[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Yuri: Hey Guys! Sorry I haven’t updated in like a week. I’m working two jobs so I’m a little busy right now but don’t worry, I’ll still be updating. So today I’ll update ‘Closer’ and then in the days that follow, I’ll update ‘Find Me’, ‘Disturbia’, and then ‘Love Forever’ in that order. See you at the bottom.
…The Ones...
Ryou approached his two friends sitting at the bar with a large smile.
“Hi guys,” Ryou said as he took a seat.
Jou smiled back at his friend. “Hey Ryou. Haven’t seen you in a few days. How are you?”
“I’m fine, thanks,” Ryou said and then looked over at Malik.
“Staying out of trouble?” Ryou said and then shook his head slightly when Malik flashed him a sheepish grin.
“Of course your not,” Ryou said and then turned around when he heard a familiar voice. Jou and Malik followed Ryou’s gaze to see another albino chatting with a boy who looked like Yugi’s twin and the brunet who gave a drink to Jou.
“You know him?” Jou asked curiously.
Ryou nodded. “Bakura,” the petite boy said quietly.
“How do you know his name?” Malik asked with a wide grin on his face.
“He told me,” Ryou replied.
Jou looked surprised. “He can see you?”
Ryou nodded once again.
Jou leaned back in his chair and placed both of his hands on the back of his head. “That’s the third one,” Jou said thoughtfully almost to himself.
Ryou raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”
Jou looked at his friend and said slowly: “Before you came there was another guy–“
“Marik,” Malik said taking a sip of Jou’s drink.
“Yeah,” Jou said taking his drink out of the Egyptian’s hands. “And this Marik guy can see Malik. And you see that brunet over there?” Jou said motioning to the table Bakura was at with his head. Ryou nodded his head as he glanced at the tall brunet.
“He can see me,” Jou continued. “And now you’re telling me that guy...umm Bakura?...Yeah, that he can see you.”
Ryou opened his eyes wide. “Wow…that’s never happened before?”
“What’s never happened before?” said a small voice and the three friends turned around to see a wild mane of colors and sparkling amethyst eyes.
“Yuge!” Jou said happily. He hadn’t seen his best friend in a few days, which was abnormal for him.
Yugi smiled and took a seat between Malik and Jou. “Hi Jou!” Yugi said brightly and then greeted Malik and Ryou as well.
“So, what’s never happened before?” Yugi said repeating his question.
Jou told Yugi what he had just explained to Ryou and the small boy nodded after the blonde was done talking.
“I see…” Yugi said slowly and then added: “Yami can see me too.”
Jou looked bewildered. “Who’s Yami?”
Yugi discreetly pointed to the boy at the table that had the same hair as him.
“This really is a first,” Malik said.
“Yeah, we’ve never had four people able to see all of us at the same time,” Ryou said crossing his arms.
Yugi smiled. “Maybe these four are the ones.”
Jou scoffed. “I doubt it.”
Yugi looked discouraged but Malik was the one who spoke.
“I don’t know about that,” Malik said with a smile. “Mine is kinda cute. You know, in the crazy, psychotic way.”
Jou rolled his eyes. “No offense Malik but you tend to drive the only people that can see you away.”
Malik glared. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Ryou giggled. “Sure you don’t.”
Jou leaned back even further in his chair. “So,” Jou said, “You’re saying that you think that you could fall in love with him?”
Malik put up his hands. “Hey, I didn’t say that but why just shove the possibility away?”
Ryou nodded. “I agree with Malik. We’ll never know if they’re the ones unless we try.”
Jou shook his head. “Why get our hopes up?” he said angrily. “Every century when people come along that can see us, we put our hearts out on our sleeves and sometimes wind up falling in love only to be rejected. Aren’t you guys sick of the pain by now?”
Yugi sighed. “Jou, I know that it hasn’t worked out in the past but we can’t give up.”
Jou got to his feet and grabbed his coat of the chair. “You guys can do whatever you want but I’m not going to put myself through this anymore.”
Yugi and his friends watched as Jou walked out of the dinner place.
“Well that went well,” Malik said sarcastically.
Yugi placed his head in his hands and after a few minutes of awkward silence, Malik stood to his feet as well. “I’m gonna get out of here. See you guys tomorrow,” Malik said following Jou’s direction and exitting through the door.
“What about you, Yugi?” Ryou said when it was just them two.
Yugi turned his head to face Ryou and then glanced back at the table that Yami and his two friends sat at. Yami was so involved in a conversation with his friends that he didn’t even notice the smaller boy.
“I think,” Yugi said looking back at Ryou. “That these are the ones.”
Ryou nodded thoughtfully and then stood up. “I hope you’re right,” Ryou said and then bid his friend farewell.
Yugi sat in his seat and watched Yami. The older of the two was without a doubt beautiful and kind but was he really the one. Yugi had by now figured out that Yami didn’t know that he was a ghost even though the amethyst-eyed boy had tried to tell him. What would happen when Yami found out? Yugi was terrified to know the answer.
…
Kaiba walked up to the black limo that was stationed outside and got into it. His chauffeur pulled away from the parking lot and began to drive down the street. It was late and the sun had long by now setted. The crescent moon was shining upon the road brightly and the star twinkled in the night sky. Kaiba gazed out of his window and for a moment thought he saw a lone shadowy figure walking slowly down the road. When limo had caught up to the figure, Kaiba realized that it was the blonde from the bar who was walking with his eyes looking down at the ground and his hands in his pocket.
Jou looked up suddenly when he sensed something next to him. He tilted his head when the limo stopped right next to him and then the tinted window rolled down.
“Kaiba,” the blonde said surprisingly.
“Get in,” was all Kaiba said. The door flew open and Jou looked at it for a moment or two before stepping in. The door then closed and the limo drove off into the darkness of the night.
...
Yami walked into his house and closed the door after him. He hung up his jacket on the rack and then looked around. The house was completely quiet.
“Yugi?” Yami called out and, when he heard nothing in response, he walked upstairs.
“Yugi?” he said again opening the door to the guest room where Yugi was staying. He flipped on the light switch only to see no one. There was only one more place he could think of.
Yami walked up some more stairs and walked into his secret room but the only thing that was in there was his beloved piano. Yami sighed and walked up to the piano and lightly stroked the keys with his fingers.
“Yami?” said a cute voice.
Yami turned around quickly and smiled. “Yugi, where were you?”
“The kitchen,” Yugi said simply.
Yami laughed. “Didn’t think to look there for some reason.”
Yugi smiled. “So, did you have fun with your friends?”
Yami nodded and said: “Yeah, but I have to say, I missed your voice.”
Yugi blushed slightly and giggled.
“And that too,” Yami said referring to Yugi’s lovable giggle.
Yugi smile widened and then he glanced at the piano. Yami noticed this and then sat down on the long, black piano chair.
“I’ll play for you,” Yami said sweetly.
Yugi felt touched and then took a seat next to Yami. “I’d like that,” Yugi said with a smile.
