Kurama opened the door after Yusuke knocked on it rapidly for several seconds. The black haired teen had his hands tucked in his black jean pockets, leaning his weight on one foot. It was just after noon and Kurama and Hiei had been cleaning up the house for when his mother returned home.

“Yusuke?” Kurama blinked. Hiei looked up from the magazine he was reading on the couch, his legs crossed at the ankles and up on the couch.

“Yeah, came to check on Hiei.” Yusuke said as he attempted to look past Kurama's shoulder. Hiei glared.

“I'm fine,” he mumbled from the living room. Yusuke's brow perked up a bit in confusion.

“What?” he asked.

“He said he was fine Yusuke,” Kurama said. Yusuke looked back at Kurama and blinked.

“Yeah, well mind if I come in?” he asked.

“Why?” Kurama questioned. Yusuke looked a bit surprised.

“To…hang out?” he suggested. Usually the red haired teen always invited his guests in. At least when they were as close friends as Yusuke was. Or at least, thought he was.

“Hiei and I were just cleaning,” Kurama told him. Yusuke shrugged.

“So? I've got no where else to go, Kuwabara's out for a few hours,” he said. Kurama seemed to sigh a bit and stepped out of the doorway. Yusuke shook his head and held up his hands.

“Hey, if I'm unwelcome I'll just take off,” he said taking a half step back.

“No, it's okay. Hiei's just being a bit…edgy,” Kurama told him, “Come in.”

Yusuke perked a brow then shrugged it off and walked inside. Hiei glared at Yusuke as he walked inside and took a seat in one of the chairs. The brown eyed teen furrowed his brow at the glare. Kurama stepped into the kitchen to get himself something to drink.

“Want something, Yusuke?” Kurama asked from the kitchen.

“Uh, soda's fine,” Yusuke said, Hiei looked back at the magazine, attempting to ignore him, “What's with you?”

“Hn,” Hiei said. Kurama walked back in with three cans of soda and them all down on the table. He took a seat in the chair opposite Yusuke's and opened his own soda.

“So did you have fun with Keiko yesterday?” Kurama asked. Yusuke sighed and slouched in the chair.

“Not really. She's nagging at me for ditching all our other dates,” Yusuke muttered, “They're not really dates at all. She just drags me along for shopping.”

“Sounds like a date to me,” Kurama said with a small laugh. Yusuke only shook his head. They're not dates. No matter what he says, they aren't dates. Yusuke thought to himself.

“So what's wrong with Hiei?” Yusuke asked as though the teenager wasn't there. Hiei glared out of the corner of his eye at Yusuke.

“I'm not sure, he's been acting strangely,” Kurama said, “but hasn't told be what's wrong.”

Yusuke turned his deep brown eyes to Hiei, “So Hiei, what's up?”

“Hn,” Hiei replied and looked back at the magazine, he wasn't even reading it anymore. All he could think about was that note he'd found, it made rage build up inside of him.

“That isn't an answer, so I'm gonna ask again, what's wrong with you?” Yusuke tried again. After a lack of answer he got up and walked over to the teenager, sitting on the table, “Hiei?”

Hiei felt cornered, between the back of the couch and Yusuke he felt almost trapped. He tried to make it seem calm as he tossed the magazine on the floor and switched ends of the couch. Yusuke watched him move but didn't move himself.

“Hiei?” Kurama questioned.

“Hn,” He said for the third time. Yusuke was really getting annoyed now.

“Tell us what's wrong!” he demanded. Hiei couldn't take it anymore, he glared at Yusuke, glared to hard the brown haired teen looked shocked.

“You want to know what's wrong? You're lying that's what's wrong!” He said as he stood up. Yuske stood up again and glared back at the shorter teenager, lucky for Hiei he was standing those few enough feet back that Yusuke didn't seem taller then him. Even if he had it wouldn't have mattered, when he was angry, Hiei seemed to tower.

“My lying?” Yusuke asked in disbelief, “What have I been lying about?!”

“You've been talking with my father!” Hiei growled. Yusuke seemed thoroughly shocked and pissed off.

I've been WHAT!?” Yusuke roared, Hiei only stared hard at him.

“Yusuke don't yell so loud!” Kurama called as he stood up.

“He'd better explain himself! I just found out his dad was in town yesterday!” Yusuke snapped.

“That's what you say but you must have known for months. How much money did he offer Yusuke?” Hiei asked, his voice wasn't yelling, it was more said through gritted teeth. He was trying to stay calm and it wasn't working as well as he'd hoped.

“How much what?” Yusuke interrogated.

“How much money? You know, the money he was going to give you for handing me over,” Hiei asked.

“What are you talking about!?”

“Fine, play stupid, it's what you really are. A stupid, betraying, foolish creature,” Hiei said and turned. He walked out of the front door and slammed it behind him. Yusuke watched him leave, he didn't wince as the door slammed but Kurama did.

“That little shit,” Yusuke cursed as he sat on the couch. Kurama almost went after Hiei but decided against chasing the teen. He probably needed time to blow off his anger.

“I agree that could have gone better,” he said and looked at Yusuke. The black haired teen was glaring at the table. His hands clenched into fists.

“What the hell was he thinking? What money?” Yusuke asked more himself then Kurama. But as usual the teen attempted to answer anyway.

“I don't know. Maybe he'd had a nightmare. Or maybe his dad had snuck in last night and put a note on the table for Hiei to see,” Kurama suggested, Yusuke looked at him and blinked.

“How'd you know it was a note? I thought Hiei's dad had told him or something,” Yusuke said. Kurama blinked and then gave a nervous little laugh.

“He tried to throw out a bunch of pieces of paper while we were cleaning. It looked like a note and I thought his father's name signed on it,” Kurama said. Yusuke sighed and rubbed his eyes. This was really not going to be a good day.

“You think it's a good idea to just let him roam around out there? I mean his dad's out there,” Yusuke said. Kurama shook his head.

“He needs to blow off some steam on his own. If we go after him it'll only make him angrier,” Kurama said. Yusuke sighed again and leaned forward, his elbows on his thighs and he covered his face in his hands.

“Maybe you're right,” he said. Kurama stood up and looked out the window behind his chair with piercing green eyes. Wondering where Hiei had gone.
