"Ok with whom did you last see him with?" Asked Karasu.

His puppet never showed up to his usual spot.

" A guy. About five one maybe. Black spiky hair white starburst in the middle. Drives a black Porsche." Bui Replied.

He'd gone the last few weeks to pick up Kurama, but he never showed up.

"Ugh fine" Karasu exhaled utterly frustrated he motioned for Bui to leave.

"You know, maybe he got paid more you know how prostitutes are; they go to the highest bidder."

"Maybe your right Sakyo" Karasu said as he poured himself a drink.

"So what are you going to do?" Asked Sakyo, curious to know what his partner was up to.

"I'll find him. And he is going to come back to me whether he likes it or not." Karasu vowed.

"You know if you make him come by force that's kidnapping and rape. I know what you do with him. I'll say this now. I don't want to be part of the stupidity your going to do." Sakyo warned.

"Fine by me just stay out of my way."

"With pleasure" Sakyo said as he took out a cigarette and light it up.

"You know I have a meeting today with the company who is going to build my next office." Sakyo informed.

"And?" Asked Karasu uninterested.

"I thought you might want to come your not doing anything." Sakyo offered.

"I guess I have nothing else to do."

"Hiei Jaganshi please report to Koenma's office." Botan's voice rang through the intercom.

Hiei secured his helmet and slid down on the rope that was holding him five stories above ground.

Once he reached the ground, he undid the harness and walked towards the trailer that was serving as Koenma's office for the moment. He took off his helmet and wiped the sweat on his fore head. Quickly the accumulated sweat on him started to dry and he felt cold in the office since the a/c was at full blast.

"Lucky bastard" He muttered.

"Hiei do you have the blueprints for this construction." Koenma asked he had looked and looked. He made quite a mess looking for the blueprints he had to show his client and he needed them now.

"Yeah I do they're outside" Hiei ran outside and retrieve them from this harness and ran back in.

"Thank you, you may go back to your task." Koenma reply.

"Hn" Hiei left he almost ran into someone when exited the trailer. Three men dressed in black suits were making there way towards the trailer. One of them kept on staring at him. He was taller than him for sure and he had gray hair. Hiei was about to tell him off when he heard Yusuke calling. Quickly he left.

"Boss" whispered Bui into Karasu's ear.

"What?" Hissed Karasu.

"That guy we almost ran into, he's the one who picked up Kurama last time."

"What?" Screamed Karasu.

Both Sakyo and Koenma looked at Karasu funny.

"Sorry." Karasu apologized before grabbing Bui by the arm and pulling him outside.

"Are you sure?"

"I'm sure. That guy drive like he has the devil at his heels" Bui assured him.

"Get Gouki to trail him later. When he leaves maybe he'll lead us to Kurama. And if he sees Kurama alone tell him to give him this." Karasu gave an envelope to Bui.

"All right"

Both re-entered the office.

"Hey Hiei what did Koenma want?" Asked Yusuke through the welding he was doing.

"Yeah did you get in trouble shrimp?" Called Kuwabara as he was descending down while Hiei was going up.

"You wish." Hiei replied as he passed Kuwabara and headed toward Yusuke.

"All right shorty, wire this place up so I can finish closing."

"Damn.. here we go again" Muttered Hiei as he pulled himself up and was ready to wire the upcoming floor.

Kurama quickly gathered his books and exited the classroom finally. Friday's class today was so boring. Why couldn't they teach him something he didn't know? He quickly picked up his things and left the building. He headed towards the bus stop.

He had already called home. His mother was fine she was doing better since Botan had started helping her. But he still needed to find someone for the weekdays. As for right now everything was fine. He had stopped going to his spot.

He stopped going to Karasu's appointments. And he really enjoyed the time he had now, maybe his income was lower but had enough money saved for his mother and what he got from his day job was enough for him.

He was anxious to get home. Botan would arrive and so would Hiei. He would drop her off and she'd pick up her car from his place and then leave or stay and Hiei was nice enough to help him out. He tried telling him no but Hiei was very stubborn. He was surprised he didn't ask for anything in return. Except Hiei wanted him to spend one night at his place. Hiei had a thing that he didn't like sleeping alone.

