Yuri: Okay so this chapter contains a song called `After Tonight' by Justin Nozuka. It's really very pretty so if you want to hear what it sounds like just look it up if not then here you go.
By the way I do not on Yu-Gi-Oh or the song `After Tonight.'
...My Thoughts Of You...
Darkness…
Unmoving and comforting. The time of darkness that everyone's yearns for after a tiring day. Thoughts of the previous night flooded the sleeping youth's dreams. There was Yugi, standing out on the balcony leaning against the railing. It was 11:11pm and the stars were shimmering off of Yugi's gorgeous amethyst eyes. Yami watched the boy intently from the other side of the balcony as he leaned back on a patio chair. Yami held a pad of white paper in his lap and a black pen in his hand. The paper was blank and he sighed out in frustration. His practice recital was tomorrow and he couldn't think of a song to write. He glanced back to the small boy who was looking dreamily at the night sky. Yami smiled. Yugi was so adorable. His gentle features shone beautifully in the white light of the crescent moon. Yugi's eyes widened in delight when a star shot past the sky.
"Yami, look a shooting star! Make a wish!" Yugi said excitedly. Yami laughed lightly. 'I already have my wish,' Yami said and then paused suddenly. Wait, what did he just say?
"Yugi, let's go inside. I'm getting tired," Yami said standing to his feet. Yugi pouted sticking out his bottom lip.
"I don't want to go to bed! Please Yami!" Yugi said desperately.
"But Yugi-"
Yami stopped when he saw Yugi's amethyst orbs double in size. Tears began to brim his eyes. Yami felt his heart break into several pieces. It didn't take long for Yami to give in. "Okay! Okay! Just stop with the eyes!" Yami begged shielding his eyes with his hands. Yugi's face immediately went back to normal and it no longer looked like his eyes had taken over his entire face.
"Yay!" Yugi said and then looked back up at the stars. Yami sighed. How could he ever say no to those eyes? Yami sat back down on the chair and with a small smile watched the boy in front of him. Suddenly, as he was watching Yugi, words poured into his head, which he quickly wrote down on the pad of paper that was still on the chair. He scribbled down lyrics for about fifteen minutes. His eyes rested back on the small boy who stared so happily at the white specks in the sky. Yugi had caused Yami to feel so many different emotions. The taller was so confused about what he was feeling...Yugi was just so beautiful. All of the sudden, those thoughts were pulled away from Yami's mind as he began to wake.
“Yami?” said a familiar voice. An angelic voice only meant for people of pure innocence. A voice filled with concern, curiosity, and…love? A voice that sweet could only belong to one person. To one angel.
“Yugi?” Yami called out sleepily. An adorable giggle echoed throughout the room. Yami smiled in his sleep as he felt a thud in his chest. Someone playing with his heartstrings again. Yami would do anything to hear Yugi laugh. To hear his voice…filled with happiness.
“Get up lazy!”
That was the only warning the sleeping teen got and then…smack!
Yami groaned as he drowsily picked the pillow up from his face and placed the covers over his head. “Five more minutes!” Yami argued as he began to drift back off into a peaceful slumber.
Smack!
Yami turned to face his assailant who held a white, cotton-filled pillow in his hand with half-closed crimson eyes. “Yami,” Yugi said pleadingly. “You have to get ready for your practice recital! Don't make me do the puppy dog eyes again!”
Yami growled playfully in reply and Yugi raised his pillow and prepared himself for another attack only to have Yami hold up his hands in defeat.
“Okay! You win! I'm getting up,” Yami said as he ripped the covers of his body and swung his legs over to the side of the bed. Yugi smiled happily.
“I like it when I win,” Yugi said with a bright smile. Yami chuckled as he opened one of his draws and pulled out a black shirt.
“You are just too cute,” Yami said without thinking. Yugi blushed a lovely pink. Yami couldn't help but smile. “You're even cuter when you blush.”
