Chapter 4: Training Battle I - Leo vs. Kuwabara

 

 

 

“Yusuke, you jerk!” Kayko shouted in Yusuke's face. “Are you going to start leaving me here everyday?”

“I didn't know, Kayko. I swear.” Yusuke tried defending himself. “How about this then, why don't I take you with me to Genkai's temple? That way you aren't alone and I still get my training.”

“Okay, I guess that's fine.” Kayko sounded less than enthusiastically.

Hiei was watching the scene from outside the house. “How can Yusuke take orders from her? I'll never understand these humans.” he thought to himself.

 

The next day Kayko and Yusuke walked into the front yard of Genkai's temple. Genkai was waiting and told them to follow her to the training area. When they arrived, they saw everyone else was there, including Gavin's group.

Yusuke walked over to Gavin who was leaning against a tree separate from the others.

“It's about time you arrived, Yusuke. We were thinking you weren't going to show.” Gavin said without looking up.

Yusuke replied, “You didn't need to worry. There is no way I was going to stay behind when I have a score to settle with both you and Hiei.”

“We'll see if you have the chance to fight us both.” Gavin said calmly as he walked over to Genkai and Konryu who were standing together.

Yusuke looked around. He noticed that this was where he had fought Rando back during his second mission as Spirit Detective. He found it a little anticlimatic considering that he had just witnessed him die yesterday at the hands of Gavin. Genkai shouted out, ending Yusuke's trip down memory lane.

“Alright, we're ready to start the battles! Each match will be one-on-one. They will continue to be fought until one person either gives up or is incapacitated. First match will be between Leo and Kuwabara.”

Yusuke smirked at Kuwabara. “Don't get your ass kicked too bad.”

Kuwabara just looked at Yusuke, “Fuck you.”

Genkai shouted “You may begin whenever you are ready.”

 

Kuwabara shouted “That's what I was waiting for! Spirit Sword!” He swung his sword down toward Leo, but was stopped by a purple blade in front of him. “What the hell is that?”

Leo smirked and said, “It's my Chaos Blade. I was taught by Konryu too.”

“Fine! I'll still pound your ass!”

They continued clashing with their swords. Eventually, Kuwabara, pissed, shouted “Double Spirit Sword!” and produced a second sword in his left hand.

“Double Chaos Blade.” Leo said calmly. He produced a second sword himself.

Hiei watching the scene said “This isn't good. Kuwabara is treating this as an ego contest. This will be finished in the next five minutes.”

“You're right, Hiei.” said Kurama. “If Kuwabara doesn't get past this thought that he should be the only one with a sword, then he is finished. If only there was some move that he had that Leo didn't.”

After clashing for a while longer, Kuwabara shouted, “Spirit Sword Shards!”

Leo responded in kind, shouting “Chaos Blade Shards!”

The blasts of energy met in air and shattered into pieces, disappating.

Kuwabara began to think, “There must be something I can do. He can't know everything I do.” Then Kuwabara got an idea. “That's it! The one thing no one else knows!”

Without speaking, Kuwabara produced another sword. This one looked like a double-edged Spirit Sword.

Leo produced another sword as well. “Haven't you learned yet? Your Spirit Sword doesn't work.”

Kuwabara said “I realized that a few seconds ago. That's why I have this. Now I'll take you down!”

Kuwabara ran towards Leo and swung before reaching him. Everyone stared wondering if Kuwabara had gone finally insane. Suddenly, blood spewed from Leo and he fell to his knees. His sword had disappeared and Leo looked up and asked Kuwabara, “That wasn't your Spirit Sword. What the hell was that?”

Kuwabara responded “It's my dimensional Spirit Sword. I got it awhile back during the Sensui case. I was almost eaten by one of Sensui's goons because of it.”

“I see. So you can slice across dimensions and make this sword impossible to block. You're actually a lot better than I thought you'd be. I need a nap” Leo collapsed face first into the muck. Everyone looked shocked until they heard snoring coming from the mud.

Gavin covered his forehead with his hand. “Typical Leo, always wanting a nap.”

 

Genkai raised her left hand and shouted “First match winner is Kuwabara. Someone drag Leo away so the second match can begin. The opponents will be Hiei and Sai.”

Hiei looked thrilled as he walked into the center of the area. He hadn't had a fight in a while and he could sense a power behind this Sai character. He hoped it would allow him to have a least a little bit of fun.

I'm back and yes, I did have Kuwabara win his first match in my fanfic. I thought I would make it a little ironic that for once he would use his brain in a fight. Also, don't miss my next chapter. It's going to be great - Hiei vs. Sai. This will be bloody rage with two supreme fighters. It may end with both of them dead! ….. Probably not, but it will still be an awesome fight!
