~ Chapter Four: A Pharaoh and a Priest's Promise ~
:.Yami's POV.:
If anyone were to walk past me, and look down into the water, they'd probably be amazed to find that it was actually raining. Raining my sorrow and misery. I sigh, glaring at the reflection of myself in the river from the bridge where I am standing. Ruby eyes glare back and my mouth turns into a frown.
It's not my fault I did that to him, not my fault that I made him experience the meaning of death, not my fault that I defeated him and stripped away his name. I never wanted any of it. To tell the truth, all I wanted was to have him back in my arms again, just as it was five thousand years ago. But it's too late. He hates me now, and I am totally helpless against his thoughts. "Seth… Seto…" I whisper the two names out loud, my mind probing into a long ago memory that I had managed to uncover…
~ Flashback~
:.Third Person POV.:
The room was small. Small enough that two or three of itself could fit into the Pharaoh's private quarters. But it was ideal for the event occurring right now. The room was secluded, abandoned by all the servants, who had given up on tending to it. After all, who in their right minds would come into a room hidden under the dungeons?
The Pharaoh of Egypt and the High Priest of Egypt might.
The candles flickered, casting shadows on the two figures inhabiting the room. The shorter one with outrageous spiky hair laid his head on the taller one's chest, sighing in contentment.
"My Pharaoh?" the brunette asked, absentmindedly tracing patterns on the other's chest.
"Yes, Seth?" Yami lifted his head, gazing curiously up at his lover. "What is it?"
The High Priest smiled a rare smile, bending down to place a kiss on the Pharaoh's lips. "Just wondering," he thought aloud, as Yami snuggled closer to him. "If I hadn't been born a priest, then we could be lovers out in the open." The brunette sighed. "But because of my religion…"
Yami frowned slightly, hugging Seth. "Since when have you wanted to let others know what goes on in your life?" He pulled Seth down, kissing him forcefully.
Seth smiled after the two had broke apart for air, panting. "Since I met you, my Pharaoh." The priest pushed the Pharaoh onto the bed, a look of hunger in his eyes. His hand trailed over the soft skin of Yami's chest, and down to the bulge in his lower part of the body. "Please, allow me to show you how much I care…"
Yami nuzzled his neck. "Of course, my Priest."
"I love you, Yami. Always. I'll always be there for you."

:.Yami's POV.:
I snorted. Yeah, right. We were so foolish to believe that we would always be together. Although, even when I was trapped within the Millennium Puzzle, my thoughts lingered on Seth, and the thought of seeing him again helped me keep my sanity.
Imagine my surprise when I awake, thousands of years later, and came face-to-face with the recarnation of Seth. I was so happy, until I discovered Seto's motives. Kidnapping, revenge, sacrificing and destroying everyone in his way, this definitely wasn't the man I feel in love with. Slowly, I began to sink into despair and the feeling of being alone. But when I saw him with his younger brother, in those fleeting moments, I saw a shadow of Seth's compassion within him. Since then, I tried harder, and soon I began to see more bits of Seth emerge, slowly, bit by bit. And when we dueled together against Lumis and Umbra, at the end, I had all my proof. Seto was Seth. And I loved both of them.
"Hey, Pharaoh!"
:.Bakura's POV.:
I glared at another passerby, who was gawking at my hair. I snorted contemptuously, scaring away a group of giggling girls around fifteen. It was not going well with Seto, so I had decided to leave him to his thoughts, and instead look for Yami. (Of course, Seto had kicked me out of his house first…)
Growling, I pulled out my Millennium Ring, deciding to find Yami as fast as I could. At once, one of the spikes pointed towards the pier, and I set off, my mind wandering as I ran towards the Pharaoh.
Seto had been pretty pissed off when I told him that the Pharaoh and Jou were coming over to his mansion so we could explain what the book really could do… I shivered in the warm summer breeze. I couldn't understand how it could have survived everything Yami put it through; burning, burying, vandalism; none of it worked. I approached the dock, instantly spotting a lone figure with abnormal spiky hair.
"Hey, Pharaoh!"
:.Third Person POV.:
Yami acknowledged Bakura with a nod from his head, not bothering to look at the tomb robber.
Bakura rolled his eyes, throwing an arm around the Pharaoh's stiff shoulders. "it didn't go well with Seto, I'm afraid," he muttered, looking at Yami carefully. "Are you sure he'll remember you, Yami?"
The Pharaoh gave a half-hearted shrug. Growling, Bakura lifted him up by the leather neckband around Yami's neck. "Well?" he asked, shaking Yami, hard.
Yami turned to look at Bakura, his gaze blurry from holding back all the tears. "I'm such an ass," he whispered to Bakura, eyes firmly shut. "He'll never love me, I was such a fool to think he would…"
Bakura snorted, placing Yami firmly in front of him. "Now then," he ordered, prodding Yami in the chest, "I went along with your plan to pretend we were lovers, all to get that CEO jealous, and you're just going to give up?!" Bakura snorted again, a laugh visible in it. "You spent 5000 years inside that damn Puzzle, just to see him, and now you're just going to throw that chance away?!" Bakura began pulling Yami towards Seto's mansion.
