This story almost ruined me for all other fan fiction. It's been a
while since I read this story, but I still find myself thinking
about it often. I've read about a million IY fanfics, but this is
the very first review I've ever written. This story is the absolute
best for so many reasons. I hate, I repeat HATE Sess/Kag fics where
Inuyasha is made out to be the bad guy, and I hate even more the
stories where he chooses Kikyo over Kagome. I don't want to put any
spoilers in my review, so I wont go into detail, but the way you
handled Inuyasha & co. was absolutely perfect, and heart
wrenching, and beautiful. Actually, in all truth I just hate
Sess/Kag fics in general, and I've only read 3 I enjoy, 2 of which
are yours. This is also the only fanfic I've read that totally
surprised me. You totally M. Night Shyamalan'd the hell out of the
Madoushi story arc. Also, did you intend to make Sesshomaru a
synesthetes? Either way I loved it, the way he described scents was
perfect and it just fit him, or at the very least, your him.
I felt like my heart was repetitively put through the wringer and I
loved it. It's like with each scenario you thought "How can I make
my reader feel the most feels?" And then you nailed it every time.
Sorry, I'm rambling...I just thought maybe if I write a review of
this fic it would give me the closure I need to move on...I think I
might just need to read it again. Anyways...thank you.

I. Can't. Even. This is hands down the best Inuyasha fic I've ever
read, and quite possibly my favourite fanfic ever. I've never been
inclined to ship Sesshomaru and Kagome, but this. THIS. You've
changed everything. Holy crap. Well done. I can't praise you
enough. I am grieving because it's over. For the first time I can
remember, I have a book hangover from a fanfic. I don't want to
move on... So I'm going to immediately start reading it again. I
love the way you retained the essences of both Sesshomaru and
Kagome and still brought a new maturity to Kagome and incredible
insight into both of them. I laughed out loud often during their
inner monologues, I cried at their losses, I bit my lip so hard it
bruised from the tension, and I'm just awed by your talent. Thank
you so much for sharing your gift and this amazing piece of work.
I'm incredibly grateful I got to read it. I loved ever stupid,
stupid pretty word.

I've fallen out of fan fiction for a while now, but I suppose it's
one of those things that draw you back in when hit with a dose of
nostalgia for a short time. And I'm so so glad I stumbled upon this
fic. The part where I decided to finish this story (admittedly I
abandoned some fics midway because of excess fluff/smut/whatever)
is when you described the heartache Kagome was having as she missed
her friends. How no one remembers that InuYasha had a weakness for
noodles, how Sango loved the color green, and how Miroku would
crack his knuckles when he was anxious. Details like that just
shoot you through the heart. Left me in tears at work, I'll have
you know and quickly had to make up some bullshit excuse about
family issues. But really, that's what a good story does. It makes
you laugh, cry, and hurt with the characters. And not just the main
characters. Everyone. That's what I love about this. The emotions
are so bare, and raw!, that you have to admire how Kouga, Shippou,
and anyone else finds a way to just move on. Because the world
always keeps turning. And it fucking kills me that the majority of
the population doesn't understand that. The proof is in the sales
records from Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey. That shit is just
plain embarrassing. Anyway. Thank you for making me laugh, cry,
hurt, mad and, shamefully, horny throughout this ride. It was
amazing and as an adult, I'm not hiding that, yes, I do still read
fan fiction dammit and this is why! Although my standards (should)
be higher than when I first started reading fics..........

Just want to thank you again for writing such a fantastic fic. I
enjoy all of your other works as well, but just the scale of this
makes this one my favorite. It's a regular re-read and I just hope
you know how much I appreciate the story and the time and effort
you put into creating it. ^_^

However, I am delighted to say that not only was the development handled tastefully, but believably and appealingly. The agonizing slowness with which you handled the growth of the characters was deliciously enjoyable; this is one story where the journey is just as satisfying as the destination. The overall storyline was particularly interesting; when I gave my friends an abstract synopsis of "This Book I'm Currently Reading" they all thought it sounded like a really interesting story and were curious to learn more. It is very easy to tell that a lot of thought and planning went into this story from beginning to end. It is always refreshing to see a fanfiction with depth and reason to the plot, rather than the innumerable serialized stories filled with fluff and untamed story arcs running rampant. As for the style of writing, I found it much more sophisticated (if sometimes a bit wordy) than the average novel. Your use of dry wit and sarcasm is spot on with the type of humor that appeals to me in writing (I especially enjoyed tidbits such as Kagome's Letter to Her Adrenal Glands at the beginning of chapter 19) and I genuinely laughed out loud in many places. The amount of drama, suspense, and angst struck a very good balance, and every emotion of the characters is shared by the reader. So, like any good book, when I reached the end of this story I felt as thought I had lost a good friend. This makes your work, in my opinion, a success. It is a polished gem in a very eclectic mix of fanfiction, and I am very lucky I took the opportunity to read it. That is the longest any single InuYasha FanFiction has retained my attention and I greatly enjoyed reading it though it seemed to drag on in just a few places and there were a couple of grammar/spelling mistakes that I stumbled over, but overall, I greatly enjoyed reading this tale and only wonder what happened to Shippou after Lord Sesshoumaru left him, I was almost certain that our beloved Lord would have taken Kagome to the casino in hopes the two would happen across each other though I guess it was not to be. Also, for how often Kagome and Lord Sesshoumaru... Erm... Copulated, seemingly with the use of condoms how come Kagome never came to be pregnant with his child? And towards the end, the tale seemed just a little rushed. Okay, I am going to shut up now before I insult anyone. | Reviewed By: chiinu On: July 02, 2012 06:56 PDT Rating(s):Style of Writing: 9 of 10 Spelling & Grammar: 9 of 10 Originality/Creativity: 10 of 10 Enjoyment Factor: 10 of 10 Overall Rating: 9 of 10 Comment/Review: I enjoyed this fic a lot more than I thought I would. Your writing style is great! There was the odd occasion when it felt like you were babbling a bit, and there were some spelling mistakes and missing words here and there. All of those were made up by the richness and development of all characters. The steady, growing affections and sexual tension between Sesshomaru and Kagome were developed and written perfectly. And good lord their bickering! I loved their relationship in this! Just... perfect. | Reviewed By: Lainy27 On: May 30, 2012 01:25 PDT Rating(s):Style of Writing: 10 of 10 Spelling & Grammar: 10 of 10 Originality/Creativity: 10 of 10 Enjoyment Factor: 10 of 10 Overall Rating: 10 of 10 Comment/Review: I cried as I read the last few chapters. It was like poetry in story form. It really touched me. But, you known, not in the emo-way or the child-predator, but in the I-just-read-something-worth-reading-way. Your writing style really adds dimension to the characters. They're not two-dimensional, good/bad happy/sad. They have depth. Even the minor ones. This story was not what I had expected it to be at all. But it's much better I think, for all that. -Logical Paradox | Title: Incredible!
