His Reasons to Live

In the next few days, Yusuke stayed away from Sesshomaru. He was pissed that the inu-youkai didn't tell him that his former teammates were the CEOs they were meeting. After leaving the infirmary that day, Susa and Yusuke had a bit of freedom to beat the hell out of Nick.

When it came to Hakuya, Yusuke and Kagome get a bit overprotective. In truth...Hakuya is special. She has the powers of a miko and the blood of a demon. Though her blood is only a one-third it was enough. Kagome and Yusuke agreed that they wanted Hakuya to live a normal life. So Kagome didn't train her or tell Hakuya of her powers. Hakuya wears a necklace around her neck that sealed away her powers like the bracelets seal away Yusuke and his children's spirit energy. Hakuya was never told who her really father was, but everyone thinks it is Sesshomaru due to her appearance.

Kagome, in trying to calm Yusuke's anger, suggested evening strolls out of the house. Yusuke smiled at that. Kagome was the only one who could understand him now-a-days. So this began to become a daily thing. Yusuke would do his work, slacking off slightly just to annoy Sesshomaru, then later that night go off for a walk before he went to bed. Though everything was okay now, Yusuke's mind had this nagging feeling at the back saying not all was well. Kagome always told him to tell her if he had those feelings, but this was different. Yusuke unusually gets in trouble after these feelings...this time it just seemed as if it was the right thing to do to keep it a secret.

"Dad....daddy?" Nefertiri knocked on the door while peeking into Yusuke's office. "Can I come in?"

"Of course Nefertiri-chan," Yusuke replied as he stopped typing to look up at his daughter. She slid into the room and closed the door. "Now what is it?"

She played with her hair as she looked at Yusuke. He raised an eyebrow as he watched the nervous habit. "Er...dad I was wondering if you would be my date for the dance?"

"Aren't I a little old to be your date?"

"So?" Nefertiri said.

"What about the other boys at school?" Yusuke asked.

"They all have dates. Remember there are more girls than boys...and I wasn't one of the lucky ones to get a date." Yusuke frowned as he looked at his daughter. He pushed his chair back slightly and patted his thigh. Nefertiri smiled and walked quickly to her father and sat on his thigh. "I remember when I did this when I was younger...."
"Yep, you would be upset and come crawling into my lap. It seems this time I called you here." Yusuke smiled at his daughter. "Now...I thought you would have a boyfriend by now. You know you are beautiful." Nefertiri blushed.

"I know....I had one, but I broke it off because he was groping other girls."

'This reminds me of the monk Kag-chan was always talking about...' "And I didn't hear of this because...."

"I was embarrassed?" Nefertiri laughed. She giggled when Yusuke began to bounce her on his leg slightly. "It's in the past...but I really need a date...and I don't want to ask Uncle Sessho or Inu-chan."

"Alright, but I'm going in as an undercover chaperon okay?" Yusuke replied mischievously. He started to hum the 'Mission Impossible' Theme. The girl on his knee laughed and nodded.

"I already told the teachers that. So everything is all set! And Daibo-chan said she was going too."

"So when is the dance?" He asked.

"In two nights..." Nefertiri said as she stood up. Yusuke nodded and smiled at her. "Oh and dad...those three guys are back. They felt weird to me." Her father's face became very serious as he listened to her. "I don't know how to describe it but it felt like a part of me was scared of them. That they held something overwhelming in them...does that make any sense?"

Yusuke nodded. "Don't worry Nefertiri, I'm sure we can just pass it off as a feeling of meeting new people." She looked at her father with a frown, but nodded.

“You’re right…it is just…I don’t know…” Nefertiri sighed and rubbed her head. “I’m so confused….”

“Don’t worry about it Nefertiri...” Yusuke replied. Nefertiri smiled at her father and left the room. Yusuke frowned slightly and turned toward the window. He was going to have to talk to Kagome and Sesshomaru about Nefertiri’s feelings.

Kurama frowned as he looked down at the screen before. He had gotten the files from Koenma about the important people at the Nishimori building. His eyes skimmed the file again.

The boy did remind him of Yusuke a bit too much for his taste. He preferred to keep those feelings in the back of his mind. Kurama shook his head at the last part and clicked on the next file.

Hair: Brown with black underneath

Spirit World Info: Little spirit energy, Human. Mother is not known. Suspicion to be the child of her godmother, but that is unconfirmed.


There were a few pictures of the two, but not a lot. They were obviously not photogenic and the pictures were slightly blurred. Clicking the next file Kurama began to think to himself.

