Going to review each of the last two chapters separately, since I normally would have read them one at a time, so so far I've only read chapter 71. Great chapter! I loved the little detail about Tsuneo telling Kagome to tell Inuyasha about the woodcutter, I'd completely forgotten all about that but I remember now that it was discussed before, that Tsuneo had the best board maker working for him and it might be an issue for Inuyasha to try to get his help. So glad that that obviously won't be an issue any more. And I'm glad Joben decided to take Morio in; I agree, the English word 'duty' doesn't carry the same weight as giri though I guess that's the closest translation. I liked you tossing in both 'giri' and 'ri' into the story. Super looking forward to whatever happens next. For once I don't have to wait! LOL. Off to read chapter 72...

Excellent update! The scene with Sango worked out perfectly, I think. That was very wise of Shippou, to stop there real quick even though he's in such a hurry, because he does know that it'll take him a while to get to Inuyasha and so in the mean time getting Sango to go check on Kagome was a very smart move. And they're right, it'll be good that Sango is there when Inuyasha comes storming in in a panic. Now what to do with Morio, indeed. Kazuo only said don't kill him, LOL. Looking forward to seeing what happens next! :-)

Yay! *applause* You show him, Kazuo! I loved the way you had Tsuneo jab Joben, like do you see now, boy? LOL. Too bad Haname was out of it and missed the show but I'm sure now that the spell Morio had cast on her will be broken she'll be able to recover, and Tsuneo is no doubt going to share with her, in great detail I imagine, just what the kami said and did. No more of this 'Kagome is a dark miko/witch' nonsense. And back with Inuyasha and Miroku, can't say I really blame Kazue all that much. LOL, I liked how she said she wouldn't want to keep the cat even if its piss could turn straw into gold. Poor Inu, went to all that trouble not to kill the kitten, but ah well, like Miroku said, if he'd just up and kaze no kizu'ed the bakeneko then Shippou wouldn't get his trophy. And speaking of Shippou, I'm glad Kazuo warned Kagome about Shippou running off to fetch Inuyasha, so now she can at least be prepared for her husband to come rushing home in a panic and be ready to calm him down when that happens. Looking forward to seeing what happens next! :-)

Oh boy oh boy oh boy *bounces in seat excitedly* I am SO looking forward to the next chapter! I can't wait to see what happens next with Morio now that Kazuo has made an appearance. A perfectly reasonable thing for him to do, I might add, since we've already met the guy once and know quite well that he is fond of Kagome and Inuyasha. Morio's in for one hell of a surprise, that's for sure. This seems a-typical of the 'evil priest' character we all love to late so much, so blinded by their belief that they are just and holy and everyone else around them are the evil ones. His desire to 'save' Kagome is all fine and good, so long as he only uses genuinely purifying ofuda which, of course, would have no harming effect on her, but something tells me he had way more nasty things up his sleeves than just that. If that were all it was then somebody could try to purify her to their heart's content, and then realize, oh, you must not be evil after all, my mistake. But what fun would that be, right? LOL. And go Shippou! He totally kicked ass for a minute there, so that was awesomeness. And speaking of...yay for de-tailing the bakeneko, too! I agree with Miroku, looking back on it it is kind of chuckle worthy, Inuyasha going for 8 seconds on the back of that overgrown feline, hehehe. So accurate to authentic Japanese mythology, you are. This is why they started up with the whole bobtail breed of cats in the first place, because it's very true according to their mythology that a cat with a long tail can become a bakeneko if it lives long enough. It's risky business, having a cat with a tail. Docking the tail (or breeding it out of the species altogether) prevents the possibility of them becoming youkai later in life. But I'm glad he didn't have to kill it, 'cause now Shizuka can have her kitty back, and I'm also glad she didn't get hurt when its tail hit her - hurt from the tail itself, at least. I'm positive that is because she held Miroku's ofuda. All around fabulous new chapter! Super looking forward to seeing what happens next. :-)

Bum Bum BUM! Good chapter! I really, really like the way you handled the situation with Haname; I wasn't expecting Isao, with his throbbing head, to help tackle her to the ground but that was an awesome show. Hopefully the elders will go easier on him during the punishment-making process, considering Aki's the true trouble maker. Whatever he has to do, though, it's clear he'll take it like a man and do his punishment work without complaint. Good boy...I like him. But what on Earth is Morio planning on doing with Kagome?! Gotta just love how the wicked people are the ones who accuse others of being wicked. I've seen many a story where somebody slaps an ofuda on Kagome thinking to break Inu's spell over her, scratching their head in confusion when it doesn't do anything, LOL, but something tells me Morio has more in mind than just praying over her. Can't wait to see what happens next!

