Yay! LOL. And it's only taken us a year to get there...*sweat drop*. I think some people might forget how short a time it's really been in story time, how new and strange everything still is for Kagome. Like you pointed out, this isn't a world in which one can just run to the market if they run out of something, and she's got so little farming experience she can't even tell a baby daikon from a weed. Fortunately, Inuyasha's had glimpses of her world, and he knows damn well how different it was, and how much she's got to learn, and fortunately also, Inuyasha - while for an entirely different reason - doesn't really have all that much experience with village life or farming, either. Now they can learn, together. Cue 'awwww' moment, LOL. Really lovely chapter, as always. And as always, I'm super looking forward to seeing what happens next. :-) | Reviewed By: SplendentGoddess [MediaMiner Member] On: December 06, 2012 09:18 PST Rating(s):Enjoyment Factor: 10 of 10 Overall Rating: 10 of 10 Comment/Review: Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...kawaii! Really loved this chapter. You do such a good job of making your lemons completely clean, and yet completely nasty at the same time, LOL. Knew there were pickles in that jar all along, though I must admit even I momentarily forgot about the jar's existence, LOL. This was a really, really sweet chapter, and I think the way you ended it on that bit of a chuckle was absolutely perfect. Wow, three whole pieces, LOL, but yeah, knowing Inuyasha's obsession with them that is high praise. I'm glad he's found something else to obsess over, food wise, since he can't have any of Kagome's old 'ninja food' any longer. Of course, he never really obsessed over ramen as much in the canon as people have warped it in fanfics, but if memory serves the canon Inuyasha did have quite a liking for 'dried potatoes' aka potato chips. No way Kagome can make those for him, but if she learns how to make pickles I think he'll love her forever for it, LOL. Not that he won't already love her forever, but you know what I mean! So all in all, nicely done! As always. And as always I'm eagerly waiting to see what happens next. :-) | Reviewed By: SplendentGoddess [MediaMiner Member] On: December 04, 2012 18:57 PST Rating(s):Enjoyment Factor: 10 of 10 Overall Rating: 10 of 10 Comment/Review: I wish I had a secret little hot spring retreat to go to like that, even if getting to it was a colossal pain in the butt. Yay for Kagome starting the fire all by herself! And yay for your one year anniversary writing this lovely continual! Dang...one whole year of 'real life' time for under two weeks of story time, LOL. | Reviewed By: SplendentGoddess [MediaMiner Member] On: November 29, 2012 11:06 PST Rating(s):Enjoyment Factor: 10 of 10 Overall Rating: 10 of 10 Comment/Review: Wonderful update, as always. Nice to see some concentrated, Inu/Kag moments. Figures that a stupid oni would show up and ruin their peaceful moment, though on the other hand I get the feeling Inuyasha enjoyed being able to kill something, LOL. And I loved the way he complimented Kagome, thanking her for her assistance, and just generally acting like a more mature version of his old self, just going to prove how much time has really changed and how much he and Kagome have both grown since the old days. I liked the teasing at the end there, and the talk about how he wouldn't have minded bathing with her back then, though they both agree nothing really could have happened back then, and that it was a good thing it hadn't. Cute, though, that Kagome admitted to having daydreamed about it, and Inuyasha too, in not so many words. Looking forward to hearing what he has to say once they get to the hot spring! LOL. Good job, as always. :-) | Reviewed By: SplendentGoddess [MediaMiner Member] On: November 27, 2012 13:52 PST Rating(s):Enjoyment Factor: 10 of 10 Overall Rating: 10 of 10 Comment/Review: Excellent update! After everything that's happened in such short order I'd want to get the hell out of there for a while, too. I can understand Kagome's momentary panic, from the way he'd phrased things, but yeah, he knows it's a good thing, what they have in the village, and he doesn't want to lose it, but all the same he just needs to get some fresh air and get the hell out of dodge for a while. I love how he asked her to go with him, basically saying that he was going to go for a run either way, but how he admitted to wanting her with him...he wants to get the hell away from everything except her. And