Kurama smiled. he liked to think of it as if they were dating. He was positive this was a phase for Hiei. And that sooner or later he was going to dump him. So Kurama decided not to get too attached. But it was hard. Bit by bit he felt more attached to Hiei.

He arrived at the store, punched in his card, picked up his list, and started stocking the merchandise.

A loud bell rang over the construction site. Every man and woman in the site put their equipment away. turned off the main system and headed to sign out.

Botan was getting ready to leave when Koenma stopped her.

"Should I be worried that you're hanging around Hiei too much?" Asked Koenma as he brought her close to him.

"No, you shouldn't. It just so happens he is a very good friend with my best friend Kurama." She said as she kissed him lightly, she thought it was funny when he got jealous.

"I just though-" She placed a finger on his lips silencing him.

"You think too much relax."

He nodded and let her go.

"I'll see you later" She said as she opened the door to leave.

"Hai, later"

Hiei took off his boots and placed them in the trunk of the car. He hated driving his Porsche to work. He had to buy another car, but for the meantime oh well. Botan came out humming happily.

"I wonder why you are so happy. What do you do in there when no one is around?" Hiei teased.

"Shut up" Botan said, threatening to smack Hiei with her purse.

"I'm kidding" Replied Hiei.

He got in his car and waited for Botan, before he pulled out of the parking lot and left everyone behind him in dust.

Gouki was waiting patiently for Hiei to exit the parking but he didn't expect him to zoom out of there. He had a hard time trying to keep up with him and still not be notice.

"Hiei you know you could... eep!!!!!" Shrieked Botan as Hiei cut of a huge eighteen wheeler and kept on driving while being flipped off.

"It's been close to three weeks and you still haven't got used to my driving Kurama just stays quiet during the whole thing. He only hates me stopping in the middle of the road or slamming on the breaks."

"Yeah well you drive like a maniac" She replied and closed her eyes when he crossed from the far lane towards the exit. Many angry drivers beeped at them.

When they arrived at Kurama's apartment. Botan quickly got out and breathed slowly in and out thankful, she was alive.

"You want to come in?" She asked.

"I don't know. I've never been in. And Kurama never invited me in." Hiei said as he scratched the back of his head.

"Come on you could meet his mom." Urged Botan.

"All right"

Hiei got out and went to his trunk. He dusted his boots and put them on again. The apartment was very quiet. Botan walked through the hall and came by a closed door. She knocked on it lightly.

"Come in." Was the reply from inside.

They both stepped inside.

"Evening Shiori" Said Botan.

"Evening." Shiori replied.

" I've brought a friend. He's Kurama I mean Suichi's friend too" Botan said as she checked the older woman's blood pressure and went to pick up the empty cups around her.

"It's okay Botan. I know you call Suichi by his other name." She then turned to Hiei.

"Nice to meat you I'm Shiori Minamono."

" I'm Hiei Jaganshi nice to meet you." Hiei introduced himself.

"I'll go make dinner" Said Botan. And then she left Hiei and Shiori alone.

"Please sit. You look exhausted." She said motioning for Hiei to sit in the chair next to her.

"Yeah I just got out from work." Hiei said as he sat down by the woman.

"What do you do?" She asked happy to have other people visit. It was nice to see new faces.

" I'm an electrical engineer."

"How nice, Suichi is studying to be a biologist."

Hiei nodded.

Shiori tried to sit up, but her arm buckled under her.

"Here let me help." Hiei said as he helped her sit up with ease.

"Thank you. How I wish I wasn't a burden to anyone."

" Please don't say that. You're no such thing." Hiei said not wanting to hear any one feel sorry for themselves. They both heard a door shut.

"Suichi is home" Shiori exclaimed.

"Would you like to go greet him?" Asked Hiei. Shiori's eyes sparkled.

Hiei took that as a yes. He gently helped the woman sit up. Her legs dangles at the side of the bed. He took her arm and wrapped it around his neck. And easily helped her to her feet. Slowly she walked towards the door.

