Chapter 19: Renewed Vows…

Hiei had literally snapped her out of her mental thoughts by suddenly snapping his fingers physically in front of her and mentally in her head. Thus startling Kagome into yelping and flying off of Kyuui and hitting Hiei at the same time.

"What the hell was that for?" Kagome asked Hiei angrily.

"Hn. You weren't getting out of your mental thoughts." Was all the Koorime said.

"Uh…Kagome why don't we all go down to the study and you tell us what happened." Inutashio suggested still not trusting or liking Hiei for what he had done to Kagome so long ago.

"Sure." Kagome said and took the arm that Inutashio offered.

They made there way down to the study at the end of the hall. It was of course not Inutashio's study but Kagome's considering this was her house. The walk was pretty much done in silence. Sesshoumaru and the rest of the Hakai knew what Inutashio was doing trying to keep Hiei away from Kagome.

Hiei knew as well and was quite angry. All he wanted to do was apologize. But he sighed so softly no one heard him. Meanwhile Kagome was wondering what was wrong with Inutashio he seemed so tense for some reason. Kagome gently took Souden's hand as Shippo perched himself comfortably on her shoulder basking in his mother's presence.

When they got to the study Kagome immediately took her seat behind the desk. There were two seats in front of her desk and a few couches placed nicely in the room for comfort. The Hakai immediately took there places on the couches as King Enma and Inutashio took the chairs across of Kagome and the spirit detectives and Koenma and a recently arriving Botan just stood.

"Where should I start?" Kagome asked Inutashio.

"From the beginning." Inutashio replied.

"Okay…well I was born on..."

"Kagome!!!!" Inutashio exclaimed.

"You said from the beginning Inutashio." Kagome said smirking

"You know what I mean Kagome. From the time that you left." Inutashio said exasperated.

"Very well…" Kagome said and started talking.

It took a little under an hour for Kagome to finish her tale. The others made some comments here and there. After Kagome finished the room was quiet. That is until King Enma spoke.

"So you defeated Hades." He stated more then asked.

Kagome gave him a confirming nod.

"Very well." Enma said.

"Is something the matter Enma?" Kagome asked.

"No…It's just I have been waiting a long time for someone to defeat him." Enma said.

Kagome said nothing just rose and left the room.

"What's wrong with her?" Inuyasha asked.

"Isn't someone gonna go after her?" Yusuke asked.

"No…Leave her be for the time being." Sesshoumaru said.

"Why?" Kuwabara asked.

"Because, you dolt, she needs to think." Kuronue answered for Sesshoumaru.

"Oh…"

So consumed in there own thought's none of them noticed Hiei slip out of the room and follow Kagome. Kagome went out to the gardens in the middle or the maze. She stood there gazing at the statue in the middle of the maze it was of a beautiful dragon statue with a small water fountain coming out of his mouth going into the water like area surrounding the statue…Then Kagome was there sitting on the bench making little figures in the water.

Kagome sighed softly to herself.

"Why is life so complicated?" Kagome asked herself.

"Because life isn't perfect." Someone said startling Kagome almost making her fall into the water.

She whipped around to face the only man demon or otherwise to have that deep semi-rough voice. She then glared at the Culprit and owner of said voice a certain spiky haired apparition.

"What are you doing here?" Kagome asked.

"Obviously having a completely pointless conversation with you." Hiei said dryly.

Kagome glared heatedly at him.

"Go away Hiei…I'm tired of this…Just…Go away." Kagome said allowing the weariness to show in her voice.

"I'm tired of playing games Hiei…." Kagome whispered to the shocked demon.

"What are you talking about?" Hiei asked.

"Just…Leave me be." Kagome said before turning her back on him and lying on the grass looking out at the stars.

Hiei not one to be dismissed came and sat down right next to her. Kagome on the other hand was desperately trying to keep her feelings that she had so long ago suppressed at bay. No matter how hard that she tried she couldn't. Kagome finally broke down and asked.

"Why couldn't you just stay away? Do you know how hard it was for me Hiei…do you know how hard it was to try and forget you?" Kagome asked.

"And after all of this time…I'm still weak. I still care for you…" Kagome whispered.

"Kagome..." Hiei whispered.

"It took me forever just to lock my feelings for you away, but now your back here. What do you want from me Hiei? Do you wish to torment me with your presence? Eating away at me everyday. You just had to come back here didn't you Hiei…and be you…." Kagome said.

"What…I don't understand." Hiei said softly.

"You just had to be your cold, prideful, stubborn self. That was what I fell in love with Hiei. You. Nothing more, nothing less…Just You. You for all of your perfections and all or your faults…Nothing more. Yet you still turned me away Hiei. Was I not good enough for you? Or did you simply not return the feelings for me? Just tell me…Where did I go wrong in loving you? Why do I still love you after all that you've done to me?" kagome asked.

Hiei stayed silent not knowing what to say.

"Why do I even bother. That's all the answer I've gotten from you and ever will I guess…Goodbye Hiei." Kagome said and rose to leave.

Before Kagome could get too far Hiei grabbed her hand and stopped her. Kagome couldn't take it she collapsed in his arms sobbing. Hiei held her in his arms and took in her scent.

"Kagome…" Hiei whispered loving the way that her name just rolled off of his tongue.

"Don't doubt my feelings for you…I made a mistake all those years ago. I didn't see what a good thing I had with you. I was blinded by my pride. But if I could go back in time I would have never hurt you. I made a mistake, I fell for you and when I realized it, it was too late. I didn't even realize my feelings until I hurt you." Hiei said…

"Can you ever forgive me?" Hiei asked quietly.

Kagome looked deep into those crimson eyes that she loved so much and said. "Did you even have to ask?" Before kissing him fiercely years of pent up love finally coming free on both sides.
