Hiei lay in the bathtub, letting the warm water relax his aching muscles. It had been a hard week, crawling and climbing in small areas. Wiring the building, its construction was supposed to be completed in a few months. He didn't really feel like going out. He had been going to the club to look for Kurama but there was always that same limousine picking him up. He figured it out, the limousine always picked him up at nine and dropped him off by midnight.
He was curious to know. He felt somewhat hurt the last Saturday when he went to look for him. He really wanted to be with him, but for some reason now he felt shy. No, not shy but embarrassed. He couldn't explain it but that's how he felt. Hiei slowly got out of the tub and wrapped himself with a towel. He really wanted the red head badly.
" Kurama " He whispered to himself.
To tired to do much else, he put on a pair black boxers and went to bed.
Kurama looked at the clock in the car, midnight. He was dropped off where he was pick up from. He really dislikes that guy, but wow close to five grand in one week. He had enough to hire a nurse for his mother, her medication needed to be refilled, and he needed to buy more books. He walked back home not wanting to bother Botan. The wind became chillier since fall was turning into winter. He wrapped his jacket around him tighter. He really needed to buy a new one. Maybe now he should.
He walked slowly and looked up at the stars. Kurama sighed. He was tired of everything. If he could, he'd just send everything to hell. But he couldn't He just couldn't. He walked and walked. He guessed it might have been at least two hours when he finally reached his apartment. He quietly stepped in and walked to his bedroom, quickly took off his clothes and headed for the bathroom. Inside he looked at himself in the mirror.
There were slight bruises on his thigh from the hard gripping. His back was slightly scratched. He sighed and quickly took a shower. No matter how many times he tried to scrub and wash, he could never wash away the guilt he felt. He changed and went to sleep hoping morning would take its time in coming.
Hiei woke up late. The birds were chirping and the sun shone brightly trough his window. The light bothered his eyes. He pulled the blanket over his head and groaned. He tried to fall asleep again but it was useless. With much reluctance Hiei finally got up. He walked toward the bathroom as he stretched. As he walked his back popped twice. He sighed feeling slightly better.
Another Saturday, except this one didn't include shopping. He could spend the day alone doing nothing, but watch T.V., eat and do whatever the hell he felt. Around noon he was bored. He saw the book sitting on the coffee table. Something over came him and he immediately picked it up. He grabbed his keys and headed outside. Unlocked the car and drove out to the library at high speed. He had the luck of never running into cops. but he knew someday that luck would run out, so he slowed down.
Once he arrived at the library he quickly walked in to check his book and quickly headed for the fourth floor. Maybe, just maybe he would be there. As the elevator door opened he quickly walked in not even looking up. He collided into someone and fell on the person. He blinked and blinked as he realized his face was inches... No just mere centimeters away from.... from ....the red head's.
Kurama gulped as he felt his heart beat faster. His mind wouldn't let his body react. The strong fragrance of him filled his nostrils. Finally Hiei making his mind work, stood up and helped the red head up.
" I'm sorry." Hiei apologized
"No, its okay." Kurama breathed somewhat heavily.
He was blushing as red as the color of his hair. Both stood there not moving. Finally Kurama cleared his throat.
" I-I-I got to go."
Hiei nodded dumbly and moved aside. Kurama quickly checked his book out, wanting to get far away from him; the one person he (for some unknown reason) enjoyed being with. Even if they didn't know each other it was the feeling he got and it felt good.
Hiei just stood there and finally snapped out of it. He walked back to the reception desk just as he saw Kurama leaving the building. He quickened his pace almost to the point of running. He reached outside and saw Kurama walking away fast. Hiei sprinted fast just like he was doing the 100 meter dash, he missed track it was fun. He quickly reached the red head.
Kurama was startled by the stomping of feet next to him. He froze when he realized it was Hiei.
" Hey. Sorry to scare you."
Kurama was surprised that he wasn't winded. Not even a bit.
" It's okay. Like I said before." Kurama continued walking.
" Hey, wait up!" Hiei walked beside him not wanting this opportunity to pass.
Kurama slowed down he didn't want to be rude.
" Do you need a ride somewhere?"He asked hopefully.
"No, no thanks."
" Are you sure?" Hiei insisted
" I'm sure. Thank you." Kurama continued walking and left Hiei standing there.
" He's stalking... this encounter was no coincidence. He was looking for me I know." Kurama spoke with Himself as he caught his breath and his heartbeat went back to Normal.
He walked toward the bus stop. He really wanted to get home soon. He had to check on mother since she started to walk. But she needed supervision. Now that she had this bit of freedom she started to move when no one was around. Always saying that she didn't need help.
It was too early for her to be on her own, even if it was just at home.
