Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Fury ❯ Motivation ( Chapter 6 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Scratch: gettin closer to the end... dun-dun-da! :) There's a reason I posted this so soon (unlike my usual few days of nothingness), and not just because of the large amount of guilt I feel for keeping everyone in suspense...I've hit a busy-spot with school stuff. And, as you all know, academics come first! BUT...if I'm a good little frosh and get all my assignments done in advance like I want to, then there will be more Fury soon! If not, you'll have to wait till post Valentines. Sorry! Your patience is very much apreciated.

IMPORTANT NOTE: there are a few spoilers in here for those of you who haven't seen through the Duelist Kingdom Arc of the TV series yet. They're not that signifigant, but they're there.

Motivation

Pegasus put the phone down. He smiled, gloating at his own accomplishment. This time, he would have them all, Kaiba, the brat Mokuba, Yugi and Yami, not to mention their disgusting little pep squad, and, better yet, he could make them suffer before he killed them...

"How long do you think we've been like this?" Danny said. He had to stay concious. The three prisoners had been tied to poles in a decrepit old warehouse on the docks. The floor was flooded, and Pegasus' thugs had removed their shoes.
"I don't know. This is pure insanity! I'm sure we must look like a scene from 'A Clockwork Orange'." Bakura was as white as his silver hair. He looked cold, but not as cold as Darcy. Her face was white as snow, her lips nearly blue, standing out in a very stark contrast to her brilliant red locks. She had been the first, Danny only hours later. The two had been strung up like puppets for what felt like days before Bakura came. Darcy shivered, but remained concious.
"What does he want with Yugi and the others? Why is he after them?"
"It's a long held grudge, I'm afraid," Bakura began. "You see, seven years ago, Pegasus held a tournament; a game for players of a card game called 'Duel Monsters'."
"Yes. Duelist Kingdom. Yugi told me a few things about it." Darcy said, remembering the articles and the letter Yugi left behind only days ago. Was it really only days?
"That's right. Pegasus used his Millennium Eye to steal the souls of Yugi's grandfather, Seto Kaiba, the owner of a company Pegasus wanted, and Mokuba, Kaiba's younger brother. He held them all captive in Dueling cards."
"Unreal!" Danny said. He was trying to take it all in. 'Tea had mentioned something like that to me once, but I never knew it was this...involved...'
"Hm." Bakura continued. "Yugi, with the help of Yami, who was the occupant of the Millenium Puzzle Yugi wore, defeated Pegasus, and set all of the souls free. However, after the match, someone stole Pegasus' Millenium eye."
"You're telling me that someone gouged out this guy's eye? That's crazy! This is all insane!" Danny was incredulous. He was yelling now, shaking his head. Nothing this fantastical could be real, could it?
"That's right, Ryou." Pegasus said from behind them. He stepped out in front of them, his white hair still covering the place where the eye had been.
"The only little detail you left out was who stole my eye. But, of course, you wouldn't know that, would you? Hm? If you don't mind, my little Ryou, I'll finish the story from here. You see, after the Duelist Kingdom, I was comitted to a hospital in Madrid. Charming place, too bad you'll never see it." He paced back and forth infront of his audience as he retold the past.
"You see, without the powers of my Millenium eye, I was helpless, weak, much like you three are now. I felt tied to this world, without any control. But I still felt the presence of the mystic eye. Somehow it left a form of residual magic behind, a telekinetic strength."
"Telekinetic?" Darcy asked
"Think of the movie 'Carrie'" Danny whispered.
Pegasus grabbed him by the chin, forcing him to look into the mad man's eyes. "Hold your tounge, Danny-boy, or you might yet lose it." Pegasus snapped the man's face to the side, then continued pacing. "I found that I had the ability to enter into people's minds and make slight... alterations, shall we say? Nurses at the hospital suddenly began to experiance headaches as they passed my room, poor dears. Violent patients would become kittens at my command. And one unfortunate doctor took his own life after seeing me. It's a talent, I suppose. My greatest achievement came when I found that I could extend my mental abilities to people outside of the facility. I could assault anyone I chose. So, I chose the obvious."
"Yugi!" Darcy gasped. She was met by a sharp slap across the face. "Don't interupt me again, Ms. Labrosse. I don't delight in harming such beautiful woman as yourself, but I will do it, I promise you."
