I agree with Bastion...It is about time...This was a chapter that your readers needed. The understanding of why Ichigo is so screwed up. He didn't want to be intimate with her because if he allowed is heart to love her then he was afraid that she would be "sacrified" like his mother. Him dating Orihime was his escape to justify his actions. He never really cared about Orihime. He knew that if he was with someone else it might keep him from admitting that he actually wanted and loved Rukia. You can lose someone if you are not in love with them...that's his warped sense of logic. Now he needs to get to Rukia, have Kaien beat some sense into him and then come back and break up with Orihime. Please I beg you after all that sickening "Ichi" crap let it be soon. Ichigo has a lot to atone for with Rukia. Going to her and apologizing is a start. Who knows, Kaien may have to play therapist with Ichigo and Rukia. You never told us how old Kaien was anyway. He could be in college for all we know and he could have a girlfriend as well. He cares about Rukia that is for sure. Oh and please don't do the typical, Ichigo gets there sees her in Kaien's arms and leaves. It's been done to death and it is actually getting old. I have read it in too many stories already. However, I have never read it in your stories so there is a possiblity that you wont let that happen. He needs to get into a fight with Kaien and Rukia needs to let Ichigo have it for the way he's treated her. There has to be a confrontation between them to resolve everything and make it better. You have taken a different route with this story...it has been interesting to say the least, but it is great and is only getting better. Please keep up the superb work and thank you for the Ichigo POV. Oh and by the way, we don't need an Orihime POV...unless you make her smarter than she appears. :)

Now that's more like it. Ichigo is now on the pathway to redemption. Though I'm wondering about two things. First what exactly happened to Ichigo's mother? Did someone kill her or did she did in a car accident? Second, why the hell did he go out with Ori? Was she an escape from Rukia which was an escape from his mother? ???? I was hoping for an explanation for that. I know I'm probably asking for the moon but it would be nice to see a chapter from Ori's perspective but I highly doubt it. It appears we're on our way to a Kaien/Ichigo showdown.

i was like so close to crying along with rukia. one can almost feel the pain and anguish that she is going through. and thnak god for kaien. i can't believe im saying this but i am actually very happy that kaien is there and that he is someone special in rukia's life.at least the change of environment seems to be doing rukia good. though i am very curious as to how ichigo is doing. what will be his next move? what is he thinking? planning? i really don't want to wait five more days for the next chapter. i am so curious already!

Great chapter, the change in environment seems to be doing good for Rukia. I am now doubting that anything will happen with Rukia and Kaine, since everything he does seems to remind her of Ichigo the man she longs for, she may have left him behind physically, but mentally he seems to be still present. I was a bit confused over your description of Rukia's aunt an Uncle you said they were in their early fourties but the way you described them makes them seem in their late 60s at least, I got a sense of them being warm loving grandparents, I liked the characters the way they just knew what to do to make Rukia feel at ease, as if she was a daughter returning home, the gentle affection they showed her, it's just the physical descriptions which seemed a bit strange, elderly, white hair, leathery hands, her Uncle's illness. I can't wait to see what happens in the next chapter, and how Ichigo is coping. He's my favourite character in the story, lol it's just something about the dark, brooding and seemingly cruel, characters that does it for me. I want to know what's in his mind.

what can i say about this chapter that i haven't said in the others? i am glad i checked to see if there were updates before going to bed. i think its time rukia gets some lovin' or at least experience what it is like to feel wanted! looking forward to happier moments for rukia!

Yay! Its early, I always check to see if there is an early chapter and I am so glad there was one. I love how you write Rukia's grief so realistically. I cant wait to find out what happens when she sees Ichigo again. I am glad Ukitake has a role, he is one of my favorites and I love his relationship with Rukia. Good chapter! I want more!

First I want to say Great update. I loved it. Secondly...I must ask when is forty elderly, especially early forties. I would like to see you call Kate Hudson, Hallie Berry or Janet Jackson elderly. I'm 19 and I only hope I looked that good when I'm in my forties. And they definitely do not have leathery hands. Other than that, Great update...Excellent. I like the fact that you are taking your time to let Rukia deal with her grief. She needs to be with a family that loves her and will comfort her. I can not wait to see what kind of pain you put Ichigo through. He needs to be put through some awful, heart wrenching torture. And PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE...Let him dump Orihime soon. I can take you drawing out bringing Ichigo and Rukia together, but Orihime needs to be dumped like NOW! That was so insensitive of her in the last chapter...that still burns me...Rukia was suppose to be her friend and all she could think of was the kiss Rukia gave Ichigo. That takes ditsy over the top. You are by far an amazing writer to bring out this type of emotion in your readers. GREAT JOB!!! KEEP IT UP and I hope you update soon.