something tells me Kagome needs it just as much as he does. Just go for a run and burn up some of that energy he wasn't allowed to use kicking Aki, LOL. Looking forward to the next chapter! | Reviewed By: SplendentGoddess [MediaMiner Member] On: November 22, 2012 13:17 PST Rating(s):Enjoyment Factor: 10 of 10 Overall Rating: 10 of 10 Comment/Review: So Haname still thinks Inuyasha's really the one who killed Kikyou? I know they all believed it, at first, but surely Kaede must have told a few people, at the very least Tameo who then told everyone else, as soon as the truth was learned. After all, he couldn't very well be openly accepted to live within their borders if he truly were such a murderer. And while I can see how someone might think that ultimately Naraku can be blamed on them, probably mostly on Kagome since she's the one who brought the jewel back into their world, it's not as if they really sent Naraku to attack the village, and they did all almost lose their lives fighting him. Surely Haname knows they were all combating Naraku, but just figured that him being there was their fault in the first place, their bad luck that cursed the village because if it weren't for them, then Naraku wouldn't have bothered them. Aki then takes the words to mean that they are monsters who wanted Naraku to attack the village, not even knowing that they risked their lives to save it and everyone. Sorry about his cat...that part kind of sucks and helps to explain where so much of his hatred is coming from, too. REALLY good update! Knew it was only a matter of time before Aki tried to get away. Something (or someone) has got to pound some sense into that boy before it's too late. Super looking forward to seeing what happens next! :-) | Reviewed By: SplendentGoddess [MediaMiner Member] On: November 21, 2012 15:53 PST Rating(s):Enjoyment Factor: 10 of 10 Overall Rating: 10 of 10 Comment/Review: Finally got a chance to read this. Fabulous update! I can understand Inuyasha being upset at first by finding Aki and Kinjiro working at the house 'cause he wanted to be by himself with just Kagome at that point, but on the other hand like they said, the sooner Aki gets done the sooner he can move on to somewhere else. It does need to be done, fixing the garden, so better to get it over with. I like how you showed some of Aki's ignorance; he obviously doesn't know that much about youkai and so maybe he will stop fearing Inuyasha quite so much as he comes to realize that he really is just like everybody else, at least in that he has to work for a living. Yes, Inuyasha does have magic, but not the kind to build a shed! He's gotta swing that axe and limb those trees and the wood's gotta be made into boards and the shed built just like anybody else's shed in the village. Aki might just learn a few more things from Kinjiro than how to handle a shovel by the time he's set to move in with Daitaro. | Reviewed By: SplendentGoddess [MediaMiner Member] On: November 16, 2012 08:06 PST Rating(s):Enjoyment Factor: 10 of 10 Overall Rating: 10 of 10 Comment/Review: Didn't get to read this last night like I wanted, but what a perfect way to start the morning! You're right that this chapter was a little on the short side, but you know? I'm okay with that, because I like how it was just the one fluid scene of Inu and Kag on their way home, and that touch of Kaede interaction was cool 'cause obviously they were passing right by her house so it makes sense that she'd step out, and also Kaede just gave Kagome the day off tomorrow so awesome! Those two need a day of nothing to do, so that they can do whatever they want to just relax and unwind. So wonderful job, as always, and as always I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. :-) | Reviewed By: SplendentGoddess [MediaMiner Member] On: November 13, 2012 10:00 PST Rating(s):Enjoyment Factor: 10 of 10 Overall Rating: 10 of 10 Comment/Review: I dislike Haname less and less every time you show her. After all, if Inuyasha looks so much like her youkai attacker from her youth, that's a hard thing to shake, if she never truly got over being attacked. I could easily see her thinking there must be some bewitching reason, why Kagome wants to be with him, and to realize now, to accept the truth of the matter that they are simply in love with each other, that must still boggle the mind so, be almost impossible for her to comprehend even though she knows it's true. But like Tsuneo said, everyone knows Morio bewitched her, and Inuyasha holds no grudge, so things will