Age: N/A appears to be around his late twenties.

Eyes: Honey Brown

Height: 5’10’’

D.O.B: N/A

Occupation: Has a doctorate in veterinary. Has a degree in law and business. He is the head of security at the Nishimori Building, a computer programmer, and the third CEO. His shares of the company are split four ways. One share was given to himself, one to each of his children and the last to an unknown person/source.

Hometown: Tokyo

Reikai Info: This human is unusual, he shows no signs of Spirit Energy at all. In that sense we assume that he is about to die. But for sixteen years he has lived and taken care of his children in an amazing condition of health. It is unknown how he is surviving but suspiciously enough, he has. The mother of his children is not known and assuming to be a kept secret amongst the CEO’s of the company. There is also no clear picture of him. His pictures are either blurred beyond recognition or he is facing away from the camera.

Other interesting facts: He has been seen with Hagiri Kaname, and his fiancée Angel. He is friends with Atogi and his secretary Jaxxia. He has also been sight with: Kagura and Kanna Yamase and Jinenji Honzou. He seems to have connections to all of them. Anything else remains a mysterious.


Kurama put a finger to his lips. Very prestigious friends, very prestigious indeed….Kurama thought. He wanted to find out more about this Yoshi Utada. According to Reikai, he was a total mystery. As a kitsune, Kurama felt the urge that he needed to solve this mystery.

Bankotsu blinked. He was to retrieve Yusuke for the meeting with the merging company. When he had walked into the former detective’s office, he found a quite a sight. Kirara was curled up; awake, on the man’s chest as he lay asleep on his couch. Bankotsu found it peculiar that the nekomata had an interest in Yusuke, she was after all entrusted to Kagome by Sango. Kagome soon explained to him that Kirara seems to have a special attachment to Yusuke and she let Kirara stay with him.

The mercenary shivered as he saw that Kirara had her eyes on him once he stepped into the room. Her eyes seemed to glow as they followed his movements. Watching…protecting the man that she currently upon. “Hey Kirara…I need to wake Yusuke now…”

The neko hissed at Bankotsu and bristled in preparation to fight.

Bankotsu frowned. He didn’t want to hurt the small animal, just wake up Yusuke. Yet he didn’t know how he was going to get around her. Luckily, he didn’t have to.

Yusuke put a hand on Kirara’s head and calmed her instantly. “It is alright Kirara…I’m up already.” The neko meowed and jumped to the arm of the couch as Yusuke sat up. Bankotsu’s frowned deepened as he looked at Yusuke. The man looked dead…like he hasn’t slept in a decade. “So what do you want Bankotsu?”

“Oh…right…Sesshomaru wants you.” The mercenary said.

“I know this…what does he want today?” Yusuke replied joking. He reached out and pet Kirara. She purred under the attention pushing her head up toward his hand.

“The detectives are here…he wants you to be there.” Bankotsu said. “Sesshomaru said to escort you to the conference room.”

“Escort me? I’ll show him…” Yusuke murmured as he stood. Bankotsu laughed.
“I can’t wait to see the day.” He waited till Yusuke made sure his scarred eye was covered. “Are you ready?”

“Yea, yea…come on Kirara.” The small nekomata jumped from the arm rest and raced to Yusuke. She jumped up and climbed up to his shoulder as he began to walk out. Bankotsu followed him.

Not too long after, Yusuke found himself before the door leading into the conference room. He pulled out his glasses and put them on as he reached out to open the door. Bankotsu nodded and walked off, leaving Yusuke to enter the room with Kirara.

Inside the room, Angel was having a drink beside Sesshomaru with a smile. Yusuke raised an eyebrow at her. She coughed and shook her head slightly.

“Ah, Mr. Utada…so glad you could join us on this unexpected meeting.” Kuwabara said reaching out to shake his hand. Yusuke stared down at it and just nodded before taking his place beside Sesshomaru. “Yes…well…”

“Why wasn’t I informed of this meeting?” Yusuke asked his eyes on Sesshomaru.

“I can answer that…” Angel said as she pulled her drink away from her lips. “I saw you sleeping in your office so I decided not to disturb you!” She smiled at him. “Didn’t think you would mind.”

Yusuke glared at her. Kirara growled from his shoulder. Shaking his head Yusuke turned slightly to Kuwabara and the two demons before him. His eye traveled back to Sesshomaru with an accusing look.

“Do you have a problem with that Yoshi?” Sesshomaru asked coldly. His eyes piercing through the young toushin as Yusuke looked at him.

