Title: Joy in the Words Reviewed By: RazZadig [MediaMiner Member] On: September 17, 2005 03:27 CDT Rating(s):Style of Writing: 10 of 10 Spelling & Grammar: 9 of 10 Originality/Creativity: 10 of 10 Enjoyment Factor: 10 of 10 Overall Rating: 10 of 10 Comment/Review: Incredible! I rarely like to read WIPs just b/c it breaks my heart if a great story isn't finished. So it was with hesitation that I started reading "Freeport" and now it's 3:15 in the morning, and I'm not sorry a bit that I read it. As a sci-fi aficionado, there's nothing like discovering a new world and society unique and detailed like any here on Earth. You've created that in Freeport. It feels like I've stepped through the airlock every time I sit down to read. The characters are deep and the plot intense. And to mention the philosophy within the story, and Freeport itself, it is a pleasure for me to have an author challenge her/his readers to think. (Even read up a bit on Maldoror to check up on your namesake.) I enjoy the care you put into your quotes and songs at the beginning of each story. Made me resurrect a few memories of taking French in high school. :-) Writing this review is helping me avoid the pain of the cliffhanger in part 30. Please, keep writing! With a grin, Raz

The tension between our unlikely pair, the overall situation. Not that I'm not not enjoying it, but damn woman, throw us a fuzzy bone now and then! Just kidding. This is brilliant. More!

The characters are wonderfully in character (which is difficult to find, as you know), the plot is well constructed and you're building the romance slowly, thoughtfully, and beautifully. The depth you've construed within this story (and the others you've written, by the way) is beyond worthy of publication. But this is a fanfiction, which generally don't tend to have published novels. Don't let butterflies live in your bedroom.

Reviewed By: Aubergine On: August 16, 2005 00:46 CDT Comment/Review: I'm on Chapter 12 and so far, I'm in love with this story. Your characterization is so... thorough and believable. The environment you made up, mixing in various political theories, hell, even the quotes you put up all send my delicate little heart aflutter. Bonus: you made me look up the word "tartar." Fanfics that make me expand my vocabulary are few and far between. This is brilliant! Keep it up! But I have to note the bad too (thankfully there isn't that much): the occaisonal spelling and grammar errors throw me off sometimes, but not to the point of ruining the story. Also, when Duo says "yanno," is it pronounced "ya know" or "yawn-o"? This little tidbit has been bothering me for the past few chapters. Your writing reminds of another GW fic writer named Lethanon. I like her work because the characterization is also thorough and believable and she makes all-around solid fics (like you!) Just wanted to spread the word. Once again - this is brilliant!

Title: Chapter 29 Reviewed By: mugi-the-eep [MediaMiner Member] On: August 15, 2005 19:04 CDT Comment/Review: Pardon the image, but that felt like ripping scabs off partially healed wounds. Ouch. But it was good in a way, too. You've got that whole "we have to get really mad and say things we don't mean before we can get down to what's really bothering us" dynamic down cold. Silly boys and their silly pride! And Iove the intimacy of the scene on the roof. Funny how they seem much more naked with their clothes on then they do with them off! Great chapter! Looking forward to the next one. ^_^ Mugi

It's taken me over 2 days to read this fic and I love it to bits. The complexity of the plot and the setting is amazing, the concept of Freeport is so intricate and well thought-out. Introducing it from Wufei's point of view works so well as it shifts from a miscreant's hideout to a functioning community with such real people. Your character development is fantastic, most people don't take so much time to dig into the mindset of Wufei, or appreciate how he can have somewhat black and white views while still being a complex person himself. The interaction with Duo is so tanglible and the way they finally come together was so right, I haven't read anything with such raw energy and power for ages. I can't list all the little touches that work so well, like Duo's random vocabularly, the little British/Australian touches which sound incongruous but somehow fit the setting. And Trowa and Une as Wufei's bosses, even with relatively little discussion devoted to them their characters are clearly planned and developed. And it keeps getting even better! This latest chapter was great, especially the provocative points Duo made, followed by Wufei's initial reaction, I was shouting at him to get up there, but it was more realistic that he'd be stubborn about it first. So thanks again for this wonderful fic, sorry if i sound OTT but i really do love it and can't wait for more!

Title: Complex Reviewed By: pyrzm [MediaMiner Member] On: August 13, 2005 09:03 CDT Rating(s):Overall Rating: 10 of 10 Comment/Review: No wonder your poor brain is melting. This just gets more complex and convoluted as you go! The occassional lemon keeps me going, though. Interesting dynamic. Look forward to more!
