Scratch: Thank you all for your patience. I've hit a creative patch tonight, so I'm going to tap it for all it's worth. I've got a pretty clear idea of how this is going to end, it's getting there that might be a bit sketchy. Oh, well. Let's see who can keep up!

Night was falling, black, cold and silent. There were no start tonight, and no moon. Time march forward, slowly and dutifully toward the inevitable. It was time.
--
"Do you feel that, my friends? Enjoy it...That is the last nightfall you'll ever feel." Pegasus turned to face his captours. "You know that you're all going to die tonight, don't you? You know that there's no way I'll ever let any of you out of this." Yami Bakura smiled. He loved the feeling of impending doom: the terror, the saddness, and that moment of acceptance when all hope is lost. Darcy was already there, he could feel it. She was frozen to the bone, her face a ghastly blue-white and her lips purple. And Danny? Danny would soon cease to exist.
There was a faint noise just outside the doors of the building.
"They're early. Perfect." Pegasus laughed. "Wouldn't want to keep anyone waiting, eh, Bakura?" The two evils laughed. It was time.
--
"Yugi? Wake up!"
He was swimming in it. Blood, thick and red. It was around him, coating him. He could smell it, taste it and hear it pulsating around him. Something was pulling him down. He couldn't swim against it. His head sunk below the thick crimson liquid, now filling his lungs. He couldn't breathe.
Now he's on a flat surface. It's cold, but mildly reassuring. Another card. He stands and looks into a mirror. "Yugi?"
The voices called to him.
"Yugi."
"Yugi."
He looked into the mirror again and saw himself strangling Tea.
"NO!"
Yugi slammed his fists against the mirror. It was soft and yeilding. He turned away.
"Yugi, look at me!"
"That's not me. Leave me!"
"No Yugi...look at me!"
He turned. Now in the mirror was his darker self. "Yami."
"Yes."
"How can you look at this?"
"I'm nothing without you. Without light, there can be no darkness."
"I am Darkness."
"Yes."
"You are nothing."
"Soon."
"Failure."
"Save Me."
That was more than one voice. Yami was gone. The image of himself strangling Tea was back.
"No..."
Tea became Tristan.
"Stop"
Tristan became Joey
"I won't"
Joey became Darcy.
Yugi screamed. He turned to see the eyes of a man from years ago.
"It is Time."
--
Yugi awoke screaming. Kaiba and Joey were holding him in his seat. Yami's nose was bleeding.
"What have I done?!" Yugi cried, hiding his face in his hands.
"It's nothing, Yugi, really. I'm fine now."
Yami's colour had returned, and he no longer looked as sickley.
"Yugi, your presence here has healed me! Don't you understand?"
Yugi stared at them all blankly. Mai, Joey, Tristan, Tea and the brothers Kaiba. They were all there.
"Without darkess, there can be no light."
"He's halucinating again."
"No! Kaiba, you can't...And none of you...You'll all be killed! Don't you see? I have to do this alone."
That was when the Limo stopped.
"This is it."
"Yugi, we're not letting you go in there alone!" Tristan stopped Yugi from leaping out of the car.
"Yeah, Man! We've faced this lunatic before, and we'll do it again! All of us together!" Joey said. Mai's hand was held firmly in his. She was attempting to keep her cool demeanor, but inside, her blood was ice.
"Well, I'm certainly not letting you go in there alone, Joey. Someone's gotta keep you from embarassing yourself. Besides, why let the guys have all the fun?"
Kiaba opened the door. His eyes were sharp and clear, and he was ready for anything.
"Are we going to sit here all day like cowering mice? I for one would like to put this foolishness to an end once and for all."
"That's right, Seto! Let's go! That freak won't know what hit him!"
Mokuba was out of the car even before Yugi was. Kaiba caught Mokuba by the arm, and Joey had Yugi by the shoulders. "Not a chance. You're staying right here, Mokuba."
"What? Big Brother..."
"No way am I losing you again to that psychopath. You're going to sit in the car and wait."
"Don't worry, Mokuba," Tristan gave the thumbs up, "You and me and Tea are gonna stay out here and keep watch and..."
