Shabopo makes some very good points... the manga are darker than we think at first glance. I have to agree with everything she says, and be jealous she thought of it first. Heh, but if Hiei gained his hate of humans from seeing the almost exile to the makai the Kagome had to endure, surely they talked, if they were imprisoned together. Or did they just sit in silence and brood, wondering when that bastard would come and hurt them again? Perhaps, did they become more, behind those bars. But surely, Hiei somehow learned of her time traveling adventures, and if he was in the modern era, perhaps he had different motives for being there? Perhaps... I won't indulge in a discussion about the manga, but I believe Shabopo made a very good point. And raised a question, as I somehow think that there had to be time when they were both lying awake and dreading the next day, hating their lives... times when they had to break the silence, just to think about something other than the horrible turn their lived took. How did Hiei get to be with these people anyways? Are they the bandits who discovered him after he was dropped off of the Koorime domain? Or perhaps they captured him somehow, and suppresed his power before he could kill them. I also take it this was before he got the jagan implanted, thus he would still have his mother's teargem. Now that I'm thinking about it... I've gotta thank Shabopo. Heh, I shall wait and see what happens, and how you deal with it. Beat you, word limit! ^-^

Fate never does give Kagome a break, now does it? Ah well, I'm curious to see how you have Hiei murder them. Though I'm thinking you should let Hiei have all the joy in killing them, Youko shouldn't take away his personal vengeance. I have to admit, I have a vague idea of how he marked her... but truthfully, I'm not to sure. Nor am I too curious to find out, even though I believe it will come into some imminence later in the story... I think. Perhaps not. What exactly stops others from touching her once she's been marked? Or is this going to be explained? Hm, you say this is flashbacks and such... I have the oddest picture in my head of a collage with photos taken from the story, and surrounded by spilled blood. Really creepy, but you'd have to see into my mind too fully see it. As of now, the pictures are indistinct, as I haven't read the whole fic yet. brr... creepy image. Eh, surprisingly enough, that's all I have too say. 'till next time then! ^-^

Sure, Midoriko warned her a little, but- were it not for her, we can assume Kagome wouldn't be in this wretched situation. That little fact will surely fester in her mind at some point. She did so much to try to deal/help with the Shikon no Tama, and Midoriko's soul, only to be rewarded by being dropped essentially into the laps of a bunch of rapists? I could even see Hiei gaining his hatred of humans over this, if he knew/she told him what her situation was- someone so innocent giving her all only to be betrayed by the one she helped, who was supposed to be an incredibly pure, good miko. Subconsciously, he might have wanted to destroy the world of humans, since they were part of why she was hurt so much. He'd care about someone who tried to aid him with no ulterior motive, especially if he were very young... And I think we all know how protective he gets over people he considers to be his responsibility, or whatnot. I mean, he got the Jagan, knowing it could drive him insane, just to find his sister, someone he didn't even know. I wonder... when he finds her, would he take her to wherever he has a secure home/place in Makai? I don't really see him letting any of the Reikai Tentai knowing about the situation, and the nature of his past. It would make sense then that he try to hide her in a place where he could kill threats without fear or reprisal... and in a place where Koenma'd not find him easily.

Anyway, so following on the theory that the manga of IY is rather darker than at first glance. I turned to YYH; It wasn't so serious, content-wise, but... If Hiei was raised by bandits- and they had the power to subdue him- sexual abuse would have almost definitely taken place. I think one of the reasons I like these two series in that they don't soften things up, if you know what I mean. Hn. Rape is mostly about control, after all, and clearly Masakazu feels threatened by Hiei on some level, or he wouldn't feel the need to assert his dominance so strongly. Well, at least I'm hoping so... as the alternative would be that Masakazu is just a twisted sadist with no reasons behind his evilness. I have to wonder, a little off-topic... If Kagome, a human, tried to save him- where did he get his all-consuming hatred for humans? He was somewhat on a destroy-the-world bent when we first met him, after all. On the other hand... his memories are fragmented. And there's still that Blood Moon that is clearly tied to everything. If he remembers his childhood then, it can be assumed that something of major impact on his life occurred in a similar eclipse. Power accumulates then, or so you've said in your story, so perhaps he or she managed to draw on it and broke free? You know, I'm thinking Kagome at some point is going to feel incredibly betrayed by Midoriko, who clearly took her there knowing what would happen.

