Oh my god it's been so long since I updated. I feel so bad. T_T I just have to update now because I feel like I've been cheating you guys. Do I even still have any fans for this story? I'm so sorry. I was lazy with it then I've recently started High School and - gah!- don't worry I'll fix this problem and try to finish up this story.

Hiei's sleep was, thankfully, a dreamless one that involved no thoughts of his father or Kurama. He hadn't even wondered about what was going on with his friend's outside his little room. Well, not really that little. It was a fact among the group that Hiei suffered from mild claustrophobia. Another little problem brought on by his father who would often attempt to get at Hiei in closest so hopefully no one would see. His mother usually managed to find him before anything to serious could happen, but the mental damage still lingered.

When warm sunlight gently caressed the skin of Hiei's forehead his brow furrowed a bit and he frowned in his sleep. His body felt a bit stiff and uncomfortable and he slowly opened his sleep hazed eyes. He only managed to get them open partially before he squinted in the sunlight and ducked back into the room. Lazily he fell back onto the bed with a light creak of springs and put an arm up over his eyes. His wrists still stung but he was feeling better then he had been the day before, another thing to be thankful for.

As if knowing that the black haired teen had just woken up the door opened and Yusuke walked in. Brown eyes blinkingly met shadowed red ones before he averted his gaze for a moment. It seemed like he had to correct himself before he tried to talk, then he walked over towards the bed, “Look who's finally awake.”

Hiei didn't reply solidly, he moved his arm back over his eyes and let out a light breathed out grunt of a reply. He obviously wasn't much in the mood for talking at this point in time, yet part of him had the feeling his voice would be scratchy if he tried.

“Kurama came by earlier,” Yusuke told him, glancing sideways at the empty sweet snow container that still sat on the bedside table, “It's about one in case you're wondering. He came by around eleven but you were still asleep.”

The waking teen didn't reply to what Yusuke said, he really couldn't think of much to say about it anyway. At mention of Kurama his mind briefly moved back to his strange dream and that question of why Kurama was looking at him like that. But he wasn't about to bring something like that up with Yusuke, despite the fact part of him told him he should.

The two sat in silence for a while before Hiei moved his arm down so it rested lazily over his stomach. He stared up at the ceiling as his eyes adjusted to the light. Yusuke stood up and moved to walk back for the door but soon stopped, “Yusuke.” Hiei said. His voice was slightly firm but it lacked body. Just as he had thought it was weak and frail, and he hated it but there was nothing he could really do about that now so it was pretty pointless to try.

Yusuke had his hand on the handle when Hiei said his name and stopped, pausing for a moment before he turned around and stuffed his hands in his jean pockets, “Yeah?”

Hiei hadn't exactly been expecting him to respond. Well, he had, but now that Yusuke actually did he wasn't sure of what he wanted to say. Or if he was he certainly didn't know how to phrase it. This only made him feel even stupider about telling the other male to wait, as if he had something to say. Taking a silent breath in he focused his eyes on a point in the ceiling, “I heard you and Kuwabara talking last night about Kurama and all that.”

Yusuke didn't look too surprised at the news but he did glance down at his feet for a moment. Inside he felt kind of bad about that, he didn't mean Hiei to hear him and Kuwabara. But why did it really matter? He normally didn't care so much, he looked back up, “Yeah? So?”

Carefully Hiei sat up, being careful of his still rather tender body. Sitting up made his spine ache and his wrists still stung, they'd need to be cleaned again but he wouldn't say that out loud either. There were so many things he probably should have mentioned but he never did. While this wasn't healthy either, he didn't care, he turned to look at Yusuke after sitting up, still slightly hunched over, “You didn't write that note to Yoma.”

“No shit,” Yusuke said, not really thinking before he spoke, which was typical of him. That still didn't make it right though, he inwardly flinched at that, “I mean…”

“Don't worry about it,” Hiei said and looked forward again at the covers his legs were still hidden under. Some typed of feeling was holding steadfast onto his insides and didn't seem to want to let go. He lightly brushed his fingers, subconsciously, over his stomach as if once more checking to make sure there wasn't a huge chunk of it missing. Before he realized it Yusuke was sitting on the edge of his bed and looking at him slightly annoyed but slightly worried as well.

“What's up Hiei?” he asked, his tone a bit softer. Not that he was whispering, it was more like there was someone outside the room he didn't want to hear him. Which could have been the case, he hadn't told Hiei if Kuwabara had left yet. Though he was pretty sure the orange haired one had left around the time Kurama had stopped by.

Hiei looked up, unaware of how he looked to Yusuke. His eyes were slightly dulled and his shoulders hunched. He seemed tired despite all the sleep he had been getting and a bit paler than usual. In the summer Hiei could get a nice tan going for him but at the moment he just seemed worn and sick. It picked a heart string in Yusuke's chest that made him want to reach up and rub the spot as if it would help, but he knew it wouldn't.

“Nothing,” Hiei replied and looked out the window again. He could always avert his gaze to some open place, it sort of seemed like the guys made it that way for him. It was like if he couldn't find a place to just breathe he would freak out. Even if he wasn't actually in that spot at the time it was still nice for him to know there was one.

With a bit of a sigh Yusuke stood up off the bed and walked over to the door to pull it open again, “If you need anything just call.”

“I can get it for myself,” Hiei said, more on instinct than anything else, as he looked over to Yusuke with slightly cold eyes. Just because his father had gotten to him again that didn't make him a sniveling child, despite the fact inside he sort of felt that way.

Though Hiei couldn't see it - Yusuke was smiling slightly as he walked out of the room, “I know Hiei.”

Oh my god, it was so short and pathetic. But don't worry! The next chapter is coming up right as soon as I finish it. I'll make sure to do it tonight. I'll start right now, promise!