“No Sho-sama, not at all…” He replied turning his head away from the trio before him. Angel looked at Yusuke with concerned looked. She hoped he wouldn’t mind this meeting is about.

“Now, we shall begin.” Sesshomaru said.

Kurama watched Mr. Yoshi Utada with a sharp eye. He seemed very cautious about showing his hidden eye. He wondered what was under that patch of hair. He barely sensed the man’s energy let alone any emotion on his face. What was mysterious behind this man? Kurama needed to know.

Soon all turned quiet as Yoshi and Sho were going through papers with Angel just sitting there happily. Kurama jumped when Yoshi addressed him without looking up.

“Minamino-san, if you continue to stare at me like that someone might get the wrong idea.” He said with a turn of the paper. This got Hiei’s and Kuwabara’s attention.

“Gomen Utada-san…but it seemed that you are terribly cautious of your eye. I am a curious person by nature…and wondered why?” Kurama asked leaning on his left hand.

Yoshi’s hand twitched against the paper causing him to drop the page. He put the other hand over it and began to massage it. The cat he had walked in with jumped to his hands pushed the one away with her head. Kurama watched in interest as the little kitten then sank her teeth into the twitching hand.

Kuwabara spoke, “Is it normal for that animal to bite into your hand?” Yoshi smiled.

“Kirara is just gnawing on the nerve located there. It relaxes the hand and muscle. Somewhat like a massage…” He replied. “Would you like a demonstration?” The three CEOs just looked at him. Yoshi looked at Kirara and smiled. “Go on Kirara, you choose.” He nodded his head toward the trio.

“Don’t bite their hand off!” Angel giggled as the little kitten made her way to Kuwabara and sniffed his hand.

“Really Mr. Utada, do you expect the cat to be smart enough to do some cheap parlor trick…” Hiei said with spite. He watched as Kirara sniffed Kurama’s hand then move on to Hiei’s. She sniffed his hand and immediately bit into gnawing in gently way.

“Seems you are the most stressed Hiei,” Kurama said with a smile. Hiei growled as he tried to swipe at Kirara only to have her jump away with a kitten-like laugh. She ran back to Yoshi and turned toward them. She laid on her forepaws with her back end in the air, her tail swishing side to side as she playfully mewed.

Yoshi chuckled. “Right then, enough entertainment eh Sho?” Sho nodded. Kirara pouted and stood up. She jumped into Yoshi’s arm and walked up to his shoulder. She moved under his hair and laid her head on his cheek just below his scarred eye. “Let’s finish this…”

An hour later, Angel got fed up with the men not deciding on something so she decided to do something.

“So…are you guys ready to settle this merger or am I going to have to bring in the big girls to do it.” Angel said.

“What girls?” Sesshomaru asked raising an eyebrow. Angel grinned and crossed her legs on top of the table, hitting a button on the intercom machine.

“These girls...” Angel said as the door open. “I’m sure you’ll recognize them. After all Sho, you aren’t the only ones with smart women on your force.”

Kurama, Hiei, and Kuwabara turned around to see Kagome walk in with a smile. She walked over to Yusuke and stood between him and Sesshomaru. “I’m Higurashi Kagome, pleasure to meet you.” She bowed with her formal reply.

Then a woman with short red hair and sapphire eyes walk in. She was wearing a knee length skirt and a nice maroon blouse. She bowed to the men then walked to stand beside Angel. “I’m known as Jaxxia, I work with Atogi enterprises.” She smiled. “I lend a hand to Angel once in a while.”

The next to ladies that walked in cause Yusuke’s eye to widened in shock. Kurama, Hiei, and Kuwabara stood up to greet them. Kuwabara’s sister, Shizuru, and an elderly woman known as Genkai walked in.

“What are you two doing here?” Kuwabara asked.

“Well, we got a call from a Hakuya Higurashi.” Both Yusuke and Kagome put hands to their foreheads. “She said that you summoned us to this building to help with his business.”

“Angel, you wouldn’t have happened to convince Hakuya to do this for you?” Kagome asked glaring over at her.

“Not me…” Angel smiled. Yusuke stayed silent as he turned his eyes to Genkai’s. The old woman stared back at Yusuke with a small smile. Yusuke nodded slightly and turned his gaze onto Shizuru. She turned and looked at the heads of the Nishomori Company.

“So these are the bigwigs?” Shizuru asked. “Well, two guys and a lady…very male dominated.”