Hiei drove back home feeling disappointed that the red head had avoided him. He chuckled a bit at the nick name he'd secretly given Kurama. "Red head" His hair was so bright red that it looked like it wasn't natural. As he approached his house he saw Yusuke, Kuwabara, Botan and Koenma, (his boss) waiting outside his home.
"No." Hiei said in an annoyed mutter. He knew what they wanted. He could clearly see that he was supposed to do some odd job through the next three Saturdays. He was so tempted to change gears in reverse and high tail it out of there. He thought about it but it was too late. He had already entered his home.
" Hey shrimp!" Yusuke called out as he opened Hiei's door.
Hiei, still angry about the prank pulled his door back shut. Yusuke tumbled and fell forward. Then Hiei opened his door and hit Yusuke in the face. Yusuke was on the ground covering his nose.
" Hey." Hiei said as he stepped out if his car and walked over Yusuke.
Botan winced when Yusuke's face had been slammed. Kuwabara just closed his eyes in pain and hissed, mostly at the thought of Hiei being his brother-in-law.
" Well... now that we have greeted each other, lets go inside. Hiei I will give you your assignments." Koenma said not amused or touched by what just happened.
" Bye Hiei." Everyone said as they left.
Their meeting had lasted about five hours. Yusuke had to leave earlier because his nose wouldn't stop bleeding. He waved them all good bye and quickly ran away.
Hiei had two hours until he'd head over to the club. He ran to his bedroom and looked under the bed where he had a box of money. Every paycheck he always saved at least 150 dollars and then the rest he used to pay bills and buy food and other stuff. He saved this money for emergencies and today was one. He smiled and got ready.
Kurama followed a similar routine. He said good bye to his mother and walked towards the club. He sighed, more tired than ever. He couldn't stop yawning, Which was driving him nuts. He parked himself across the street from the club. people waiting outside covered him well and he still had a good view.
Kurama hadn't arrived yet. So to pass the time Hiei turned on his stereo and inserted a Red-hot chili pepper C.D. He was head banging in his car for a least fifteen minutes when he saw the red head arrive.
He smiled. He might have been turned down in the daytime but nighttime is a whole other story. As Hiei was about to get out of the car he saw the same black limousine approaching.
"Oh fuck no!" He sighed.
Jumping back in his car and revving the engine getting people to move. He quickly did a U turn and was parked right in front of Kurama. He rolled down his window.
Kurama was surprised at the screeching of tires that skid in front of him. He was more surprised to see Hiei smiling at him.
"Get in." Ordered Hiei.
Kurama looked around and he saw the approaching limousine and immediately got in. Hiei sped off really fast getting away from the area rapidly.
" What the fuck just happened?" The man from the limousine asked his partner.
" How the hell should I know? The boss is going to be angry?"
" Yeah you call him and tell him."
" Fuck no! You call!"
" No you!"
" Ready?!" They both said.
" Paper Rock Scissor !" The driver won.
" Damn you're fucking lucky Gouki!"
" Yeah now call the boss Bui."
" Damn!" Muttered Bui.
He dialed the numbers on his cell and waited for the other line to be answer.
" Hello." Karasu answered
" Boss... we have a problem."
Karasu gritted his teeth in the annoyance of his guards.
" What?" He asked.
" Kurama is not here. He left with someone else."
" WHAT!!!?" Karasu screamed.
" Some other car came by and picked him up."
" Why didn't you follow!?" Karasu screamed.
He couldn't believe his precious Kurama wasn't coming tonight.
" One.. boss we're not in the right car to follow and-" Bui was cut off.
" Shut up! shut up this better not happen again understood?"
"Hai boss."
"Good now get back over here!"
The line was cut.
" Damn! Whoever took my puppet is going to pay!" Karasu told himself.
"I think there's something wrong with you." Kurama said though he was glad that he wasn't going to see Karasu tonight.
" Why?" Hiei stepped on the brakes and stopped in the middle of the street. Kurama sighed when he saw no approaching cars.
" Keep driving. It's dangerous to stop like this in the middle of the freeway."
" I'll drive, once you tell me why I'm crazy." Hiei said stubbornly
" I never said that. " Retaliated Kurama
" Fine." Hiei started to drive again but slower. After a few minutes of silence Hiei spoke.
"You know those bags under your eyes don't belong there."
"Yeah well... I've learned how to live with the amount of sleep I get." Kurama explained.
All the while he was leaning his head on the cold window and closing his eyes. He was extremely tired and he wished he could rest and catch up on much needed sleep.
Hiei looked at the red head. He was falling asleep. Before, Hiei thought he only cared about his sister. He didn't know why he cared about him.
He sighed maybe he had developed some sort of feelings.
" Kurama." He called.
No answer.
" Kurama." He called again.
No answer.
" Oh well." He shrugged and kept on driving towards his home.
