Disclaimer : I was wondering when I'll get tired of
saying they don't belong to me (lol)

It was organized chaos.

I ran to get clothes off then rushed to put another
set on, then I ran to the line to be fussed over, then
to calm down and walk like I wasn't running a few
minuites ago. Come back in behind the curtains, then
run for the next set...

It was overall a lot of fun!

I feel high from the adoration these humans are
giving me, their energy flowed like a boundless stream
soaking me in reiki. I had to realease it back to them
lest I get intoxicated by it.

Hm! dress pants $375, Shirt $150, sports jacket $650,
shoes $185 the look on Hiei's face: Priceless.

He gaped at me when I first came out, eyes bigger
than ususal, jaw slack champagne completely forgotten.
I winked at him and he seemed to snap out of his
trance, the clink of glass told me he broke his flute.
I wanted to look behind me to see if he was alright
but, that would be silly. Of course he'll be alright,
he is Hiei.

When I came out for my next set he was surly and
looking at me like he was a hawk eyeing a potential
prey. He's alright, he has a new flute of champagne
and... Inari! I had to suppress the urge to chuckle,
because his table mates are the very last people he
should be with.

Good thing Allison isn't there, wonder what happened
to her? She was so looking forward to this night.
Hiei's suppose to sit with Gio's hubby Stefan and
their friends Geoffrey, James, Carlos and Ken on the
table next to theirs. Ah well, I'm sure he can handle
himself. I wish I was in his shoes though, I'd have so
much fun fooling around with that crowd he's in.

As it is, all I can do is glance at my beloved and
see what he thinks of the clothes I'm wearing. In my
simpler more common outfits he would look glum or sigh
with relief because in the more sexier outfits, he
would pout or look pissed or simply be distressed.

I loved it! I love the way he frowned and gritted his
teeth when I came out in that leather pants from
Versace. I saw that lady besides him (I think that's
Pfefferberg's wife judging by the rings on her hand)
and Brittany (who sat on his other side) bring up
their program and start fanning themselves.

The fire demon must be winning.

But I sense no real anger from Hiei, just pride in me
simmering under that pissed-off expression. The fire
demon is getting aroused, and the snow maiden is
fighting to keep a semblance of calm. It makes for an
interesting kaleidoscope of expressions on his face.

The wedding suit was the Piece de resistance.

The look he gave me was pure adoration and the words
he whispered to me came from his heart. It made me
blush, I didn't know what to say, so I simply
reaffirmed my vow. He looks so sexy in his suit and
that flush on his cheeks made him look so adorable. I
turned away before I let myself smile.

Hm! I'm going to wear this suit to my wedding.

When the show was finally over we stepped out in
groups for the final bows. Some exclusive high profile
models came out with their designers first, then Gio
pulled me next to him and Tom flanked me when our turn
came. People were standing and clapping and we were
given bouquets, even me. I wasn't a designer so I gave
it to Gloria who was part of our group, she's with Max
Mara and designs ladies fashions.

I saw, Hiei his arms are crossed, and a deadly gleam
was in his eyes while he smirked at us. It's that same
look he gets when he's being challenged.

Gio bent to shake his hand and he stood up to take
his hand in return. He looks so formal, I smiled and
waved at him as Tom did, then I blew him a kiss. He
nodded slowly in response, hm, he's applying those
manners I've been trying to teach him a long time ago.
That's excellent.

I can't wait till this is over, I want to go to him
and talk. I'm so excited!

Backstage, I gave Fredo a hug and kissed him because
I felt good. I returned Tianna and Claudia's hugs and
kissed Marie, and I finally got to taste Anne's skin,
and oh! I can't remember! So many pats on the back and
hands shaken and... where's my sweater? I have to go
out and see my Hiei.

I found my damp sweater along with my equally damp
pants and went to my relatively private corner to get
changed. Everybody was just taking their clothes off
in front of everybody else, which is normal, but
because they loved my thong I had to find a private
corner to change in so they won't get too distracted
with my front.

My belly scars? Makeup, simple and effective, it
wasn't that obvious to begin with. I told them I had
an operation a long time ago and didn't elaborate on
it's nature. The leaf? O yes, that's another reason
why I needed a private corner to change in.

Hm? I'm in sweats and rugged jeans and this is a
formal ball. I'm not appropriately dressed, guess I'll
have to find a bathroom and go back to using my youki.

Oh damn, it's that woman talking to Gio.