“Same goes for your friend’s company…no women in sight.” Kagome retaliated. Shizuru snorted and glared at Kagome. Yusuke put his arm around Kagome’s waist and pulled her closer to him as he stared at Shizuru.

“Are you gals going finish this for us or what?” Yusuke asked closing his eyes. Kirara crept out from Yusuke’s hair and climbed down into his lap. She snuggled into his stomach purring.

“Fine…ladies, you’ve all seen the contract. And Kagome you know how Yoshi and Sho won’t listen to me. So I ask you guys…what shall we do?” Angel said as she put her legs down and leaned on the table.

“Men are so stubborn…” Kagome murmured as she ran her hand through Yusuke’s hair.

“Thanks for the comment Kagome…but how does that help us?” Sho asked crossing his arms.

“Well first off, Nefertiri and Susa don’t need full access to their computers over there. They have it here. All they would need is passes to allow them into the building and to the levels that Yoshi and Angel will be stationed at.” Kagome said. “I know Sho wants the children to be able to do what they need too but that’s a little too much too early.”

“Fine…” Sesshomaru said after a while. Yusuke just nodded. Both knowing they won’t be able to change Kagome’s mind.

“Alright then, how about you?” Angel turned to Shizuru and Genkai.

“Our requests were the same.” Shizuru said.

“These boys don’t need their request except one. Perhaps to have one of the CEOs do a daily check up on their systems and Intel. Maybe even have a permanent stay there.” Genkai said. “This deal is a merger, you both have nothing to gain from the other because you basically have everything the other has.”

“Well, I agree to whatever the ladies decide…” Yusuke said standing up. He let go of Kagome and headed for the door. “I have other business to take care of now if you’ll excuse me.” Yusuke exited the room with Kirara trailing behind him.

“I’m guessing there is more than that?” Jaxxia asked. Kagome sighed and sat down in Yusuke seat.

“Much…” Kurama replied with a soft smile.

As the others discussed, Yusuke was with Kirara heading to his office. His shift was over and he was free for a while. He ran a hand through his hair.

“Yu-chan!” Someone called. Yusuke turned to see a tall woman run up to him. Well…feminine man you should say. The man clung to Yusuke’s arm with a smile. He wore a long coat with fur at the collar. Underneath was a long white tunic with a three button black sweater over it (1).

“Jakotsu? What are you doing here?” Yusuke asked. Kirara glanced back, but continued her way to Yusuke’s office.

“Well, I was out going to visit Bankotsu when I saw you come out of the lion’s den.” He said with a giggle.

“Yea…” Yusuke sighed. “I’m not up for this business crap…I should of stayed with the vet.”

Jakotsu frowned. “The vet wasn’t making enough money for you…you said that yourself when you first got a job here.”

“Where are the children?” Yusuke asked changing the subject.

“Susa is with Hakuya playing in the park while Nefertiri is back at school helping decorate for the dance.” Jakotsu replied. He watched Yusuke with keen black eyes. Leaning toward Yusuke Jakotsu smiled. “You know if you get tired of the dog, my door is always open.”

Yusuke backed away into the wall and blinked at Jakotsu. The feminine male smiled. “Thanks for the offer…I’ll be sure to keep that in mind.”

“Jakotsu! Back away from Yoshi right now!” A female voice said sternly. Both males turned to see everyone out of the conference room. Jakotsu stood up away from Yusuke innocently looking at them. Kagome glared at Jakotsu crossing her arms.

“I wasn’t doing anything wrong…” He said. “Just having a talk…”

“At the expense of Utada-san…” Jaxxia said with a huff.

“I’m fine…” Yusuke said as he turned his head away from everyone. Sesshomaru frowned visible and walked over to Jakotsu and Yusuke. He grabbed Yusuke’s arm causing the younger man to look at him.

Angel sighed and put a hand to her forehead. “Jakotsu go find your brother…” Jakotsu huffed and nodded leaving them alone.

“I swear I’m gonna give him a talking to…” Angel said. “Him and his brother…”
“Wait that was a he?” Shizuru asked. Jaxxia and Angel chuckled at that and glanced at Yusuke. Sesshomaru was still holding his arm staring down at him.

“I’m fine Fluffy…” Yusuke said sternly.

“I’ll believe that when you stop getting in trouble.” Sesshomaru said to Yusuke. The younger man narrowed his eyes dangerously.

“Are you accusing me of bringing danger to those around me?” Yusuke growled.

“You’re slipping Utada…” Sesshomaru said huskily as he leaned into Yusuke, whose eyes widened slightly.