There was silence for a few moments. Pegasus went to a table that was set near by for a glass of wine. Danny thought of Tea, and how he hoped that she'd left the country by now. Darcy tried to calm herself when she realized that she had not felt the hand on her face...she was too numb. Bakura was processessing what had been said.
"Where was I? Oh, yes! You were right, Ms. Labrosse. I chose to target Yugi. You see, Kaiba is not a challenge for me. I had him once, I could easily capture him again. But Yugi? No. Something drastic had to be done. I probed his childish little mind for a while, until I noticed a tiny sprig of jealousy in the farthest corners of Yugi's mind. It was faint, but it was there. I thought that if I could turn that inkling of emotion into something a bit more dramatic, I could control the boy. So I built on it. I used my newfound abilities to fester that mole hill until it became a mountain, and aimed it all at the Phaero! It was ingenious, I tell you! If I could turn the little brat on Yami, it would distroy both of them, because without the darkness, there could be no light! Yugi would be nothing, and it would appear to be his own undoing. Unfortunatly, I underestimated that wretched ghost and his gods-forsaken hormones. When you're little slut got between the two," Pegasus looked Danny in the eyes, "I lost control. Rage of that calibre was too much for even me. I must say I was impressed. That is, of course, to say I lost course of the direction of the boy's emotion. Instead of Yami, as I had hoped, little Yugi beat the tar out of Tea. I thought that if I couldn't have both, I could at least do away with Yugi and have the conselation of offing that annoying little chearleader. If Yami hadn't shown up, Tea Gardener would be six feet under by now, but without even knowing it, that blasted Phaero spoiled my plans again. He broke my concentration. Yugi left town, but that's simply not enough for me."
Pegasus stopped, looked at his watch, then at the three. "That leads me back to why you three are here now. Yami, as you know, has been quite ill the past few months. And, no, this time it was not my doing. You see, when Yugi was here, Yami's darkness of spirit shielded the boy from the harshness of reality, leaving his soul pure. Totally innocent. When he left, Yami's soul held no purpose: the delicate balance was upset. Yami being deceased and 5000 years old, he felt the effects first, but Yugi had time to build up a coating of corruption. Lucky for me, this brought everyone back to the starting point, you along with them. That explaines Darcy and Danny here, but you, Ryou...Oh, you are the special one."
Pegasus pulled a daggar from his coat. "Now, I never did say who stole me precious eye, did I? Hm, how forgetful of me."
Pegasus used the daggar to cut Bakura's shirt open, revealing the Millenium ring. "Poor Ryou. You know nothing of the spirit in your item, do you? But I do. All too well. You see, he stole my Millenium eye, and I want it Back! For a price, of course..."
There was a flash. Ryou looked up, no longer the innocent brit he was, but now the Tomb Raider, smiling at the thought of a partnership with the one man who despised the Phaero as much as he did.
"Welcome, Yami Bakura. I'll call you Bakura for short, if you don't mind."
"Name your terms Pegasus."
"Not one for small talk, eh? No matter. I want my eye back, and I want that puzzle. I know that some time ago, you sealed a part of your soul into the puzzle to keep track of it. Now I want that piece."
"And what do I get in return?"
"A share of my wealth, and of course, you get to watch Phaero Yami, King of Games die like a withered old dog!"
Bakura glared at Pegasus with an evil half smile. "As much as I enjoy the thought, there is one other small thing I need."
"Now, Bakura, let's not get greedy..." Pegasus pleasent demeinor was gone, and the daggar was now deadly close to Bakura's belly, threatening to pierce his flesh.
"It's nothing you can't afford. I want a new host. Someone a little less obvious."
"Done. Take that one. Danny-Boy. But not until that puzzle is in my hands."
"Of course." with that, Yami Bakura's persona vanished, and left Ryou hanging from the pole, dazed. There was another flash, this time directed at Pegasus. He screamed, and fell to the floor in agony. A guard ran to him calling for medics, only to see that Pegasus was laughing. He stood, brushed himself off and brushed the hair away from his face. The Millenium eye was back in place.
"I feel it already! The power within me! Finally! Nothing can stop me now!"
Still laughing, Pegasus turned and walked out onto the docks. It was only a matter of time now.

Does it all make sense to you now? We all get why Pegasus is doing what he's doing? Kinda? Good. It'll make more sense in a couple of chapters when it all comes together.
BTW...I've never written "evil villian" monolouges before; it was kind of fun! :)
I'm thinking at least...3 more chapters, then I'll be done with Fury, and onto something new! Maybe something a little more...Lemony? we'll see... :)