Shuichi? Shuichi is that her? The one that pissed
Hiei off in the diamond district?

Hm? Ah yes, that's her. What? She was in the same
table with Hiei? Oh no.

Maybe you should have let Hiei smash her face in, at
least she'll be in a hospital and not here bothering
us.

No, that would have been wrong and you know it too.
Congratulations by the way, your plan succeeded a
little to well.

I felt him smiling as he faded back to where I can't
sense him.

I wonder how we came to this kind of agreement
between ourselves? Hn, damn suppressed memories.

"Fox, Fox, here Caro mio I want you to meet someone."

Gio, oh great, if they weren't blocking the nearest
exit to the ballroom I could have avoided them. "Yes?
What is it?"

"This is Mrs. Joan Whitfields, she's one of my
clients she told me something-um... come let's find
some place private." I nodded politely at her and put
a puzzled look on my face. Gio patted my arm then
glared at me.

"Your wet! Why did you wear those? I'm sorry signora
but we'll have to make this quick, Fox has to change
his clothes." He led us a few steps away from the
exit.

I know exactly what she's going to say, but she never
saw me until now, so I schooled my expression into
concern and curiosity.

"First of all let me just say that you were wonderful
out there dear, congratulations." She held her hand
out to me, I didn't want to shake her hand, but I
didn't want to be impolite when Hiei is trying his
best to be polite.

"Thank you ma'm but I want to know what it is you
wanted to tell me, my lover is waiting." I said and I
saw her frown.

"Does your...boyfriend have black spiky hair with a
white star over the forhead?" She said indicating a
spikey star with her finger. "A little short,
Japanese..."

A little short? Who the hell does she think she's
talking to? I want to kick her ass for calling my Hiei
'A little short'. But instead I nodded calmly and
frowned. "Yes, that's my beloved." I said with
emphasis.

She started when she realized I wasn't happy with
what she said "Eherm, well, I was at the diamond
exchange, in the de Beers showroom, I was there
shopping because-"

"Please Signiora Whitfields, Fox's clothes are damp I
do not want him to catch a cold." Gio said as he
looked at me and I knew that displeasure in his face
was not for me.

She frowned because she got interrupted but
continued. "Well, I saw him with a red headed man, at
first I though he was a woman but his chest was flat.
I stopped them, because they were in the middle of the
room shamelessly making out."

We were not! I was just going to kiss him-!

Shuichi, go back to sleep I'll handle this. I don't
need your righteous indignation right now.

"Are you sure?" I asked in a polite tone of inquiry.
She's getting on my nerves, this lady is nouvou riche
no breeding whatsoever. For goodness sakes she was
wearing diamonds when it wasn't even 6 pm! I'm not
anybody and I know that rule.

And yes, I am aware that I belong to that same
category. But that's not the point.

"I'm positive, he has red hair and shorter than you,
they were hugging each other and were about to kiss
when I saw them. They were shopping for a ring because
I saw the red head come back in to buy one." She said.

I sighed and lowered my head. "I'm going to ask him,
thank you very much madam." I left them for the exits
but Gio caught my arm.

"Gracie signiora, I'll see you later at the ball." he
said as he waved at her. Then he tugged my arm to lead
me back towards my changing corner. "Fox. Do you need
me to go with you?" he asked, concern coloring his
voice.

"No. I can handle this." I said.

He came closer then and in a low voice so as not to
be overheared said. "Don't think I didn't notice the
marks on your cheeks Fox. Fredo told me about your...
situation before you got here. If he's hurting you..."
he let the words hang.

Hm, this man is too nice. "Gio, thank you for your
concern, we barely know each other and yet, you have
taken me under your wing without hesitation. I am
truly grateful for that but," I held his shoulders
"don't worry, I know Hiei. I can handle him, I am not
entirely defenseless you know." I let him go and gave
him a wink "So relax, your the first man I'll talk to
after this."

"Take your clothes off." He patted my chest then my
waist, frowning at the dampness of my clothes.

I crossed my arms and raised a brow at him "I think I
deserve a little foreplay." I said teasing him.

He sighed and gave me a grudging smile "Not from me
you don't." he shook his head "Even your pants are
damp. I'll get you something to wear, anyway those
aren't appropriate." He gave me a couple of wet wipes
before he left to rummage amongst the clothes racks.

"Yes boss." I said as I wiped off the make-up.