"I think not, Tristan! You seem to be forgetting that my Fiance is in there!"
"He's right, Tea." The deep voice from in the car startled the group. Kaiba helped the weakened Phaero to his feet. Though recovering, Yami wasn't in full health yet. "Pegasus wants revenge. You and Tristan had nothing to do with this, because you were not duelists. He has Danny only as an extra hostage to ensure we came. Mokuba is too young to fight this, so it would be wise if you stayed here."
There was a breif silence. The Yugi turned. It had to be now. Something was pulling him in. "We have to go now, guys. Come on!"
The group began to march forward, Kaiba in the lead, followed by Joey and Mai. Yugi began to follow them, but then felt a hand on his shoulder.
"Yugi, here. I think you'll need this..."
Yami held in his hands the Milennium Puzzle. Yugi stared at it, and Yami, in disbelief.
"No, Yami, I...It's your's, and I don't deserve it."
Yami took his hand and placed it on the puzzle. It shone in the light of the docks and the headlights of the car. To Yugi, it felt warm and familliar.
"You're wrong, Yugi. It belongs to you. It belongs with you and you belong with it, and with me. What happened before was...the past. Yes, it was difficult for all of us, but we've moved on. It's time for it to take it's place."
Yami slid the chain of the puzzle around his light's neck. Suddenly, everything seemed to melt away, until the two were standing alone in their soul rooms. Yugi's was clean, spotless, all for the damage repaired, except for one dark corner. Yami stood behind Yugi and gently pushed him towards the corner. "Yami, what is this?"
"This was for you, I believe. After you left, I kept this room in it' proper order, in hopes that one day you'd be here again. I knew there had to be another reason for your acts, but I don't think either of us noticed this..."
A light shone down into that corner. There was a gnarled, ugly tree, dark and tangled, sinistre. "This is not supposed to be here, Yugi. Something else planted this."
"I don't understand, Yami. If this is evil, why is it here? In my room? Where did it come from?"
"I don't know. But I do know that I can't remove it. I've tried. That's why I wanted you to see it. There's something powerful here, and I think it's the source of this chaos, and of your."
Yugi realized then he was right. He wasn't in control. Who or whatever had put that dark tree, that dark energy there had controlled him. He felt relieved, but also quite scared.
"If this is still here, and we can't get rid of it, that means it could control me again. I could do something awful. Yami..."
"I know. But we have no choice. Right now, to save our friends, we must face Pegasus. Then, together, we will find a way to get rid of this."
"Thank you, Yami. I was scared to come back, you know. I didn't think I'd have any friends left."
Yami put his hand on Yugi's shoulder. "That's not true at all. You know, we were all shocked, but we wanted to help you. Especially Tea..." Yami turned toward the tree. "I haven't told anyone this, Yugi, but after you left, Tea refused to believe you were really gone. she tried to mail letters to you, but I wouldn't let her. I thought it would do more harm than good. Joey and Tristan were angry, but she always stood up for you. Though we're still close, her bond with you even tore us apart. I couldn't understand why she wouldn't accept what was happening, and she didn't understand why I did. When she found out I wasn't sending your letters, she decided to move to the dance school in New York, just to remove herself from us, and in hopes that she might see you. You see, Yugi, we missed you. We all did."
Yugi thought back to all the times he wanted more than anything to talk to his friends, all the times he'd cried, wishing he could hear Yami's voice in his mind, or duel Joey, or even hear one of Tea's imfamous speaches. They believed in him, even when he didn't believe in himself, even when he was gone. Then he thought about Darcy. He wanted so much for her to meet his friends. He knew she'd fit right in. He knew that she loved him. Now it was time to prove to all of them how much he really did care, and how the past is the past and nothing more.
"What are you two waiting for? Come on!" Kaiba's stubborn voice pulled the two back into reality. Yami and Yugi nodded at each other.
"It's time..."

That was increadably hard to write. I'm so sorry I kept everyone waiting, and that this capter was a bit choppy, but I already have the next set in my head and ready to write!