Uh-oh...LOL, I agree with vvkimbo07; Inuyasha is NOT going to be pleased if and when he finds out about that slap. That wasn't very smart of Haname, LOL. Assuming Kagome were a witch who had cast her magic over everyone else, why the hell would you want to directly attack somebody like that? And of course we all know Kagome is innocent, but it's like...innocent or guilty Haname shouldn't have slapped her, LOL, the stupid bitch. Damn, and she had just been willing to go back home, too. What bad timing, with the women being outside and in her line of vision. Poor Kagome...although we all know she's touch as nails deep down inside. Can't wait to see how you decide her reaction should be to that slap. And things are certainly getting more interesting on Inuyasha and Miroku's end of things, too. Hope Inu doesn't end up losing the villagers' respect from the bakeneko spouting out that he's 'only' a hanyou, although I think right at this moment they're probably too preoccupied freaking out to worry much about what the giant cat monster is actually saying, LOL. Anyone actually listening will have also heard the confirmation that he is in fact related to the Inu no Taisho, so it's all good. I just hope they don't start to doubt his abilities from how he's been fighting it so far, even though we all know it's because he's trying not to kill it and especially trying not to maim it in front of the little girl. I'm sure everything will work itself out all right. Super looking forward to the next update! :-)

this is such a good story! youve truly picked up the characters where we left off with them and taken them to a place that i can 100% believe is possible AND probable. i love the character development you have done with the villagers - i really appreciate the way you are dealing with character conflict - it feels very natural and believable. im also really impressed with the family trees youve developed for the village - but more impressed that youve been able to make so many (related) characters believable yet distinct enough that i can actually remember who is who! (and i'm really bad with names, so kudos!) i really hope you continue updating this story, it truly deserves the award its won. i think its one of the best fanfictions ive read. excellent! my one suggestion - i would love to see more lemons if youre comfortable writing them -- either that or a have a little more variation with them. on a side note, you have this story rated as X, but i dont think the violence or language requires such a high rating, so i assume its for lemons, but i didnt feel that they were that long or strong. so basically, i think you have plenty of room left within your rating to write a little bit more :)

Excellent update! Glad to see things are finally happening with Inuyasha and Miroku, though I feel sorry for poor Shizuka, completely unaware of what's going on. It would make sense that the bakeneko needed a place to hide between attacks, and what better hiding place than in plain sight as nothing more than an innocent house cat? And it looks like things are just about to get interesting back home in Kaede's village, too, if Haname showing up at Tameo's compound screaming at the top of her lungs is any indication, LOL. In all the ruckus Kagome's probably going to forget to ask Matsume for her pickle recipe, hahaha. Super looking forward to seeing what happens next! :-)

Wonderful update, as always. I loved that Tsuneo made Aki apologize to Kagome, and the fact that he was actually afraid of Kagome was funny. Clearly Haname has spewed all kinds of nonsense about her being a witch able to warp the villagers' minds, or something to that effect, anyway. Any woman who consorts with youkai must therefore be just as wicket, right? I liked that Tsuneo seemed to be assessing her, having never actually met her before; perhaps he'll form his own separate opinion and will turn out to not be such a bad man, after all. That line about not wanting Aki to turn out like his father was a good one. And Aki's surprise as Daitaro complemented his apology was a nice touch, too. Maybe it's not too late, and Aki will gradually start to realize that his father and grandmother were speaking lies, fears born from their predisposed hatred. Good job! Really looking forward to seeing what happens next. :-)

Just to let you know, you have more than one grateful reader over here too. I love this story so much. It is simply wonderful to read what Kagome and InuYasha's life might have been like when she returned. I look forward to each and every update. Are you still active on LJ? I've lost the comm you used to mod/post to over there.

Lovely update, as always. I can understand Inuyasha's impatience, since he could so easily just go hunt the bakeneko down and be done with it, but I can also understand where Miroku is coming from in that, supposedly as the one in charge - the monk and his youkai helper - he has to put on a good show with all the monkly business. Even if they don't pay they'll talk, he's right, and others will hear of he and Inuyasha and they'll get more work. If Inuyasha just went in there guns blazing, so to speak, they might fear him even if he is on their side and kills the bakeneko, so letting Miroku be all priestly and bless all the houses is definitely the best way to go about it, putting all their minds at ease. As for Kagome's scene, I love how you pointed out how she and Inuyasha used to fight all the time in the beginning, because surely all of the villagers remember that, and how you explained that they were younger then, and Kagome herself has pretty much concluded that they have just grown up since then. This is not a divergence story that takes place early mission where Kagome was sitting him all the time and he was cussing and insulting her. This is almost four years later and after everything they've seen and done, they have both grown a lot in that time period. Kagome's not a little kid any more, and neither is Inuyasha. They are two mature, married adults, and they should act accordingly. Bravo! Can't wait to see what happens next. :-)