He returned with a semiformal white Armani suit, I
didn't model this one because I wore a sexier suit
during that set. The deep lavander blue shirt he chose
highlighted the pale shades of lilac in my hair. He
helped me put it on and he adjusted the length of the
pants by simply taking the pins out.

"As expected from Giovanni Fiorino Scarlatti." I said
while I preened myself in front of the mirror. I
pulled the black ribbon down so that my hair formed a
loose halo around my head.

"I knew this would look beautiful on you, actually
you'll look good in anything. I overheard the girls
while I was getting this suit, do you know what they
were talking about?" He said while he fussed over the
length of my pants.

"Um... me?" I replied, stating the obvious.

He smiled "Duh, but more specifically, they were
talking about your underwear and what it was almost
failing to hide. They were also discussing your
selfishness, because you chose to change in this
corner where they can't see you."

I laughed, I couldn't help it, and he grinned at me
while he flicked invisible dust and strings from my
suit "It's serious Fox, they are trying to think of
ways to get their hands on you. If I were you I'd be
very careful, because some of them will stoop to any
means to get what they want."

"Ah, poor Hiei, I hope he dosen't get pissed-off." I
realized too late that he got me excatly where he
wanted me.

"Is he hurting you Fox?" he asked in a more sober
tone.

"I deserved that one, I was being stubborn." He stood
up and looked at me but said nothing. I know this
tactic too, let the silence ask it's questions "I can
take care of myself, don't worry, we just had a little
argument and we've smoothed it out."

"Is he also seeing someone else while he's with you?
None of my business but..." he sighed with
dissapointed.

I took my damp pants from the boutique bag he had
folded them into, and took the black felt box from
within it's pockets. "That was Shuichi, I asked him to
get this ring for me." He looked at me before he
opened it, and he gasped.

"Deus mio!" he held it to the light "It's beautiful
and big. Is that a real emerald?" I took it away from
him with a snap of lid and smirked.

"Yes, he likes emeralds." I said, he nodded gravely.

"But who's Shuichi?" I put the ring in my jacket
pocket and thought carefully before answering.

"He's Hiei's personal assistant. He's devoted to him
and I can't say more than that." I winked at him and
he frowned.

"You don't deserve to be treated like that." he said
softly.

This is so... weird. I'm my own rival and I can't say
a lot because I have to make sure our alibi's are the
same.

"Don't worry, you'll be the first man I'll talk to
after I talk to him. Is that okay?" he huffed at me
exasperated.

"Whatever. You still have my calling card?" he asked
sternly.

"Yes. It's in my coat upstairs, and I have your
number on my celphone. Now, what about these?" I asked
pointing at the suit I'm wearing.

"That I'm afraid will have to be signed for, but
don't worry, you'll get the discount." He took my damp
pants and folded them with expert ease into the
boutique bag.

Mou... I have Shuichi's cards. "Do I have to sign for
it now?"

"Lane isn't here, you'll be staying right? I'll have
her deliver the receipt and your wet clothes to the
front desk, you can pick them up at your leisure. " I
sighed with relief, because I can't hand over
Shuichi's card and 'forge' a signature on the spot now
can I?

"Fox, it's not hard to like you and even easier to
love you. I'm just concerned, we are all concerned,
okay?" He patted my shoulder. "Go talk to him about
that 'personal assistant' first. Don't jump blindly
into this."

I caught his shoulders and gave both his cheeks a
kiss "Don't worry papa, I'll take care of it."

"I am not that old, but I swear I'll get old before
my time because of you." He said berating me even as
he hooked an arm around mine. I snorted as he led me
out of my changing corner, towards the pile of flowers
they had recieved from the crowd. He gestured, and I
picked a single white rose that was red at the edges.

This rose symbolizes unity, almost in full bloom, and
yet I think of my beloved's corrupted innocence as I
drank it's scent. "Well, wish me luck." He patted my
shoulder.

"Talk to him first and good luck." he smiled and left
me to take care of something, somewhere.

Hiei and I will have to come up with a plausible
alibi.

I went out and I couldn't help but smile. I am my own
competition! How bizarre is that? But changing clothes
and talking to Gio had given me time to realize that,
the reason I was so pissed at that poor woman was
because I was impatient to be with my beloved.

I had watched every expression that flitted across
his eyes, and felt the rise of his youki. His
whispered thoughts carried the edge of suppressed
passion sharp enough to cleave the shield around my
own suppressed needs.

I want to hold him, I ache to touch him, I want his
heat to fill me and surround me.