"Where are we going?" Yami asked, both ashamed and angry at the same time.
"To Seto's place, baka," Bakura answered, tugging Yami. "Both he and Jou opened the book, and I'm guessing unleashed its power. And along with the power…"
"Comes the curse…" Yami finished. He wrenched his arm from Bakura's grip.
"Now where are you going?"
Yami paused, turning to look at Bakura. "I'm going to tell him before he leaves… You do know that once the curse takes place, they're stuck in that place until they can meet the requirements and break it, don't you?"
Bakura nodded. "Let's not forget which two people were affected by the curse too."
Yami returned the nod, patting Bakura's back. "I had fun too, Bakura. Now, I think you should go tell him too."
A faint blush spread across Bakura's cheeks. "Tell who what?"
Yami winked. "You know. Thanks Bakura, for helping me. And for the amusement you provided me in Egypt." He turned, and ran for Seto's mansion.
Bakura stood there, glaring at Yami's back. "I AMUSED YOU?!"
*****
Yami knocked on the door, praying that Seto was in. He had met Mokuba half-way to the Kaiba Mansion, and the younger Kaiba had told Yami that Seto had left for his office. Then his secretary had held him back, asking him if he had an appointment with the CEO.
Finally, he had been granted allowance to see the CEO.
"Come in," came the voice from behind the door.
Yami took a deep breath, trying to control his shaking, but to no avail. He grasped the doorknob, and turned it, stepping inside Seto's office.
Seto was lounging in his chair when Yami entered. The golden rays from the sunset seemed to illuminate the Pharaoh , stirring a memory deep within him…
Seto arched a slim eyebrow when he saw Yami's shaking hands. "Why are you here, Yami?"
Yami chewed on his lower lip, staring at the view behind Seto. "I… well… I just came to check up on you… and…"
Seto silenced the Pharaoh. "If you keep trailing off like that, Yami, I'll have to shut you up in a most… unusual way…" A smirk spread over his face. Like finally kicking your ass in Duel Monsters…
Yami gritted his teeth, meeting Seto's azure eyes. That was his mistake. When his ruby eyes came into contact with Seto's blue ones, all of his words went out the window. He tried speaking, but he couldn't, not when his eyes were locked with beautiful blue ones… Just like Seth's…
Seto watched Yami intently. "Something wrong?"
Yami felt his face flush at Seto's words.
Seto leaned closer to Yami, his lips face inches apart from the Pharaoh's.
Clearly, Yami wanted more, as his arms reached up, pulling the shocked CEO closer. Seto wrenched from Yami's grip, gaping at him.
"What?"
Seto was surprised at the way Yami had kissed him. But it was his own mind's thoughts that scared him. Why did this feel so… right?
"Yami?" Seto asked, looking at the Pharaoh. "Explain yourself."
Yami watched Seto. "I knew you wouldn't remember…"
"Remember?..."
Yami pressed his forehead against Seto's, sending the flashback into the brunette's mind.
Seto ran a hand through his hair. "Gods, that's so… weird…" He looked at Yami uncomfortably. "I'm sorry, Yami. But… I love Jou."
"I know," Yami whispered, his heart somewhat lighter. "I just wanted to clarify everything…"
"Yami…?"
"What?"
Seto grinned. "Maybe I can give you something better…" He whispered something into Yami's ear. "Well?"
"That'd be great. Priest." Yami smirked.
"First Ishizu, then you, and know you again, Yami?! How are you sure that I'm that Priest! You Millennium Item holder sure are addled in the brains…" Seto paused, a smile twitching at the corner of his mouth as he watched Yami puff up indignantly like a blowfish. Seto draped one arm around Yami's shoulders.
"You should see the look on your face."
******
Jou buried his face in his pillow, ignoring the constant knocking that came from his door. Or rather, Yugi's. Yugi had allowed Jou to stay at his place for awhile, after seeing the lost look on his friend's face.
"Are you okay, Jou?" Yugi's voice drifted into the room. "Do you - "
Ryou silenced the short teen. "I think he needs to be alone know, Yugi."
Yugi frowned, clenching his fists. "I still can't believe Honda! He just dumped Jou without any feeling of regret… He even said that Jou was just his sex buddy!"
Ryou hugged Yugi. "It'll be all right, Yugi. Right now, I think Jou's going through a very trying phase in his life."
"Rejection?" Yugi asked, cuddling up to the albino.
"No," Ryou answered, "not that. Bakura explained it to me once. Something about questioning yourself about how you really feel, whom you can trust, and at that point, some even go crazy and…" Ryou trailed off. "Jou will need us later, Yugi. Best to back off until he asks."
Yugi sighed. "Fine."
******
Outside Yugi's bedroom window, Bakura stood(1), watching the sleeping figure of Jou intently.
"My courage goes with you, Jou," he whispered, "as well as something else…"

(1) I don't know how he stands, seeing how Yugi's room is on the second story. Maybe he's hovering? Or on that huge dumpster?
