Okay, that reunion was, to me, wonderful and awful! I'll explain...I think V's so emotionally caught up in the seeing her father wracking with coughs and weakly attempting simple acts to really call up her outrage. maybe it wasn't outrage but masked sadness over what "woulda, coulda, shoulda" yanno? But, the fact that here parent knew about her, have been tracking her career and all, and never got in contact...well, I think later, this may come up as a big "Wait...WTF was THAT?!!" I could be wrong. Evan's doing wonderfully as a supporting friend and open-minded associate--on the outside, anyway. One wonders what he's REEEEEEEEEEEEALLY thinking of this whole reunion, right about now. Me? I'm on the fence about it and won't render an opinions 'til I get a better understanding of the facts. Still, that possum joke WAS priceless. V blinked. I laughed so HARD imagining the look on her face! How'd I just KNOW Evan'd take that opportunity to throw out another hicktown-ism. I laughed and nearly cried my heart out. I'm getting it together, slowly, but these chapters are just... Makes me wonder if I'm reading fiction, sometimes. Eh, well. Wonderful storyline and I loved the reunion, as it was pleasant but left enough "Hmmm..." moments to keep me guessing! That, at least, kept the sniffles at bay for a while--damn, that song's funny! But, the moment of truth is here and all V's inner monologue was so...maddeningly touching--GAWD, woman, I near-bawled inside. I've seriously neede to drink hot tea with these chapters to ease my throat (I HATE crying--even when I'm alone--and holding it in, well, working my throat muscles). Goodness, when they saw each other, father and daughter, I just had to pause and step away from my laptop. i couldn't read for at least 20 minutes, just PREPAIRING myself for what came...VERBAL vomiting of anger, tears, lashing out, a heart-felt reunion, Evan growling to himself? But, when I read the rest, you'd given me a cliffie, full of "Hmmm, this coud be alright...". Just reading V referred to as Valene? Well, it touched me deeply. When she called him Daddy, I nearly whimpered. And "I'm home." Lord, take me now...I lost it. See, this is the reason the reviews took so long. Sorry for that. I wrote and rewrote my reviews, saved them to my flashdrive, and still, I'm tweaking them before I post. Lots of errors and unnecessary garbling. Still may have left too much in but, well, I wanted you to see what this story means to me. I was into P8 and felt such outrage and just plain rage and sorrow...for P9, it's like you're reading my heart. It's warm in this story, sometimes a little toucha nf go to read, for it touches on so much of my life, it's not even funny. Made me rethink a lot of things. I finally decided to have a talk with my brother, who, honestly, I'm less than fond of for numerous reasons after reading this chapter. Really. It gave me that extra boost I needed to just "try". I'm rambling. Sorry. Damn, I STILL need a tissue. And the fact that I have an ugly cold now is just adding to the drama. As I said in the forum, I'm getting SERIOUSLY emotionally involed in this story arc. I try not to go there, review-wise, but I really could NOT get a seriously coherent paragraph...or sentence going to save my life. It was all blubbering/typing out of my memories and hurts and I couldn't stay on topic. Damn, I remember the decision I made to see my mother when she was hostipalized and doing BAD...it was challenging, but I did it; my father...it was complicated. Never got to see him before he passed, though I was told he was out of his head a lot towards the end and wouldn't have really been able to communicate with me--URGH!!! SEE, Sue?!! THIS is what I'm talking about! I couldn't stop rambletyping about all the memories and regrets that I feel reading these last few chapters. V's got me so wimpy reigh now, feeling like I'll just sniffle and shudder at any second. Evan gets a HUGE thumbs up from me for all he's doing, despite his misgivings and opinions on the matter of V and her parents. ...Hell, pardon me while I have a good cleansing cry... What a V-Day it was. The mutual giving of satirical cards was hilarious to read, but the g-string topped it all. I just had a lump in my throat this entire chapter. I love Evan so much lately...more than I thought I cound love him. He's refreshing and encouraing and, well, he's TRYING. He's not pushing his opinions on her, which is a godsend in times like this. I'm so glad he's here for her! Amazing!! Finally V gets to see her family and maybe even next chapter gets to see her sister and brother shes never really met. Im hoping Marvin doesnt pop up again, its about time for him to ruin everything between her and Evan, which sucks cause they so belong together. Speaking of, he really needs to tell her about what he really is. Sue, I stumbled upon your fanfictions here a couple of years ago. I am long over due in writing a review! I just wanted to let you know that I really love the Purity stories and I don't think I could ever tire of reading new volumes in the series. This story has had me checking for updates daily from the start. I have loved watching the amazing charater developement and I can't wait to find out why Valerie's parents never visited her! It seems almost like a dream right now, especially with her parents welcoming her back home with open, if not slightly stunned, arms. I just wonder how soon that little bubble of happiness will pop. I have a feeling it'll be because of one of the younger siblings. V's a complete stranger to those two, they have no clue who this stranger is that's just all-of-a-sudden waltzed into their life. Yeah, her parents have followed her career as much as they could, but, still... not everything's going to be champagne and roses. It's always worth the wait with your stories. Thank you for the update. I think you've captured homecoming and parents pretty perfectly. I'm sitting here crying remembering fondly my parents (who are gone now) and little things from my home growing up. It's funny how just a certain little thing will trigger a memory like that. One minute I'm reading about V's mama pouring out tea and the next I'm back in my kitchen as a kid hearing my own mama's beautiful laughter. Thank you again.
