Kagome returns home to her own time for a while after a long tiring battle with the band of seven. During this time a long time childhood friend comes to live with her and her family indefinitely, due to her own family dying in a fire. Spending time together they become inseparable, and confide their inner most secrets to each other. But when out shopping one day Hoshiko is attacked in the street as there on their way home. While lying bleeding to death in her arms Kagome makes a decision and pulling a jewel shard from her bottle around her neck she merges it with her friends body, which heals her fatal wounds. As this happens Inuyasha happens upon them and witnesses the event. In the end he demands that she accompany them on their quest as it wouldn’t be safe for her to stay there in Kagome’s time, as after being merged with the jewel fragment she suddenly developed very destructive powers. Through adventures with Kagome and her friends she finds out more of herself, her worth, strengths and weaknesses and a possibility at happiness with a certain youkai.