I walked towards the table where I last saw him and
politely excused myself from people who tried to block
my path. I barely listened to them and I even recieved
a calling card with a hand shake.

Shuichi was right, this plan suceeded a little too
well, I politely refused 2 modeling agencies, a talent
scout for a soap opera, several invitations to post
ball private parties, and interviews for magazines. I
sighed heavily, knowing why I got impatient with Joan
Whitfields made me more patient with these people.

When I finally made my way to Hiei's table, I still
had a persistent modeling agent making offers, a movie
talent agent, and a rich girl who wanted to invite me
to her private party.

The sight of Hiei talking calmly to a group of men,
made me smile. He nodded at one of them and he gave
his usual one line responses. As I approached, I
realized they were talking about stocks and insurance
bonds.

My lover looked up at me and he nodded, and a small
smile that was almost not there graced his lips. I
could see the pride in his eyes, his hopes, the love
right there behind that tiny smile.

Time to claim my beloved.

Before he could stand and offer me a seat I knelt
down next to him and kissed his palm, then I leaned in
and waited for him to acknowledge me. He covered the
distance between us and gave me a chaste kiss, just
our lips hugging each other for a heart beat. Then his
hand caressed my cheek possesively.

"You were wonderful koiishi." he whispered and I felt
my ears go red, his praises mean so much to me. I
tapped his nose with the rose and he took it from me
with a raised brow.

"For you." I took the rose from him and pinched off
the stem, then I snapped off the little thorns before
I kissed it and settled it on his lapel with a final
pat.

"Thank you." He nodded, he stood up then and with a
slight bow presented me with his chair. Once I've sat
he went and pulled an empty one and put it right
besides mine.

I looked around to find Miles looking everywhere
except at us, the old man in the crowd had an
unreadable expression on his face, while 2 guys gave
me that look that told me they're gay and loved every
minuite of what they saw.

"Fox this is Geoffrey Scott, Miles Pfefferberg, Peter
Whitfields and Jason Manns." I rose to take their
hands.

Geoffrey was very enthusiastic about shaking my
hand. "You were wonderful out there, the crowd just
loved you."

"Where's Stefan? and Ken?" I asked him and his eyes
went wide.

"Oh my God! Your-? Congratulations! I didn't know and
he's-?" he asked as he gestured to Hiei with an open
hand.

I chuckled at the puzzled expression Hiei gave us.
"Yes, and thank you." I let his hand go "Gentlemen
it's been a pleasure. But I need to borrow Hiei for a
while. Koi? I need to tell you something important
come with me please?" I asked as I held my hand out to
him. He frowned but he accepted my hand "Excuse us
gentlemen." I nodded at them and pulled Hiei away from
that circle.

We went towards the closed french doors that led
towards a series of small balconies. I picked the one
furthest away and stopped in the act of taking one of
my vines from my pants pocket. I looked at Hiei and he
opened the lock with a twist of thought. I didn't get
the chance to change back to using my youki, which
worked out well because photos were being taken of me
without my consent.

Once away from sight I picked Hiei up and squeezed
him tight while I kissed him. He replied with equal
passion, but I cut our kiss short and put him down, I
sensed people watching us.

"What?" Hiei asked flustered.

"Sorry love. I didn't want them to see you like
that," I leaned over and nuzzled his hair "I missed
you so much."

"Hn." he reached behind me and pulled the ribbon off
my hair, then he raked my scalp with his fingers, it
drew a sigh of pleasure from me. He looked up with a
pleased smile then crossed his arms as he turned to
one side and looked over the railings at the street
and the lights of downtown manhattan.

"Baby we have a slight problem." I said.

"I know. That Whitfields woman. Told you I should
have smashed her face in, then she'll be in a hospital
and won't be bothering us." he turned around and
hopped to sit on the railing.

I chuckled, those were my thoughts exactly, "Hmmm, I
wish so too, but Shuichi was adamant. Ah well, it's
too late. Now we need to do some damage control." I
put my arms on the railings next to his hips and
rested my chin on his shoulder. He parted his legs so
I can get closer to him if I wanted to and one of his
hands, strayed to my back where it played with a lock
of my hair.

It was snowing fine white crystals, no wonder they
closed these doors, but it wasn't cold enough to keep
the snow in it's crystal form. It turned to slush in
the streets, making everything wet and surreal,
sparkling and enchanted.

"Why don't we just leave here now and go to Staten
Island and stay there while we wait for that demon?"
he said as he adjusted himself to support the weight
of my head.