Kurama opened his eyes and noticed that he wasn't leaning on the window anymore. He didn't mean to have fallen asleep. He sat up, trying to figure out where he was. He was surprised to find Hiei asleep beside him. He was snoring lightly. He lay down again running his finger though his hair.
*Why didn't he wake me up?*
*Why didn't he wake me up to...*
*I thought that's why he picked me up.*
He turned to lie on his stomach. Kurama smiled.
*Oh well maybe now I could catch up on much needed sleep.*
The birds were chirping loudly and the sun shone bright, illuminating the room. Hiei groaned and turned to side trying to hide from the sun. He was a bit surprised when he felt something soft and warm beside him. Then the things he did yesterday flooded his memory. He sat up and stared at a long time at the red head laying beside him. He was so beautiful. He stoked his cheek lightly his skin so soft.
Hiei lowered himself and kissed him lightly on the lips. His lips were warm and soft. No he couldn't be a common prostitute. He must have a good reason to do what he does. Kurama stirred a bit but didn't waken.
"Sleep... You need it a lot." Whispered Hiei as he got up and headed downstairs.
Kurama stirred tossed and turned and finally remembering where he was, he sat up with a jerk. He looked at the watch next to night-stand.
10:00 o'clock.
He quickly stood up and found his jacket in the lazy boy by the window. He quickly descended the stairs. He was almost out of the house when he was pulled back and the door shut behind him. Before he knew it he was pinned against the door.
" Where you going?" Asked Hiei.
He was surprised to see Kurama rushing to leave.
" I got to go home. It's late I was supposed to be home earlier." Kurama explained while trying to get free.
" Well I'll take you home."
"No, you don't have to." Kurama pleaded.
" Well, tough luck." Hiei replied letting Kurama go. Kurama stopped struggling and calmed down.
" Geez why are you in a hurry I don't bite you know?" Hiei stated as he retrieved his jacket and his keys from the couch.
"Come on..." And with that, Hiei exited the house and waited for Kurama to follow.
Kurama followed with a sigh. He knew no matter how much he tried to avoid it, Hiei was going to try to get to know him better.
"Can I ask you something?" Kurama asked, trying to break the silence.
"Sure"
" Why are you so interested in me?" Kurama really was curious to know.
Hiei was silent for a moment then spoke.
"I like you." He simply stated.
" Why? Is it just sex you want?"
Hiei quickly slammed on the breaks and move to the side of the highway. Both flew forward and then recoiled back because of the seat belts. Kurama rubbed his chest where the seat belt had pulled against him. He turned to see Hiei and was afraid he hit a soft spot. Hiei's his eyes were full of anger and yet they were so hypnotizing Kurama couldn't turn away.
"Is that what you think of me?"
Kurama couldn't speak. His breath got caught in his throat. he couldn't move.
" Well is it?" Urged Hiei anger and frustration filled his voice.
Kurama finally turned away and muttered, " I don't know."
Hiei grabbed Kurama's chin and turned his face to him. He crushed his lips against his and kissed him long and hard.
Hiei released Kurama after a minute or so. Both were breathing hard.
" You answer me this. Why didn't I wake you up yesterday? Why did I just pick you up and take you to my home. and didn't do anything? Plus I still paid you for the night you know? Check your pockets."
Kurama did so and found neatly folded, eight hundred dollar bills.
" You feel sorry for me." Kurama simply stated.
He had made someone feel sorry for him.
"No, I don't feel sorry for no one. But you I can see it in your eyes. The pain, the suffering you've been through. You're no ordinary person. Just because you do what you do doesn't mean you should not be treated like a human. We are not perfect and not every one has an easy life. I know this because I've been through some shit too. Maybe not like what your doing but I've suffered. Maybe you won't believe, and I don't care if you don't, but you made me realize how pathetically lonely I am... I mean even if that one night was just what happened. I saw you again and I couldn't stop thinking about you. Last night I slept peacefully. I want to wake up next to someone. I want to be with someone."
Hiei closed his eyes trying to calm himself.
"Are you sure I'm not an infatuation?"
"If you were then I would have fucked you senseless last night."
They both sat there quietly for a few long minutes.
"I better get you home. I hope you rested well. The bags under your eyes are disappearing a bit."
"Yeah thanks I needed rest."
Hiei started the car and drove Kurama home no one made a comment the rest of the way.
"Thanks" Said Kurama as he shut the door.
Hiei waved good bye. He was about to leave when he saw a familiar blue haired girl come out and greet Kurama.
" Kurama where were you? I was worried I thought-" She stopped half way through her sentence.
Kurama was surprised when Botan froze when she saw Hiei. Hiei exited the car.
"Hiei what are you doing here?" She asked astounded.
"I could ask the same thing." He replied.
"Wait you two know each other?" Asked Kurama, clearly surprised.
"Yeah he works in Koenma's company." Botan said
"Oh great." Kurama muttered.