get better. The true villain in all of this had been Morio, and he got what he deserved, and now so did Aki. Joben's penance was already taken care of by Kazuo, and I'm sure after Kinjiro is through with Aki he'll be glad to find himself at Daitaro's, LOL. And like Hisa said, at least now Inu and Kag are no longer the front and center talk of the town; the main gossip will surely morph into what happened at the meeting with Aki and Isao. Excellent update, as always. Lovely update, as always. I really like how the second half of the meeting was finalized, and Tsuneo officially apologizing and also offering to have that shed built. I agree that him supplying the boards and overseeing the construction itself will certainly declare to everyone else that Tsuneo, personally, has no problem with Inuyasha. Of course some people might just convince themselves that he's doing it out of fright that to not have done so would have incurred the 'demon's' wrath, but whatever. Let the naysayers think what they will; fortunately they are few and far between. It is true that Inuyasha has to tiptoe a bit so as not to risk upsetting the people who are wary of him, but I think you handled his character in this chapter and all the preceding ones regarding this issue perfectly. If there's one thing Inuyasha comprehends, it's honor, and no matter how weird it feels or how uncomfortable it makes him, he'll do whatever is needed to save face. Looks like things are wrapping up. After Tsuneo says and offers whatever he needs to say and offer to make his amends it looks like Kagome and Inuyasha will finally be able to go home. Or stay for lunch. I could almost smell that fish stew, and it made me hungry! LOL. Lovely update, as always. I just adore your banter between all the characters. Poor Aki...insert evil laugh here, LOL. I almost feel sorry for him, except for the fact that he was such a nasty brat, so I definitely think he deserves it. I loved the little things you slipped in like Inuyasha finding a speck of sympathy for his fate by remembering the time when he'd been the one kicked out of his home village, not that he'd really done anything to deserve it like Aki was getting close to doing, but still, I think he's right, kicking him out won't fix him. They want to try to shape him up into a good man, not an evil bandit who'll lose all compassion for everybody. Good job, as always. I'm glad Tsuneo laid one on Aki like that; brat deserved it. The scene with Inuyasha and Kagome was cute, and I loved Daitaro's reaction to learning that even Kazuo wants his sake. Fit for the kami! LOL. Bravo! I absolutely adored this chapter! All that kami business, while clearly something you just made up, fits in with the canon so perfectly, and I loved the melancholy remembrance of Kikyou; it wasn't her fault, it just wasn't her time. I love that there is no Kikyou angst in this universe, that Kagome has outgrown those teenager insecurities, and that Inuyasha can acknowledge that his wife possesses the same soul as the late priestess while also knowing that she is entirely her own person. Kagome is the one who was destined for him all along, and yay for the gods finally rewarding them with a decent life for all the darkness they had to trudge through in order to get there. Bet Inuyasha didn't catch that part about he and Kagome being tied together, but nice slip. Beautiful, beautiful chapter. Looking forward to seeing what happens next, with the others, and the conclusion of this arc. Then it's roof building time and the sewing party! Yay! That was a good place to end this chapter, I think. His frustration is palpable. I also really liked the opening scene with Inuyasha and Kazuo, and the hanyou's gradual realization of just exactly who the old farmer really was. Kagome's got nothing to worry about, although I can't really say I blame her for wanting to dash out and see what's going on, just in case. Especially since Daitaro spilled the beans last chapter about Inuyasha being a bit tipsy, and she didn't get to witness for herself just how drunk he'd really gotten and only has that memory of when he'd gotten totally smashed back during the mission that one time with the youkai sage. I can see her envisioning a much more drunk Inuyasha in 'attack first, ask questions later' mode, not that she'd really have anything to worry about even if that were the case, since there's no way he could hurt Kazuo. And shame on Kazuo for sneaking up on him! Although that was really funny, LOL. All in all great chapter, of course.