While I skipped a tid bit, for obvious reasons... I was incredibly impressed by the chapter. I was wondering how that 'masakazu' [sp?] tied in with the prophecy, aside from the rather obvious comment about her innocence... The story is compelling in the pain you feel for the characters- but at the same time, you know they're not going down without a fight. I'm not sure how she'll end up in the future- obviously using the well that one last time- but I'm thinking that she'll be mostly incoherent/catatonic at that point in time. Perhaps she would confide in Hiei previous to that point, and he'd help her there? Anyway... but it sounds to me like Hiei will be helping her in the modern era to recover... since he said he'd find her, in ch.2 I think?, that does imply he knows she would be around then- and in need of assistance. When he finds her... I'm almost afraid that Koenma will find him and accuse him of commiting the atrocities perpetrated on her. That'd be an emotionally constricting scene, for certain! I was going over my copies of IY manga and noticed how 'adult' they really were- I can't believe I missed some of the connotations of somethings Shippou, IY, and Miroku said...! It brought me to the conclusion that The manga doesn't go into things like rape, and whatnot- but it's clear that the characters are supposedly exposed to a great deal more than we, the reader, see. As such, a fic like this really does work. Incredible chapter. Emotionally riveting.

The story is really well written which makes me doubly glad you're glossing over the horrid details.

Great minds think alike. I was just the other day postulating to myself about what "raised by bandits" might actually entail. You went way darker than me, though.

I love this story! Please update soon! I was crying when Kagome got taken away! I hope that Hiei and Kagome get to meet again in the future... and not the future that she gets raped in. The future that shes from that Hiei's in now. I don't think I could sit through another rape flash back. Let alone the real thing.

Um... one thing, you might want to up the rating to at least PG13. I don't feel it's 'R' yet, but it's really not PG with the newest chapter. Just a suggestion... I don't want some younger author to flip and try to get you banned or something.

I think this chapter was very well-done. It was clear as to what happened... but not grotesquely so. Once again I do appreciate you paring things like this down from time to time. I'm curious to see how old you make Hiei... ~300, if I recall aright... so how did Kagome get to when he was that young? And it would be like her to try to help, I think, even if she were in such a state... though I fear for her going catatonic if things do not improve. ...Iie, I do hope she isn't pregnant... though it still is up in the air I think as to whether or not a miko could bear a demonic child. It's good to know that the moon-puzzle will come clear soon; this set the tone very well for upcoming chapters, I think. Sidenote- I just noticed that FF.net changed their rating system... it's weird. AMA must've threatened to sue, ne? I eagerly await more when you've the time and inspiration. This is so interesting! I plow through hordes of horrible ficlets to find the occasional gem like your stories, or deviation's... they are what makes the genre worth reading, in my book.

I usually only type at 45 WPM... @_@ ah well. I well enjoy watching Hiei murder his tormentors... in fact, I'll bring the popcorn. Want some? ^-^ This was a depressing chapter... though I am wondering, who exactly was with Hiei? Hm... well, we'll see. I now need to tear myself away from all the fanfics and begin work on the next chapter... I'm hoping it won't be another 'must... get... *thud* ZzZz...' chapters. Though I doubt that will happen... I'll try, I'll try. 'till next time!

I guess I was wrong about Hiei, I'm happy he didn't hurt Kagome!:-) Poor thing, I would hate to lose my innocence like that, that's the worse way to lose it. Anyway, this is getting really good so far. Hiei is right, Masakazu should die for his twist mind of his. I wouldn't mind killing him myself but I'll need reinforcements from my muses. That would be fun... muwhahahaahaha! Please update soon! *~*crazy-punk-gurl*~*
