DING, DING, DING! Ladies & Gentleman, eyes on the center ring. Loved this chapter!Knew that Kaguara could hold her own especially against the ice queen. You wrote this famously. Great!

I love that confrontation with Sesshomaru's mother. It sounds so hilarious and Kagura is the perfect one to confront her. The only better one would be having Sesshomaru's mother trying to attack Inuyasha in Kagome's presence, after Kagome lost her temper the bitch would be motes of purified light. It was a good idea to have Myouga to check the place out first with the help of Kirara. I hope nothing happens to Myouga during this reconnaissance or Inuyasha will never forgive himself, he bad mouths the flea but he does really care about him too. I can't wait to see how this all works out.

I've followed this story, so far, mainly for the Miroku and Sango storyline, and the growing danger for the Higurashi shrine - but I think this chapter belongs to Kagura. She stole the show. I like how you understated the power Sesshoumaru's mother must surely have - "nearly equal in rank to him" says it all. We know how powerful Dad was, for a woman to be nearly his equal, she must be formidable. And, of course, with a son like Sesshoumaru, there must surely be no doubt. Which makes Kagura's success a novel on just what she's capable of, when freed from all restraints. Which sounds just about right to me. Kagura was a force of nature in the manga, and it feels right that a creature so connected to elemental wind would be capable of being so dangerous (which itself speaks volumes on Naraku for being able to enslave her). It makes perfect sense that a woman could only hold Sesshoumaru's interest if she herself was strong, powerful and willfil. Nothing like a challenge to keep a relationship interesting! It would seem they've got a very good understanding of each other already - Kagura can read his moods, he understands her jealousy. Given the comment in the previous chapter when Kagura included Sesshoumaru in her sweeping statement about dog-youkai being possessive about mates and in this chapter, where Sesshoumaru restrains her jealousy, it makes me wonder if they've already dealt with "interferences". There's an equally understated understanding between Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha as well - Sesshoumaru knew what the subject of Kikyou can do to Inuyasha, and they're communicating with their eyes. No doubt at all that they're brothers. :) I liked Sango's comment about Kirara protecting her by transforming at a distance. I thought that was a very nice touch - and very sensible in this hidden-youkai world you've created. It's the little touches that make a world real. :)

I *love* the dialogue about Sess!Mom - laugh out loud funny at so many lines - "Sesshomaru-sama has a mother?" .. "So you have met her," .. and my favorite, "She's [Kagura's] even as pretty as you are!" I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. Though now I wonder what kind of trouble Myouga is going to get into (only human, hmm? … guess he'll find out the hard way). Still greatly enjoying the story and can't wait for more!

ROFL Okay, I admit that I haven't been keeping up with this story. However, I thought I'd have a look when I saw that it had been updated. OMG! Kagura was awesome! Now I HAVE to go back and read just to see if you actually have any of the scenes from the meeting with Sesshoumaru's mother. That was great! Well written, as always. ^_^ Snow

Oh, wow! I LOVED this chapter. It was HILARIOUS! Kagura is Sesshoumaru's perfect match for sure. She could not have handled his bitch of a mother any better. The only thing Sessh's mom respects is power....and Kagura showed her plenty of that and then some. And, let's face it, Sesshoumaru would have run roughshod over anyone less proud than he was. So, he definitely met his match. EXCELLENT characterization. I am still snickering over this chapter...it's that good. I can't wait to read the next one!

I wrote this review on your LJ, but it didn't show up, so I'm leaving it here for you as well: I've been a big fan of Minoue ever since chapter one, and I look forward to every week or so when you write a new one... but I've got to say that this chapter kind of turned me off almost completely. :/ I think you've written both Inuyasha and Kagome completely out of character here, and while you're allowed to blur some lines for an AU fic, I think rape is more like redrawing the lines entirely. Even in his Youkai form, Inuyasha was always violent, not lustful. I suppose you could call him Animalistic, which somewhat fits, but it isn't realistic to say that any animal would continue to mate when intruded upon by a perceived challenger -- they would fight. So if you're trying to say the Youkai world is different, you've created something completely new here and I have to tell you honestly that I don't like it. Rape is never "understandable" or "forgivable" or "OK." Never. And rape is what we're talking about here... to the point where Kagome was crying and trying to pull away and saying "no." Whether or not it felt good, nothing makes that ok, and I don't think Kagome is a weak enough character to be steamrolled by something like that. You don't just turn around and say "oh, you raped me... but you were an animal at the time so it's ok." If I (or any other self respecting woman, I feel) were Kagome, that would be the end of a relationship for me, and at the very least I'd be slightly traumatized by the fact that the person I feel closest to is capable of violating me in the most horrible way -- pretty much at whim. I also feel like, with Kagome's miko powers, she should have been able to repel Inuyasha if she'd wanted to (which she clearly did). We've seen her use those powers in your writing before, and I don't think she would have hesitated to use them here... unless you're saying that Kagome holds Inuyasha's safety before her own, which would be another example of you taking her out of character. Anyway... I really don't want to be rude; I've honestly enjoyed all of your writing up until this point -- but so flippantly having the main character rape his fiance and her be OK with that sends a horrible message to anyone reading, and that's where I have to draw the line. You disappointed me with this chapter. :(

Enjoyed your commentary on the mating habits of demons. I liked Sess and Kagura smirking when Kagome brought up marking. Sess was in almost canon form trying to determine whether they intended to mate by forcing Inuyasha to bring his youkai into play to protect his relationship with Kagome (staying connected w/her in front of Sess, trying to get her pregnant to discourage a potentional rival and having her retain his scent in front of Sess.) Miroku is much more honorable about Sango than she expected him to be.(Not having sex w/student)I am glad in their case that they are waiting just as I am glad that you made I/K not wait.

o_O Well that chapter was definately interesting. I'm not really into yaoi though. I liked the rest though. I just can't wait to see where this is headed. Keep up the great work.