“Stop it Yami!” Yugi said his blush turning into a rose red. Yami smiled. At first he silently cursed himself for saying what he did but he couldn't help it. Yugi was just so adorable and, not only that, but it didn't take much to make him blush which caused Yami some degree of amusement.
“Okay, okay I'll stop,” Yami said as he began to pull his shirt off only to realize that Yugi was still in the room. “Would you like to watch?” Yami said causing the boy to scurry out of the room with a color of dark scarlet in his cheeks. Yami could only laugh. He knew that would work.
Minutes later, Yami came running down the stairs and into the kitchen where he found a plate of warm pancakes on the table. “Yugi?” Yami called out only to see large purple orbs peek out from the refrigerator.
“Yes?” Yugi said tilting his head a little. `How cute,' Yami said to himself and then mentally kicked himself. Okay, he needed to stop. Yes, Yugi was cute but he didn't have to think about him all the time. So what if he was adorable and angelic and beautiful and…wait what was he just saying?
“Hello?” Yugi said waving a hand in front of Yami's eyes. Yami shook his head and looked down at the small boy. “Sorry,” Yami said with a small smile.
“What were you thinking about?” Yugi asked, curiosity gleaming in his beautiful eyes.
`You,' Yami said silently but then aloud said: “Nothing. I'm still a little tired,” Yami said.
Yami could have sworn that he saw a glint of disappointment flash through Yugi's amethyst eyes but shook it off as nothing. “Those are for you,” Yugi said pointing over to the plate of food. Yami looked surprised.
“You cooked me food?” Yami said with slight disbelief.
“Of course, silly! You need to eat breakfast!” Yugi said as though Yami should have known that he was going to make him food.
Yami looked from the food back to Yugi. With a grateful smile, Yami said: “Thank you Yugi. It means a lot to me that you did that.”
Yugi smiled brightly. “Anything for you, Yami. You've been so kind to me. It was the least I could do.” Yami nodded and, for a moment, was captivated by Yugi's innocence. The older of the two reached out to push Yugi's gold bangs to the side but was stopped when smaller teen shrunk away from his touch.
Yami frowned. “I'm sorry Yugi. I wasn't thinking,” Yami said as he turned around and walked towards the table. Yugi gasped and reached out for Yami's hand only to watch as his hand went right through the others. Of course, Yami didn't even know what the other had tried to do since he was already facing the opposite way. The taller of the two also didn't feel the slightest thing when Yugi's hand touched his for that mere second before going through it.
“No Yami. I'm sorry,” Yugi said sadly. This statement caused Yami to turn back and look at him with confused eyes. “It's not that I don't want to feel you're touch,” Yugi continued quickly. “It's just that…I can't…”
Yami raised an eyebrow. “You can't what?” the taller teen asked urging the other to continue. Yugi looked at the other with sad eyes and said hesitantly: “I can't…feel your—“
“Yami!” someone called out hysterically and the crimson-eyed boy winced when he heard his front door crash against the wall. Yami sighed. And the winner of picking the worst possible time to interrupt a conversation goes to…
“Yami!” Marik said bursting through the kitchen door.
“Marik! Congratulations!” Yami said sarcastically and was shocked when the Egyptian ran up to him and shook him violently. “Yami, I have to talk to you!” Marik said slight insanity in his eyes.
Yami glared. “If you can't tell, I'm a little busy with—“
“Now!” Marik yelled dragging Yami out of the kitchen.
“I'll be back,” Yami said apologetically to Yugi before Marik completely took him from the room. Yugi sighed sadly as he watched Yami get taken from him. And he was so close too! Yugi groaned miserably as he took a seat at the table and laid his chin on his two fists. Was he ever going to get the chance to tell Yami what he really was? The last thing the boy wanted was for Yami to find out another way like if the taller teen tried to touch him and then notice that he couldn't feel anyone there.
