Chapter 5:
Of Gates and Golems
The group of five walked along quietly without saying much, but it wasn't all that long before they reached Maze Castle."Well...then...I guess its in we go..." Juu looked at it coldly, having the feeling of still being watched. He quickly shook it off, the time he would deal with them would come. They all walked up to the giant door, skulls tossed everywhere.
"Here goes nothing." Juu kicked the door, the walls banging open against the walls. The group walked in."Let us get this straight, Yuu-Baka. We're going through the Castle, killing the Beasts, bringing Suzaku's head to Koenma for proof, and then I'm hitting the streets. If I'm gone for too long the Yakuza will start looking for me, and they'll tear up every house in Japan looking for me. I've got a contract they sent me to fill out and if I don't kill him soon they'll think he took me captive, which will result in a group of them going to Italy, and then the biggest gang war this side of the Ying-Yang will erupt."
He growled and Yuusuke nodded."I understand..." Really, he didn't...but, that was besides the point.
Kurama sighed and they walked onwards. Juu shivered somewhat."I don't like the feeling of this hallway...Kurama...no...not at all...." He muttered slowly.
"Awww...is little girly man scared of the big-bad hallway?" Kuwabara mocked him in a babyish tone.
Juu turned to face him. He outstretched his hand and lunged forward. Even though he didn't pierce Kuwabara's skin, blood was drawn and was absorbed into Juu's body. Kuwabara's blood. He had been knocked down, and began standing up.
"What the hell was that? Freak!"
Juu licked the remaining blood off of his hand. "Kyuketsuki Tezawari." He smirked and licked the blood lingering on his lips. "You piss me off again and you'll get it again, only I won't hold back." He growled and the group began walking ever on.
"I think I see the end of this hallway, Kurama." Yuusuke stated. He was right, there was a bright light at the end of the hallway. They began running towards it, but as soon as they neared the end of the hallway, it began to rumble.
They looked up."The ceiling!" Kurama cried, and they tried to escape, but the ceiling came down upon them. Acting upon instinct, they raised their hands to hold it up, struggling under the weight.
Yuusuke grunted, and Juu turned to Hiei. "Hiei...see that switch over there? Flip it...now!!!" Juu growled.
Hiei nodded. He ran off and stood under the switch. Hiei reached up to the switch, and was about to pull it, when he paused. He turned to them, sneering. "Why should I save you...?"
Juu smirked and looked to them. "You're all gonna die." He whispered softly.
"Let me guess...seven days, right horror boy?" Yuusuke asked.
"No. Now." Juu grinned sadistically.Yuusuke's eyes widened with fear and turned his head to Hiei.
"Don't waste any time, Hiei! Pull the damn switch!"
"Why should I?"
"We're sacrificing our energy so we can hold it up without you, now pull the fucking switch!" Yuusuke tried ordering Hiei around. Well...it didn't work
.~Hiei, I admit toying with the Ningen is fun, but I do need my strength..I feel something here besides the Saint Beasts....~ Juu spoke to Hiei softly through telepathy.
Hiei nodded and pulled the switch softly. With a sudden 'ching' the ceiling rose again and the group walked out warily. How many more traps could be hidden in Maze Castle? Only time would tell. They walked down the next hallway until they reached a stone door.
Juu glared on it. "We don't have time for doors!" He stood there, his eyes blackening out then lighting back up again. The shadows came from the corners of the hallway and wrapped themselves around him. He began walking forward, straight towards the door. Yuusuke watched quietly, then looked to Kurama, "Why's he gonna walk into the wall?"
Kurama looked to Yuusuke, "Just watch." Juu walked up to the door and then walked through it, seemingly making no damage. He stopped on the other side, and with the snap of a finger, the door began to crumble, falling bits by bits, one narrowly missing Kuwabara's left foot, who jumped in surprise. They followed Juu in, and watched as the shadows disspelled themselves into the corners of this new chamber.
A big, booming laugh echoed from seemingly nowhere. Juu's eyes opened wide, and he whirled around to Kurama. "Behind you!"
