Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Fury ❯ Hidden ( Chapter 2 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
scratch- Whew! Holidays have been very busy for me...but I managed to start a couple more fics. This one, actually, was the most requested one. Thanks here going out to those who R&R'd the last chapter, specially to "DJ" for the idea and encouragement, and to Nite Angel, for being so gosh-darn cool! :)
So...this is, I guess Chapter 2 of Fury. Really, this is just the chapter to ensure that there will be more to come. I know how the next chapter will go...but I have NO CLUE how the story will end... Anything could happen...Thoughts and suggestions can be emailed to me at AstroTwit@hotmail.com.
BTW: I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh. If I did, I wouldn't be writing fanfics, would I? Didn't think so. I don't own Tim Hortans either, but I live there, so it's all good.

It had been five years. Five years. He could hardly even believe it, when he stopped to remember. Yugi had spent the last five years of his life in Toronto, Canada working in Tim Hortan's serving coffee and donuts to total strangers. He had finally graduated high school, with honours at that...the educations system was quite different here. Yugi had friends who cared about him, a surrogate family he had lived with and a girlfriend who loved him and respected him. Yugi was happy. Compleatly and utterly happy. So why did he feel like there was something missing?
It was his last day at Tim Hortan's. Yugi had decided to leave and find something a little more challenging. "Congrats, pally! wish it were me!" Jack Nealson smiled. Jack had been the first employee to approach Yugi when he had started. He was the one who dubbed him 'Mo' to save others from the rather confusing explanation of his name. Jack had six months left before he left for his apprenticeship in San Diego. "Soon enough, my friend, and you'll be free, too!" Yugi joked. Lauri, Tiff and Chris had all wished Yugi well before they left. Yugi was closing with Marnie tonight. "Wow, Mo, I'm gonna miss you." Marnie had been Yugi's replacement. He had trained her for a month. As they shut off the lights one last time together and locked the door, Yugi smiled. "Ah, Marnie...you'll be ok. Jack and Chris'll help you, but I'll miss you, too. Have a Merry Christmas, kid."
Yugi opened the door to 14741 Macnemara Ave at midnight exactly. Darcy had waited up for him, but she had fallen asleep on the couch. Yugi stood for a moment and looked at the beauty dozing before him. She had the music channel playing softly in the background. A recent video from Coldplay was running, providing a soft grey flicker of light to the room. Even that couldn't dull the vibrent copper of her hair. her glasses were bent at an akward angle, but they still held a stark contrast against her pale skin. She was an Angel. Even asleep, she glowed. Yugi felt like the luckiest man in the world just being in the room with her, but he couldn't shake the empty feeling inside. No matter how hard he tried.
He hadn't even noticed that she'd woken up. He had gone to their bedroom, hoping not to disturb her. "Hey, babe. How was the last day?"
"Hey. It was...slow, actually. Drive-thru had a few moments, but nothing huge. I'm sure Delia will be overjoyed when those renovations are finished."
"Not that you have to worry about it", Darcy walked over to Yugi, standing behind him and wrapping her arms around his waist, "You're a free agent!" she smiled sleepily. Even though Yugi had enjoyed his time at the store, she knew that he would not miss the long hours and the rude customers.
Yugi turned in her arms and kissed her lightly. "I know. From now on, babe, it's you and me, working real jobs."
"Oh, that reminds me..." Darcy broke away and ran out into the living room. Yugi shook his head and put on some pajamas. He simply could not understand how she could burst with energy like that in the dead of night. He loved it. He loved her.
Darcy came back into the room with a small stack of square note pages and an envilope stuffed in her coat pocket. "Smith and Barnam called, you have an interview for next Tuesday at four, Raeltos were impressed by your interview and recomendations and would like to meet with you on friday," as she read from each square, she would toss it into the air, and it would spin to the floor like giant confetti. "Mrs. Metsil called, something about having the information you wanted, and a message from Mom, she wants us to come for dinner Christmas Eve, and this came for you today." Darcy took the letter out of her pocket. Yugi recognized the scratchy script immediatly, even if it had been years. He shook his head. Why would there be a letter now? what could it be?
"Yugi," Darcy was the only one who still called him that, "is something wrong?"
"No, babe...just...it's nothing. I'm just tired. I'll open it tomorrow. Great stuff otherwise! I need to start paying you for being such a great receptionist!"
"Hardly. Are you sure you're ok? You look a little pale."
Darcy knew immediatly with Yugi. It was like she could read him. She knew that the letter was from Japan. She was sure it had something to do with the past he kept so guarded. They had been together for 2 years and Darcy only knew that Yugi had lived with his Grandfather there before moving to Toronto, and that he had most people call him Mo instead of Yugi because that name connected to something in his past...Women's intuition told her that something terrible had happened for him to leave, and to never talk about it. But she respected Yugi and trusted him totally; he would tell her when he was ready, and by the tone of his voice, she knew that time was getting nearer.
"No, love. Let's go to bed. I love you, you know that, right?"
"Of course! I love you, too."
"And you know I'd never hurt you?"
"I know, Yugi. You're right. Let's go to bed and talk tomorrow."
Both lay awake for the next half hour, concidering the truth. For Darcy, it was Yugi's past and their future. For Yugi, it was the letter. He knew he would have to tell Darcy soon about the...accident. But how? And why after five years of no contact, on Yugi's orders, would there be a letter for him... from Joey?

End chapter one...It's just easier to write this in Chapters. R&R! I love feedback. Part 3 will be up very soon, and it will be a bit longer, I promise. :)