Yugi exhaled again. This didn't look too good. Despite Jou's warning, Yugi was beginning to fall for the other teen. It had only been a day or so since they met but already Yugi began to feel his heart beat faster every time Yami would look at him with those memorizing crimson eyes or feel a sense of overwhelming happiness when Yami would call him cute. Even though he couldn't feel the warmth of Yami's body, he could feel the warmth of Yami's heart. How he wanted that heart to belong to him…
Yes, Yugi had been in love before and yes, he had gotten terribly hurt but this was different. He knew it in his heart that Yami was the one for him. The one that he wanted to be with. To love, to hold, to care for. Yami was the one he needed to finally feel complete, to finally feel whole…to finally feel at all. Yugi had forgotten what it was like to physically feel something but, when he was around Yami, he felt like he could feel anything that he wished. Or at least he pretended to. However, the most agonizing thing was that he didn't know if Yami felt the same way. And what about when Yami found out? How would Yami feel after the crimson-eyed teen found out that he had been lying to him? Not telling him something as big and important as being a ghost.
Another sigh. This was too much to think about. Whoever knew that being in love would be so complicated?
...
“What is it Marik?” Yami said annoyed at being taken away from the only person who made him feel so special and wanted. Yami then took a second to note Marik's appearance. The blonde was pale and jittery. He kept glancing around the room every fifteen seconds.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” Yami said slightly concerned but not really showing it.
Marik's eyes snapped towards Yami and that's when the other noticed how dilated his pupils were. “Yami, I got to tell you something but you'll probably think I'm crazy when you here it,” Marik said in complete seriousness.
Yami waved him off. “Marik, I already think you're crazy so, no matter what you say, I will—“
“There's a ghost that won't leave me alone!” Marik blurted out. It took a few moments for Yami to digest what Marik confessed to him. After a minute or two, Yami said slowly: “There's a ghost…that won't leave you alone? Did you forget to take your medication again?"
"No!" Marik said angrily.
"Take too much of it?" Yami said with a smirk.
"Shut the hell up! I don't take medication! Now I'm serious!" Marik said. Yami took a deep breath and then began to lightly push Marik towards the door.
"Marik, I don't have time for this. I'll see you in school in a few okay? Yugi made me some food and I have to-"
"Who the fuck is this Yugi kid you keep talking about?" Marik asked.
Yami smiled. "You'll meet him later," Yami said with one final push. "And invite Malik to the dinner after the practice recital. I'd love to meet him!" Yami added sarcastically as he closed the door. The crimson-eyed boy then made his way back to the kitchen to find his little angel sitting patiently at the table even though it seemed like there had been something on his mind.
…
Things weren't going so well at the Kaiba mansion.
“Mokuba! I can't cook! You don't understand!” Jou yelled as the raven-haired Kaiba forced him over to the stove.
“It's okay! I already made Seto's favorite breakfast! You just have to stay here and make sure it doesn't burn while I go get him,” Mokuba said and then turned to Jou questionably.
“By the way, how come you can hold stuff and it doesn't go right through you?” Mokuba asked noticing the plate Jou held in his hand.
Jou smiled. “The only thing that goes through us is contact with others humans. Like if someone was going to try to hold my hand or kiss me or touch me.”
Mokuba shaped his mouth like an `O' and then scurried off shouting an “I'll be right back.”
Mokuba smiled as he ran up the stairs. This plan to get Jou and Seto together was perfect. Once in front of his older brother's bedroom door, he knocked lightly and then walked in.
“Seto!” Mokuba said walking up to his brother who was already wide awake typing away on his laptop.
“Yes Mokuba?” Kaiba replied.
Mokuba walked over and pulled at the other's hand. “You have to come down quick!” the smaller said. Ice blue eyes instantly fell upon him.
“Is something wrong?” Kaiba asked.
Mokuba quickly shook his head. “No, but Jou has a surprise for you!”
Kaiba looked momentarily shocked before he stood to his feet and followed his brother out of the room. The second he got to the top of the stairs, Kaiba smelled a burning odor as did Mokuba apparently because they both went running down the stairs. The moment the brunet opened the door, a light black smoke slid out.
“Damnit!” Kaiba said and watched as Jou poured cups of water on a blazing fire coming from the stove.
