You wrote this so well that I just couldn't stop reading even when I realized it was going to have a rather tragic ending. Duo is my favorite character--there's just something about his portrayal in the series that I connected with the most--and so it made me extremely sad when my little lightbulb went on and told me that Duo was the villain in this story. Reading this gave me a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach and yet I was happy because it was done so well. Obviously your intended effect was to inspire fear, sorrow, and suspense, and you succeeded in your endeavor. Kudos. So in the end, though the conclusion of this leaves me feeling melancholic, conflicted, and pleased all at once, I still loved this story. It was well done. Thank you for writing it. I would definitely recommend it to others.

I also agreed with the comment about Quatre being a replacement for Relena. I think thats par tof the reason I felt it was rushed, like, Heero was just rebounding.

I didn't like the ending that much because i felt there wasn't much of a build up between 1x4 before they ended together. it seemed that relationship was thrown together. I probably wanted a different ending. Not 2x1 because i understaood that relationship was not going anywhere with Duo's attitude. but 1x4 seemed a bit rushed to me. Other than that I loved everything else!

Reviewed By: stumbledork On: February 24, 2008 08:43 CST Comment/Review: Glad to see this story finished, especially since so many other GW fics are left incomplete. Because I can never believe a Heero/Quatre pairing, I think Duo was dead on in saying that Heero merely replaced Relena with an identical version, one with a dick. Working and living with Quatre pretty much means he is a kept man. His suitcase probably still contains all that he owns which is his alone.

Title: spoilerific review Reviewed By: Omni-sama [MediaMiner Member] On: January 09, 2008 19:46 CST Comment/Review: Another twist. And, hopefully this won't make you lose faith in humanity again, but... I honestly was hoping for there to be some way for things to work out for Duo and Heero. Yes, yes, I know... What Duo was doing to Heero was indeed a bit fucked-up, and Duo did end up being --ah *glances around and wishes not to spoil, but knows it's too late*. But... I actually felt a great deal of sympathy for Duo, even at the very end of the epilogue (which reminds me, seems I wrote "prologue" in my last review...silly me). ESPECIALLY at the end of the epilogue. Yes, it's a happy ending for Heero, but... Just as Heero points out, he has a bit of a head start on the whole starting over thing...while Duo is...pretty much adrift. Not to mention that Duo has been in love with him for so long, and now has to go the rest of his life knowing that he blew any and all chances with Heero. Hell, he has to live with the knowledge that he made the man he loves hate him enough to want to kill him. That's...rather pitiable. What Duo did was horrific and beyond fucked-up, yes... But I think he realized in the last chapter, after Relena said he only had to ask, just what a huge mistake he had made. A mistake which will haunt him until his dying day. He was a fool, and even though he is no longer in prison, he is most certainly still being punished for his deeds. Hm... Wonder what it says about me that after reading the epilogue I just felt...sad. That I feel more sympathy for the "bad guy" than for the "good guy". That I wanted Heero to run after Duo, but not to kill him. That I agreed with Duo's assessment of why Heero was with Quatre. =/ Sorry again if this diminishes your faith in humanity. You should take all that I said as a massive compliment, though. You succeeded in drawing me so deeply into your story that I sympathize with characters to this extent. That's rare, especially in the world of fan fic.

It was twisted and dark and gave Duo (and the others) a whole new dimension. Sweet and innocent isn't always that way and while the boys all have a darkness about them I always suspected Duo with more. I'm glad to see someone bring it forth so well and give the others a way to begin life. I am (of course) secretly glad that Duo got out of jail (knew he would) and that he would have to find and finish his words with Heero. To me it all settled for the good. It doesn't always have to be 1X2.

I always tend to wish for 1x2, but the story wouldn't have been half as good with any other ending.

Reviewed By: GW_ShenLong [MediaMiner Member] On: January 09, 2008 01:29 CST Rating(s):Overall Rating: 10 of 10 Comment/Review: Now that was what I call the ideal ending for a fic of this type and caliber. Given Duo's warped mind and the things he's done, to have it finish with a 2x1x2 would have spoilt the overall effect. Having Heero end up on L4 and starting a budding relationship with Quatre is a much more realistic ending. I'm glad though that Duo did manage to escape from jail and with the bill having gone through and changes coming into effect, he really doesn't have any reason to kill any more. Quatre summed it up very well with Duo's litany. Thank you for the roller coaster ride, I've really enjoyed reading this fic, even more so because of your attention to detail. *hugs and Gundam Pilots* Shen ^_^

Your right Herro and Duo for the ending wouldn't be right for this story. Your story was fun read. It never got boring.

Comment/Review: Aw, it's almost a little sad that you've actually finished, although congratulations since it is a rather large feat. :) Personally, I was secretly rooting for 1x2x1 despite the fucked-up-ness. Haha. Maybe it's because I was hoping Heero would be able to change Duo or something for the better and he'd stop himself from fulfilling the role of the Butcher. But it's sweet how you left it, and it's the most reasonable ending. Logical enough for Heero. :) Great story! Thanks for letting us read it.

Look forward to the epi. Maybe Heero can end up with Quatre?? I always thought they'd make a good pair.

It is well written, and creative. Normally I stay away from dark stories, but anything well written is worth reading. Maybe things will look brighter in the epilogue??? The happy-ending lover in me can still hope, right.

Reviewed By: Omni-sama [MediaMiner Member] On: January 03, 2008 11:51 CST Comment/Review: The entire time I read this chapter, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop... For there to be some twist that would make it simply not true. But, alas, it was true. Not that I'm really complaining. It makes things vastly more interesting to have it turn out this way. Also makes me wonder what on earth you could have in store for us in the prologue.

Reviewed By: rayana On: January 03, 2008 08:21 CST Comment/Review: I love how you made it all work out without putting too much sugar on it. I was truly scared for the character in the beginning. That Duo of yours was creepy - I couldn't agree more with that 'What did you expect?' line of his. It shows how things can change with just a little twist of destiny. And the Ralena moment was sweet, when she spoke to Duo at the end. It was such an unexpected thing but it still felt exactly right.