Ah, the calm before the storm. Now I'm excited about just how big this storm is going to be. I'll be looking forward to it. ;) BTW, I noticed the excellent job of descriptions of, well, everything, every taste, sound, color. The scene with Rukia and the bed post, wow. I never noticed this level of detail before. Were you experimenting in this chapter?

dear lord, i don't think i could hate orihime more than i already do in this fic. oh, and i realy liked the way your mind worked on the kaien issue. so he's adopted. he's not really her cousin. by the way ichigo has been acting, i wouldn't really mind a little kaienxrukia angle. serves him right! though i must say, i am stiull waiting for some the light to shed on ichigo's personality. the reason why he is acting like a stupid SOB. but yeah, in this chap, i think ichigo might be spurned into action. and haji is right, it is about time that ichgo feels some of the hurt that rukia felt because of him.ah, and haji totally rocks in this chap.

Okay, so let me just say, because you have this as no anonymous reviews, I went ahead and created a profile JUST so I could give you a review. I have read every single one of your stories, and I am in love with all of them, especially this one. You write so well, and you have such an in-depth story with characters that absolutely make you feel everything they are going through. Its amazing, especially with this story, how easy it is to get into and feel emotions for the scenes that the characters are going through. I really like how you have the angst portrayed, and I know on some level Ichigo feels he is not deserving of Rukia, but I can't wait to find out exactly what's been triggering his behavior. The only real question I had was, do you have any idea how long this story is going to be? Its definitely not a bad thing, I will be sad to see this story end, but I was just curious. Anyways, I just wanted to say again that you are an AMAZING author and full of talent, and I am so glad that you wrote on a pairing that I support, though I have a feeling you could have easily gotten me to appreciate a new pairing if I hadn't previously been a fan.

Don't worry, Haji, I think I need some sake too. Poor Rukia- and my god, I'm really not liking Orihime in this fic. And now Ichigo and company know about Hisana! And mmm, Kaien. I love Kaien. Another amazing chapter, as usual. I loved Ichigo's reaction as seen through Haji- very nicely done.

Wow. I mean...really...WOW! Your story is wonderful!^^ I am actually from Russia. And I am currently writing a IchiRukiKai fic. So, I feel kinda de ja vu reading your fic, except mine is a romantic comedy xD You've made an angst sooo heartbreaking... Rukia seems a little bit OOC. Orihime does, too. But it makes your angst inimitable! True to tell, I love Ichigo. But in your fic I wanna KILL HIM >.< KILL!! xD He comes to Rukia and sais "I want to talk.". Or...seriously...he wants "to TALK"!!! >.< Meh, I really wanna kill him xD So, I hope A LOT that Kaien-hansome-dono will make Rukia happy. Of course, I hope Ichigo(>.

That's alright, I enjoy reading this story :-). I liked Kaine's entrance, I wonder what kind of relationship you will show between them, is romance possible or will her heart always lie with Ichigo? Also, Haji rocked in this chapter, he totally kicked A$$, I was rooting for him as I read it, Ichigo does need to feel what Orihime's been gooing through. Also, seeing Rukia's pain through Haji's eyes gave another perspective to it, it made me feel her hurt even more, and makes me more angry at Ichigo, the fact that Haji knew how Rukia was before and how much she's changed since the whole Ichigo episode, it's really sad, he has ruined her, and I can't wait to find out why. I don't like Orihime's character, so far she isn't the bad person in this, but she seems to be painted as the villain, unless there is a reason for this, and it will be revealed later that Orihime is not so innocent in the whole thing as we like to think. Then again it makes sense that Rukia would view Orihime as the enemy, and Haji (as her protector/father figure) as well, but then again Ichigo's sisters don't like her either. Even though Ichigo has treated Rukia bad I am still intrigued by his character, every time you show him, or he enters the scene, I want to know what he's thinking what he's going to say, and you reveal just a little bit to keep me wanting to know more, you've definitely created an air of mystery around him.