"Hey Botan" Kurama greeted as he stepped in. He smelled the aroma of hot tomato sauce and ground beef being cooked.

"Hey how was your day?" She asked making small talk. She was glad he no longer left at night to do what he did.

"Fine. Yours?"

"Fine except for the heart attack I almost had as Hiei brought me over." She replied.

"Don't exaggerate. You know that was my easy driving." Hiei said as he came into the kitchen. Kurama froze when he heard Hiei. He thought Hiei was somewhere else. Not inside his home. Much less coming from the direction of his mother's room.

"Evening Suichi." Shiori called, walking slowly towards her son with the help from Hiei

Kurama turned around to see his mother walking towards him he quickly went to her side to offer his help, trying to relieve Hiei from the task.

"No don't." Said Hiei as he continued to help the woman.

Hiei helped her sit over by the dinner table.

"I've missed sitting here. Are we all going to eat here?"

"Sure" Exclaimed Botan

"Yeah" Said Hiei . Kurama nodded smiling.

After dinner, Botan said good bye, saying she'd be by tomorrow to check on Shiori.

Hiei said Good bye and left after telling Kurama that he didn't have to come.

"You know Suichi you should have gone with him I know you want to." She said knowing what her son wanted. she could clearly see it in his eyes.

"Mother I-" He tried to deny but his mother cut him off.

"You know when you stop denying things life is always much better. Go I'll be fine."

"Hai. Arigatou Kasaan." He said and kissed her fore head before running outside to catch up with Hiei.

He ran outside but Hiei was all ready out of the parking lot and driving away. AT the same time a white sedan parked in front of him. And he saw one of Karasu's guards.

"Gouki" Kurama hissed. He was ready to retaliate as he saw the guard get out of the car.

"Here." Gouki handed him an envelope

"He wants an answer now." Gouki added. ready to carry out his orders.

Kurama quickly opened the letter and read.

Why have you become so distant?

If you want more money I'll give it to you. But you know. I don't like to wait please accept Gouki and come. I'm waiting for you. You have no choice please come by good terms, I don't like using bad ones.

Kurama crumple the paper.

"Tell him my answer is no. And to leave me alone and tell him to find another puppet."

Hiei was out of the parking lot and was driving away when for some reason as he stopped at the red light, he turned around to see a white car by Kurama's apartment and from afar he could make out Kurama's figure outside talking with someone. Hiei turned again and saw the green light. Instead of going on ahead he did a U-turn his tires screeching as he speeded back.

Kurama turned around to see the black Porsche parked at the other side of the street. Immediately Hiei got out and ran towards him. Gouki got up, jumped into his car and screamed "you'll be sorry Kurama!!!" He then sped away.

Hiei sprinted fast across the street and cursed when the guy ran into the car and sped off. He had almost reached the guy.

He stood there watching the car leave then something in his mind clicked. He had saw that car at the site, and on the highway, and during the three-lane change. He though it was a coincidence and had ignored it.

"You okay?" He asked Kurama.

"I'm fine, I'm glad you came back" Kurama blurted out and hugged Hiei.

Hiei wrapped his arms around his waist and brought him closer. Kurama was on the verge of tears.

"It's okay" Hiei calmly said while running his fingers through Kurama's red locks.

"Look you want to go back in?"

"No... They don't know I live here, They just think it's this area. Better to leave, my mom will be okay."

Hiei nodded and led Kurama across the street and speeded the long way home. Just in case anyone followed him this time.

They both rode back quiet. Kurama was thinking on how he was going to get rid of Karasu. Hiei was trying to find the right way to tell Kurama that it was him who led them to his home.

Once home Hiei quickly went upstairs to take a shower and then soaked in the tub for a while.

Kurama hung his jacket on the coat hanger, placed his shoes on the entrance of the living room and slowly made his way upstairs.

Hiei quickly took his shower and then filled the tub with warm water. He lay down letting his muscles relax. Another week gone and here he was mending his aching muscles. He leaned back and closed his eyes as he relaxed.

Kurama made his way upstairs. He took off his pants and placed them on the lazy boy then walked towards the bathroom in his boxers. He entered and found Hiei lying in the tub.