"Can't, there's a very important date we have to go
to on Wednesday, and our cards from the Swiss bank
aren't here yet." I suppressed the grin that
threatened to split my face. Our super secret surprise
wedding is coming up so we can't stay in Staten
Island, sure we can make a quick trip but, we have to
be back real soon.

He was instantly suspicious, his fingers stopped
twirling my hair. But before he could say anything I
butted in. "So what do we tell them about Shuichi?"

He grunted, "You think." he rested his head on my
shoulder "I told them your my lover, nothing more."

"I told Gio, Shuichi is your personal assistant." I
said as I watched tiny crystals turn into water on my
linked fingers behind his back.

"So I sleep with my personal assistant in a one bed
honeymoon suite, I also let him hold me and kiss me in
public." Hiei said as his fingers resumed tugging at
my hair. I pulled away a little and looked down at
him.

He was completely at ease, no masks, no attitude, just him
twirling my hair around 1 slender digit. I felt
jealous all of a sudden, I'm the only one allowed to
see Hiei's vulnerability. With my body, I shielded him
from prying eyes, I want this look on Hiei's face to
be mine alone.

"Wait, not done." I said as I traced his chin with
the back of one finger "He's our lover." he snorted.

"Then he should have been here to watch his lover on
his big night."

"Hmm, good point." I sighed again, wishing this
conversation was over so I can get to the fun part.
"He has to go back to Japan on urgent business?"

"Then you can't show yourself as Minamino anymore.
You can't use his cards and you can't open that
american account the way you are."

"That's acceptable, we don't need those cards anyway."
But how can I marry Hiei with that story going around
that we are a threesome?

"So Shuichi is our lover and he's gone back to Japan
to handle my portfolio?" Hiei asked.

Portfolio? I smiled, "Ahhh, no." I leaned away from
him because the snow had fallen thicker. I looked up,
the clumps of crystal water dusted my face and melted.

I forgot whatever it was I was going to say.

Hiei looked up too and we watched the snow get
thicker and fatter, a clump of snow falkes landed on
my lashes it caught the light and filled my eye with
liquid stars... what a beautiful night!

"Your distracted Youko." I heard him say. He pulled
me down by grabbing my forelock and he licked a
cluster of snowflakes from my chin. I brushed drops of
pure water from his cheeks and though very little of
what he felt showed in his face, I knew he was very
happy.

"All the time, thanks to you." I said as I leaned in
to kiss his forehead. His Jagan had stopped pushing
me away sometime ago, I don't feel that soft barrier
whenever I kiss his forehead anymore.

I better get this thing over with, I would rather
waste time drowning in Hiei's eyes, than fuzz over
technicalities.

"Your going to break up with Shuichi okay? He used to
be your lover, but he understands that you have moved
on. He remains your personal assistant though and
he's also my good friend. He's gone back to Japan
because your business requires him to be there. How's
that?"

"Hn, your jealous of yourself?" he asked.

"Yes, I want no competition, your mine, I kicked him
out of New York so I can propose to you." I stepped
away from him and pulled his hand from my hair. He let
it go reluctantly and hopped down from the railing. I
knelt down again and took out the felt box, I opened
it and held it out to him. He stared at the emerald
with wide eyes and open mouth. "Hiei will you marry
me?" I asked.

He looked at me like I was being ridiculous then said
"Didn't I say yes over and over before? Isn't this the
ring-"

I sighed, of course my baby doesn't know this western ningen
custom. "Hiei, say yes, if you will marry me, if you
want to be with me for good, take this ring and wear
it."

"When your acting like a moron, like right now, I
want to rap your head with my knuckles." he said with
a frown.

"Come on!" I grinned "This is a ningen custom, bear
with me." I poked his belly. "Come on, tell me, tell
me!" I kept poking his belly until he swatted my hand
away and a smile escaped the irritated frown he was
cultivating.

He shook his head then gave a long suffering sigh.
"The things I do for you Kurama."

He took the ring out and I put it on his left hand.
He held it out to the orange lights of the highway and
gave me his true smile "Now I can see the reflection
of your eyes on my hand." he said and a soft gasp
escaped him "Kurama, is that what you have planned
for Wednesday?" he asked his voice gone soft.

"Yes, a ningen ceremony to formally bind us
together." I linked my hands around his waist, still
on my knee enjoying Hiei's rare smile. His sweet
baritone was a shade lower when he said.

"Aishiteru baka no kitsune, of course I'll marry
you."