Kaiba didn't even have time to insult the blonde as he ran to the other side of the kitchen and pulled out a fire extinguisher. It only took a few moments for Kaiba to put out the fire but, in the end, the three boys were all covered in white foam.
Sharp eyes turned on Jou immediately. “What the hell were you thinking?” Kaiba yelled.
Jou winced. “Look, I'm sorry—“
Kaiba hushed Jou's explanation with a harsh glare. “I might be letting you stay here because of your current status but understand that I have a low tolerance level for idiots since I am surrounded by them on a daily basis. Consider this your first warning,” Kaiba said before marching out of the room in a pissed off manner, leaving a trail of white foam behind him. Jou withheld the urge to giggle.
Jou turned to look at Mokuba when the kitchen door slapped shut.. “Was this your idea of getting us together?”
Mokuba smiled sheepishly. “Don't worry! I can fix this!” Jou could only groan. This was going to be a long day.
…
Midday, Yami and Yugi had walked to school as Yugi agreed happily to watch Yami practice and now they were both in the auditorium. Yami was on the stage as the teacher instructed him exactly what to do. Yugi watched eagerly from the back. There were only a few people there since it was only practice. Besides from the people in the actual recital, there were about three other people scattered in the big auditorium. Yugi looked up when he heard a familiar voice.
“Hi Ryou,” Yugi said as his white-haired friend took a seat next to him. “What are you doing here?”
Ryou shrugged. “Just wandering around. What about you?”
Yugi pointed to the boy on the stage. “I'm here to watch Yami practice. After, he's going out to eat with his friends.”
Ryou nodded and then asked slowly: “So have you told him yet?”
Yugi shook his head sadly. “No, when I try to something always gets in the way. But I'll tell him tonight.”
Ryou nodded once again and then looked at the stage when he saw the teen that looked like Yugi take a seat in front of a large black piano and adjust the microphone.
“He's going to start soon!” Yugi said excitedly. Exactly when Yugi said this, Yami pressed his fingers against the white keys.
“This is for you,” Yami said softly from the stage and then began to move his fingers. His voice was memorizing.
“There's something in your eyes…
Is everything alright…
You look up to the sky, you long for something more…Darling
Is everything alright…
You look up to the sky, you long for something more…Darling
Give me your right hand…
I think I understand…
Follow me and you will never have to wish again…
Yami fingers began to dance faster across the keys as the tempo increased.
I know that after tonight, You don't have to look up at the stars, No, No, No, No
I know by the end of tonight, You don't have to look up at the stars
I know that if the love is alright, You won't have to look up at the stars, No, No, No, No
I know by the end of tonight, You don't have to look up at the stars
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
Tell me how you feel…
And if I'm getting near…
I'll tell you where to stay, you'll tell me where to steer...Da-Da-Da-Darling
Way above the clouds…
And high above the stars...
Through the unknown black holes, No one knows where we are
But we'll return to Earth and do it all over again!
Cuz I know that after tonight, You don't have to look up at the stars, No, No, No, No
I know by the end of tonight, You don't have to look up at the stars
I know that if the love is alright, You won't have to look up at the stars, No, No, No, No
I know by the end of tonight, You don't have to look up at the stars
Come away with me…
Come fly away with me…
Just for a night, No one will ever know…
No, No, No…Darling
I will leave you satisfied…
Forever past time…
You don't have to hide, your free to fly
I know that after tonight, You don't have to look up at the stars, No, No, No, No
I know by the end of tonight, You don't have to look up at the stars
I know that if the love is alright, You don't have to look up at the stars, No, No, No, No
I know by the end of tonight, We'll be looking down upon them from heaven...”
Yami smiled as he slowly began to slow his fingers until the room was completely void of music once again. Everyone instantly stood to their feet and clapped loudly. Yugi on the other hand, felt like his heart was going to explode. For some reason, Yugi had felt like that song was for him and, truthfully, it made him want to break into tears of happiness.
