I nearly had a heart attack in front of my computer monitor when I saw that you'd updated. Thanks you so much! ^_^ The story seems to have switched focus from the Kenshin/Kaoru relationship to the various forces trying to reel Kenshin (and Sano) in, and I must say, I'm very intrigued even if I'm also very interested in seeing how those two will work things out. I'm glad Shura's out of the picture for now, but her parting plans were omnious. ::shudder:: The way you worked in the various issues in Japanese society like the rise of right-wing, nationalist feelings and how the ordinary people in the streets react to it was just wonderful. One thing confused me though, are some of the sentences in bold because they're important or was it just a formatting error?

I'm not usually a bit fan of A/U fics, but you have managed to create a setting that reasonably holds and explains the characters, while still preserving the essential flavor of the characters as we know them (usually one or the other suffers). At the same time, you are introducing enough original plot twists that I'm actually interested in the story as well as in interactions. I am *very* impressed!. A good job, and a very enjoyable read. Thank you for sharing your work with us. I look forward eagerly to future chapters! Kathy

Cool, you have a RK fic too! You know, I read your Inuyasha fic and liked it a lot, but I really really L-O-V-E this fic, which is a bit strange seeing that I like Inu-chan more than RK, hehe. It's so real and I can't wait to see what happens next! You're very talented, and if I had a mediaminer account, I'd so put this on my favorites.

This story is so original, so well-written, so real, so gritty, and so interesting. This is by far the best Rurouni Kenshin fanfic I have read. I never thought I would find something so great. Keep up the good work.

This is a wonderful fic, thank you so much for sharing it with us! It was really nice how you tied in the characters' past histories with the present, eg Megumi being from an illegal background to being a doctor, and Shishio turning up. Kaoru's insecurities are so natural, and you wrote them beautifully IMHO. I have a question though. In the first chappie, it said that Tomoe and Akira were siblings and that Tomoe got the bullet meant for Kenshin while he lived with them for a while. How come in your latest chapters say Enishi's her only brother and that Kenshin can't remember/didn't know in the first place who she was? Also, Enishi visited Kaoru in the early chapters as the neighbourhood bully, but he looks like a different person here. Like I said before, I REALLY like SotS (see rating above...it's only 9 and 8 for the top two because of a few spelling errors), but these things are confusing me. Oh well, please clarify them if you want in your next update. ;) I really want to know *why* Kenshin's superiors want Kaoru pregnant, and if Kenshin's going to kill/maim Kaoru. And how or when will Shura come into this? It's only been 2 days since you've updated, but I'm already going through withdrawl from not getting enough of your GREAT story. I adore this fic. I'm not exaggerating - I've been watching out for your updates every few days for the past three months, and the main reason why I came onto mediaminer.org was for your fic siince it's not up on ff.net. I'm so ovr-the-moon-happy about the two new chapters. You made my day, especially since I was beginning to be afraid that you'd given up on this! ^_~ I like the gritty, real feel of this fic. It doesn't whitewash the facts of life, and even if this is an AU fic, all the characters are in character. Kaoru's worry that Kenshin is just playing with her is very realistic, and so is Sano and Megumi being worried for Kaoru's sake over her relationship with Kenshin.I can honestly say that this is my favourite RuroKen AU fic, and one of my most favourite fics in all the fandoms - period. I don't want to rush you or put you off, so I'll just say that please update when you are ready...your updates make so many people happy. Me, I go nuts in front of my computer. ^_^ But please, please, never give up on this fic. It's so unique and fascinating.

I find this entire story to be completely enthralling. I would very much like to see more chapters added, that I would. I like how you portray Kenshin in a humanized role, rather than the near god perfection we're accustomed to seeing. In most fics Kenshin is too perfect to have a mental breakdown. He's too perfect to have the doubts you've given him. He's too perfect to dwell for long in the pain of his past. You've made the character much more realistic. I also like how you've portrayed Sano. Sano is loyal. . .but he doesn't know Kenshin at first and, like most real individuals, is ruled by self-preservation. I'm glad to see that you've managed to portray this. Sanosuke can be Kenshin's friend, but it can't happen immediately, just like in real life. They have to get to know each other first. Kaoru, in your story, seems much more realistic than in the original. **shrugs** That's just my opinion, but I've always found her blind acceptance of Kenshin and his past to be. . .naive. Admittedly, the Meiji Era was a more innocent time than today, but I found that the way Kaoru blithely ignored Kenshin's shaded past was not realistic. Even the bravest of souls would pause and consider the dangers of being associated with a former hitokiri, yet she didn't seem to even think of it at all. In your story Kaoru is portrayed as a young woman with doubts and fears yet she's battling them to give Kenshin a chance, something too many people in his life wouldn't do. I'm curious about the "old man" Kenshin goes to see. Genzai-sensei I presume? What is his form of treatment? Is it mostly meditation and an open mind? I feel that he will be the key to Kenshin's recovery, not the psychiatrists he's been seeing all along who've kept him drugged up and off balance. All in all, I say bravo to your very entertaining fic and I really do hope you continue soon. I'm sitting on the edge of my chair waiting to see what will happen after Kenshin's appointment and when he returns to Kaoru's doujou. ^_^x Chiruken

sorry but didn't do a review for the other chapters just decided to read through all the ones you had made so far and its all very nicely done can't say anything but wow awesome storyline great descriptive your story is diffenently oneof those few that cant even be rated properly on this rating system i hope to read more of your fics soon and wish you luck with them

It's a very interesting story: I'm french and I have the courage to read it (even if I hate reading non-french fics...-_-)! I like the idea of Kenshin having a complete mental collapse.
