“So who's house is he staying at tonight?” Yusuke asked as they walked down the side-walk. Hiei had fallen behind yet again and was glaring off to the side, trying to ignore people who gave him odd looks.

“Can't stay at mine,” Kuwabara said, “Shizuru is still trying to explain to my parents why my video game console is broken.”

“My mother's out of town tonight. He could stay at my house,” Kurama suggested. Yusuke turned his head to face Kurama who looked at him in return and blinked.

“You're not gonna do anything, right Kurama?” Kuwabara asked. Kurama sighed but he was smiling.

“Of course I won't,” Kurama said giving his friends an innocent smile. They both perked a brow then laughed. Hiei turned to look at them and raised an annoyed brow, they were probably talking about him again. Just great. Yusuke looked at his watch.

“Shit guys I was suppose to meet Keiko five minutes ago. I'll catch you guys later!” Yusuke shouted as he ran ahead of them, shoving people aside who yelled `Hey!'s or curses after him. Kuwabara sighed a little him self then turned to Kurama.

“I have to get some things done for my sister so I'll see you guys too,” he said and turned off into a clothing store with a slight cringe. It was most likely to get under clothes or something. Kurama continued walking with his hands tucked in pockets, Hiei caught up with his friend and walked beside him. Kurama was walking with a rather blank face and Hiei just looked annoyed.

“So, do you want to get your things from Yusuke's and drop them off at my house? Mother bought some ice cream before she left,” Kurama said looking at his friend. Hiei's annoyed face mellowed out to something of an excited child trying to hide it. He shrugged and looked away, not wanting to show how much he'd like that.

“Sure, I have the key,” Hiei said. They turned to walk the long way to Yusuke's which was really just walking the block instead of cutting through allies. Actually the truth was Hiei had a copy of the keys to each of his friend's houses. Just incase they didn't leave the windows open for him. Their parents met Hiei and often just assumed that his parents were out drinking. No one wanted to explain to them that Hiei's mother had killed herself and his father had raped and molested him. He'd had a restraining order from his father and his friends parents had understood that he needed a place to stay. The only problem now was that the restraining order was in void and his mother was no longer alive to get it remade and signed. So everything that had been working for a solid eleven years was now falling apart.

“We can rent movies too if you like,” Kurama suggested as they turned the corner. Hiei shrugged, in truth he really didn't know what he wanted to do, just get off the street and stay inside. He'd never fully admit it, but his father terrified him.

As the two neared Yusuke's house Hiei pulled the key out of his pocket and unlocked the front door. Kurama waited outside the door as Hiei ran inside to grab his stuff. It was getting dark outside and all the lights were off. Hiei flicked the living room light on and walked to Yusuke's room. He stopped when he thought he heard someone inside the closed room.

“He wouldn't be home already,” Hiei said as he carefully walked over to the door. He pressed his ear against the door to listen closer. He could hear the futon creaking, drawers being opened, pulled out of the dresser, and dropped on the floor. He heard his bag unzipped and things inside being moved around as well. My picture of Yukina's in there!

Without thinking beyond the picture of his sister Hiei opened the door and looked in at the dark. The light flooded in behind him showing someone kneeling next to his bag. Hiei's eyes widened slightly and he was too shocked to move. The shadow lunged forward, knocking Hiei back to the ground. Two hands firmly grabbed his wrists pinning them above his head and out of use. The light let the person's features be shown.

His hair was just as black as Hiei's, shining like a raven's feather in moonlight. It was longer then Hiei's, but it looked smooth and perfect. It only went to his shoulders and hung down instead of being up in a defying gravity way like Hiei's was. Red eyes that did fire no justice locked with the teenager pressed to the floor. The face was the same peachy complexion as Hiei and the resemblance between the two was uncanny. He was only a few inches taller then Hiei, and build to a strong perfection without being bulky. His voice rolled deeply without being horribly like an ugly giant.

“Hello Hiei,” he said, his face only inches from the teenagers. Hiei tried to make himself look angry but he was too shocked, he just panicked and struggled to get out from under his father.

“Get off of me! Get off!” He yelled, “Kurama!”

His father leaned down to force open Hiei's mouth with his tongue, locking his jaw with his sons and twisting his tongue through his mouth. Hiei's screams were muffled but didn't stop. He tried to shove himself up, to bulldoze his father off of him but it wasn't working, and that didn't stop him from trying. The moment didn't last much longer before Kurama shoved open the door and ran into the room.

“Hiei!” he ran straight for his friend. Hiei's father broke the kiss and got up, charging into Kurama and knocking the red-haired teen back before he ran out of the house.

“See you soon, son,” he said as he ran out of the house. Hiei scrambled back away from the spot he had been pressed against just moments ago. His eyes too wide and his pupils too small, he scrambled back until he ran into the table then just stopped. Kurama jumped back up to his feet and ran over to Hiei, kneeling down beside him.

“Hiei! Hiei look at me!” Kurama shouted. Hiei turned to look at Kurama but it's as though he wasn't seeing his friend. Kurama, very alarmed, softly touched Hiei's cheek. The black haired teen flinched away, “It's just me Hiei. Kurama.”

“Ku…Kurama?” Hiei asked and blinked. Kurama nodded and softly touched the teen's cheek again. Hiei didn't flinch away; he leaned into it a little in fact. Kurama let out a breath, “Is he gone?”

“Yeah Hiei, let's get your stuff and move to my house,” Kurama said. He stood up and walked into Yusuke's room, tucking Hiei's things back in his black duffle bag and walking out for the door, Hiei met him there. The teen was wiping his mouth over and over again, “We have mouthwash.”

“Good,” Hiei said. The two walked quietly to the better part of town, Yuske and Kuwabara didn't live in the `slums' but Kurama did live in a slightly neater part of town. Clean cut and perfect when you walk along the sidewalk. It was almost annoying, the people here looked at Hiei like he might break into their houses and steal all their valuables. One summer when someone's gold bracelet was stolen the whole neighborhood tried to pin it on Hiei when in fact her daughter had taken it and lost it.

Kurama unlocked the door and flicked the light on. He set Hiei's bag down beside the door and walked for the kitchen. Hiei shut and locked the door behind him and followed after Kurama, but then turned for the bathroom. Kurama went to the kitchen to grab the ice cream and two spoons. He was originally planning on just giving Hiei a bowl of the frozen treat but after that, he decided they could just share the container.

Hiei swished the mouthwash around his mouth then gargled and spit it out in the white porcelain sink. He looked at himself in the mirror and washed off his face before he walked out into the living room and sat on the couch. Kurama walked out of the kitchen with the tub and two spoons. He sat next to Hiei and handed him a spoon, opening the sweet snow. Hiei's eyes seemed to brighten up a little more when he looked at the chocolate sweet snow. Without seeming too eager he took a few quick spoonfuls that gradually got larger as he took more.

“I see you're feeling better,” Kurama laughed slightly. Hiei shrugged, he liked hearing Kurama laugh, and it was almost comforting. Kurama turned on the T.V and the two teens argued on what to watch, Hiei stole the remote and they watched a horror movie, much to Kurama's cringing dismay.
