seat; so shocked actually that he jumped and then immediately placed a hand over his heart.
“I'm sorry, Yami. Did I scare you?” Yugi said apologetically.
Yami nodded. “Yeah, a little,” he said and then smiled at he youth next to him.
“Do you need a ride somewhere or were you trying to steal my car?” Yami said and then smiled wider when Yugi giggled.
“No, I just wanted to see you again,” Yugi said innocently.
“Oh,” Yami said a little caught of guard. “Well, I can give you a ride anyways if you need one,” Yami insisted.
Yugi frowned a little. “I don't have anywhere to go.”
Yami gave off a puzzled expression. “What do you mean? You have a home, don't you?”
Yugi shook his head and suddenly Yami felt very sympathetic towards the small angelic boy next to him.
“Where do you sleep?” Yami asked softly.
Yugi looked slightly surprised. “I don't really sleep,” Yugi replied.
Yami looked down and after a few moments looked back at Yugi with a small smile. “I don't mean to be to forward but if you want you can stay with me for a little while. I mean, at least until you find a place to stay,” Yami offered.
Yugi smiled. “I would love to stay with you but are you sure I won't be a burden? Are you sure that you have space for me?”
Yami laughed. “Trust me; I have plenty of space in my house.”
“Well, if you really don't mind—“
“Not at all,” Yami said holding up a hand and then finally began to drive.
“So, Yugi, tell me a little about yourself. How old are you?”
Yugi scrunched up his face in thought and then said: “One thousand two hundred and seventy four.”
Yami laughed. “Well, don't you have a sense of humor?”
Yugi just smiled genuinely in response. Yami looked at Yugi's breathtaking smile and for a second was captivated at how beautiful this boy sitting next to him was until he heard a loud beep and then looked up to see that the light had turned green.
“So, are you a senior at Domino too?” Yami continued.
“I guess you could say that,” Yugi said. “I've been there for quite a while.”
Yami nodded. “I know what you mean. It feels like school never ends. How come this is the first year that I've seen you?”
“Well, I'm surprised that you can see me at all,” Yugi said honestly.
“Oh, not much of the social type?” Yami said.
“I try to make friends but no one can see me,” Yugi said distressingly.
Yami thought that was odd. Yugi was so polite and had a very striking appearance. It surprised him that he had blended into the background all these years.
“I know what you mean. When I was in elementary school, I felt like I was invisible for years. But now, I have all the friends I could ever ask for. And I'm sure you have some friends,” Yami said.
Yugi nodded happily. “Yeah, I have Jou, Ryou, and Malik. We've been friends forever.”
Yami smiled. “That's like me, Kaiba, Bakura, and Marik. As crazy as those bastards are, they're very good friends.”
Yugi nodded and then added: “And I have you.”
Yami slightly tilted his head. “What do you mean?”
“You know,” Yugi said, “as a friend. We're friends right?”
Yami nodded. “Of course we are Yugi.”
Yugi smiled. “Good because I really like you.”
Yami looked over at Yugi and smiled back. “I like you too. You're a very nice person.”
Yami pulled up to two large black gates and leaned out the window to speak into a small intercom. “It's me,” was all Yami said and then suddenly the two gates began to open.
“This is your house!?” Yugi said incredulously.
“Yup,” Yami said as he drove up the long driveway and then parked next to several other very expense-looking cars.
Yami then got out of the car and went around opening the car door for his new friend. Together, they both approached the large beautifully designed doors and entered the large house.
Marik drove up his driveway and parked his bike before he walked up the front stairs and into his house. He found his way to his large living room and plopped down on the jade green couch, tossing off his shoes in the process. He removed his leather jacket, throwing it carelessly on the carpeted floor and grabbed the remote control from the wooden coffee table.
“Joshua!” Marik called out as he flipped through the countless channels.
Immediately, a tall elderly man appeared and bowed upon his arrival. “Yes Marik?”
Marik didn't bother to look up as he said: “Bring me a beer and take my stuff upstairs.”
Joshua nodded and quickly vanished into the door that led to the kitchen. He returned with a can of beer, which Marik took happily.
His butler exited the room once again leaving Marik to watch TV by himself…or so he thought.
“Nice place you got here,” said a curious voice.
Marik jumped at the sudden voice and turned his head sharply to see a tanned adolescent sitting with his legs crossed on a tall bureau that was decorated with priceless artifacts. The boy had narrowed lavender eyes and a very amused smile on his face. His blonde hair was straight unlike the other Egyptian in the room. He had on a very thin purple sleeveless shirt with black pants.
“How the fuck did you get in here?” Marik said jumping to his feet.
The other boy smiled. “My name is Malik. I'm a ghost here to harass your life,” he said as he picked up a priceless vase and looked at it curiously.
“No,” Marik said, not exactly sure if he should approach the boy sitting on his bureau or not, “you're crazy and I'm about to call the cops.”
“Be my guest,” Malik said jumping down from the bureau and slowly began walking up to Marik until he was directly in front of him.
“Go ahead,” Malik said.
“What do you mean?” Marik said. He began to wonder if this boy really was crazy or if he was crazy.
Malik motioned towards his chest. “Touch me.”
“Touch you?” Marik said slightly lost.
Malik rolled his eyes. `Yeah, this one was a keeper,' he said to himself sarcastically.
“Put your hand on my chest,” Malik said in an annoyed tone.
Marik looked from the boy to the purple clad chest back to the boy. Hey, what did he have to lose?
Marik lifted his hand and reached out to touch the boy's chest but he didn't feel the hard surface that he had expected. In fact, he didn't feel anything.
“What the fuck!?” Marik jumped back a few steps and fell over the table in the middle of the table.
Malik laughed at the other's antics. “See, I told you so,” Malik said walking up to the other.
“No!” Marik yelled jumping back up to his feet. “No! You stay away from me!”
Malik sighed with a smile on his face. “Sorry but I'm here to stay.”
“Wait,” Marik said holding up his hands, “why are you doing this?”
“Why not?” Malik said shrugging his perfectly tan shoulders.
Marik glared. “No, you are going to get the fuck out of my house and leave me the fuck alone.”
Malik smiled wider. “Okay,” he said walking towards the door, “I'll leave…but I'll be back.”
Malik winked at Marik before he disappeared into the door. Marik couldn't believe what he just saw. Actually he didn't believe it.
Quickly, Marik ran up is stairs and opened a door that led into an extravagant bathroom. He turned on the shower to ice cold. This was going to be a long shower.
