Wow, I am going to be incredibly spoiled with the speed these updates are coming.
You have a real talent for slowly providing glimpses into the characters with each successive chapter.
The slowly developing relationship between Yohji and Aya is addictive. With both of them concealing their own skeletons, and even we readers not knowing everything, the slowly burgeoning friendship (with potential for more) becomes both believable and heartfelt. (Sorry for that run-on sentence!)
Yohji's private investigator background and his nosing about Aya's mail, with hints of his past relationship with Asuka, all make for a wonderfully complicated relationship.
Kase's secret is also intriguing. I admit to being in favor of the whole Aya/Yohji plot line more than any other, but the other elements are just as interesting. You manage to show humanity in the less prominently displayed characters, making their own stories worth reading just as much!

*nuzzles Neko-koi* I already said on the ML that I love it. But, I'm saying it again here. Especially after the latest chapter (3). Oooohhhh the drama! The tension! Yohji wants Aya; Aya wants Yohji; Yohji can't touch Aya or he'll get killed by Aya's jealous boyfriend. What to do?! And in such a gossip-filled place, too. I can't wait to see how you have them handle things! I also love your take on the "What if there was no Weiss...?" thing. I was quite pleased to see an update so quickly.
Yohji's tea with Ayumi was interesting. I am glad that he showed a mix of suave charm and the putting the foot in the mouth bluntness. Makes his character seem so real that way.
Your portrayal of Ken is wonderful. He's so far in the closet he reeks of mothballs? LOL
The ending was rather cliffhangerish in nature, but I have this masochistic preference for cliffhangers. I wonder what happened to Yohji...
Aya's reluctance in being his benefactor was in keeping with his character as developed so far, and I look forward to seeing "the morning after" meeting between the two.
Hirofumi is not exactly the evil dominant male, and the fact that he is the only one to care for Momoru shows his human side. @.@ You're going to end the chapter -there-? *pouts* But I want to know what's going on. *smirks* Of course, if you ended the chapter with Yohji's tea with Ayumi, I'd just be whining about that. Anywho, I'm loving the fic. Thank you for the tip-off to Marith's archive... *murmurs* Yummy, yummy stories. ^_^ I like the blend of modernity and tradition in this fic... and Aya's use of shikata ga nai... *sighs happily* Such a lovely phrase. Slightly sad on one hand, but highly uplifting and freeing on the other. The name 'Tsubaki' *coughs* I know it's a flower-name, but someone's been watching some YnM, ne? ^_^ As always, great attention to detail. The characterizations are firm and believable. And once again, I find myself hanging on your every word. Just don't let me hang for too long, ne? Aaahh, SUGOI ^_^...I LOVED IT^^..again! Hhm, ok like I said before....I somehow can't stand these scenes where Aya is acting so cold against Yohji *shrug*^^. It breaks my heart ^.^...really...poor Yohji ^___^! But well, that's our little Rannie-chan (I like this nick^^)...who can already be mad at him ^_^...that's the way he is *nod nod* ^_____________^! And we already made a small step into the right direction *looks at the end of part 2^^* (*mumbles* what does "we" mean *shakes her head*...Neko wrote it...silly Koji-chan...well...*hehe* ^^;;)

Fortuately that will change in the course of the story...I HOPE...ack, of course it will, ne^^..I'm silly, you mentioned it at the beginning ^_____________^! *Hehe*, I'm happy that you didn't get into the details with Yohjis and Rikas "sex thing" ^_^...I'm allergic against male/female couples *shudder*...JOKE ^_~ *giggle*, but I'm happy nevertheless ^___^! I really enjoyed this one. You have a knack for writing both details and character interaction. I simply loved Yohji's run-in with Ken as much as the way you've shown Aya's situation with Hirofumi. In the first chapter, I already want to know more of Aya's background, of how he ended up where he is, the family's shame, etc. etc. etc.!
Yohji's initial impression of Aya is already showing signs of changing, and there is so much potential for character development...oh, do I LOVE character development!

I really like the story concept. I can also see that there has been some research done for this story, and I always find things like that impressive. Many times in today's fanfiction world authors are willing to cut as many corners as possible, but I can see that is not the case here.