But it wasn't soon enough, a long, thick object that seemed to be connected of many rocks, quickly knocked Kurama to the side as he tried to dodge, and then the long string of rocks came towards Juu. He smirked, and the tail continued to speed towards him. The next thing they knew, it was deflected, making a loud 'bang' as it hit against the wall. They all stood there, wondering what happened, when they noticed something was infront of Juu. An impenetrable wall of shadow. Or was it impenetrable?
The next thing any of them knew, the tail dissapeared into the wall and then appeared quickly below Juu. He dodged, but not before it caught his leg, causing a deep cut. He landed next to the group on one leg and kneeled down to watch the inevitable fight. Standing infront of them was some type of Golem, made completely out of rock. He nearly reached the ceiling of the giant chamber, and his tail came out of the wall and back to where it belonged, behind him.
Kurama stepped forward, frowning. He got ready to fight, and watched as the tail went into the ground. But he could never tell where it was going to come now could he? He watched the walls in front of him, above him, to his left, and to his right, along with the floor. There was one fatal wall he didn't check. As the golem made a loud "Hoom Hoom!" The tail came from behind Kurama, striking him square in the back.
He stumbled, and slowly stood up, reaching into his hair. He pulled out a red rose, and at the same time both Juu and Hiei smirked. "The Golem's doomed," Juu smirked.
"How so?" Yuusuke turned to him.
"Kurama's weapon," Juu whispered.
"What's he gonna do, beautify him to death?" Yuusuke laughed at his own pathetic joke.
"No, fool. Watch." Juu motioned to Kurama, who swung the rose gracefully, and as he did the petals fell around the room. The stem lengthed until it resembled that of a whip, and there were few spots on the whip where there were few thorns.
"Even the sweetest rose has it's thorns..." Juu smirked and grabbed a rose petal out of mid-air.
The golem charged at Kurama, who simply jumped over him and brought his whip upon it, "Rose Whip Lash!" With a long string of movements, the body of Genbu lay on the ground in peices. Kurama landed and smiled weakly, but it faded as he saw what was happened. The rocks melted into the ground, and in a matter of moments, Genbu fell from the ceiling, crashing to the ground, but landing on his feet. The resulting shake made all but Kurama and Hiei fall over.
Kurama looked to Genbu and frowned as he suddenly began detatching itself. Kurama's eyes widened and he jumped from rock to rock, dodging each of them. He looked to the reassembling Genbu, "Deattachment...very useful..." Kurama muttered, and as soon as he was assembled, Genbu shot himself back at Kurama.
He dodged them all, but noticed something this time. A glowing red stone. How interesting....But he didn't have the time to think. Genbu didn't give him long before he shot himself again, and this time Kurama landed towards the group.
"Are you mad?! This time he'll kill all of us!!" Yuusuke shouted.
"No he won't," Kurama held the Red Stone in his hand, and motioned to Genbu, who didn't reassemble correctly. His body parts were placed in the wrong areas, and it was quite interesting to look at. Kurama looked at him, throwing the red stone into the air, and with one final movement of the rose whip, the stone was shattered. It fell to the ground in two, and Genbu exploded. The rocks flew everywhere, and when the smoke cleared, the group looked around. Juu was nowhere to be seen.
~!~!~!~!~!~
Juu slowed down near the top of the staircase and walked outside, laughing."It's been a long time, guys." He smiled at the three figures infront of him.
One had short blue hair, with gray eyes boring into Juu. She was wearing simply an orange T-shirt and jeans, nothing special. Juu walked up to her first, reaching a hand up to move her hair out of her face. "Jenta...it's been so long." She slapped his hand away but he ignored it and moved on to the next one.
The next one was a male, a bit shorter then Juu. He had black spiky hair that was in a different style to Hiei's, and his blue eyes stared eternally into Juu. He wore a blue shirt with some jeans. "Well...Halo...I didn't think I'd see you again any time soon."
He walked to the last one, looking up at him."Sefiin...You're..." His eyes widened. "Mortal." Sefiin is wasn't heavily muscular, but he was definately a big guy-- unusually tall and slender, somewhere around six and a half feet. Sefiin was wearing a black breastplate edged with gold, underneath which he there was a forest-green leggings and shirt. His bony, tired face, framed by a thin sheet of rough black hair, did not render him an especially handsome man, but his deep amber eyes seem almost . . . too reflective . . .
